You have it backwards: Chet Atkins borrowed much of his style from the player whose arrangement inspired this version, MERLE TRAVIS.

This song is not a gypsy song but a Fox Trot composed in 1921 and was a hit with early jazz bands in the pre accoustic recording age :)
