On January 24, I flew Icelandair from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport to Reykjavík-Keflavík International Airport. Icelandair is the flag carrier of Iceland, headquartered at Keflavík International Airport. The geographical position of Iceland is convenient for one-stop transatlantic flights, which are one pillar of their business strategy, along with traffic to and from the country. I've flown Icelandair a few times. The planes are old and prone to tech problems, but the cabins are in good condition and the service is good, and their premier class is much more affordable than BA or Delta.
I agree. They have quite a lot of maintenance delays, but I prefer them over both of those carriers
@@QFSAviation They need to order the A321LR and XLR right away to replace those geriatric 757s. The 737MAX doesn't have the range to hit KEF from west of the Mississippi and a widebody is too large for their needs.
@@janellek21 The 757 is still an absolute unit, I'd say keep them around until Boeing comes out with there new NMA "797" since the XLR isn't really a true replacement.. Now that Boeing is mostly done cleaning up the 737 MAX situation they can now focus on the NMA..
@@cancelanime1507 Boeing doesn't have the resources to develop any clean-sheet aircraft. The NMA won't happen for at least another decade, if it happens at all.

Good legroom. Crew not too friendly.
I almost flew these guys to Copenhagen from Orlando, but was able to cash in SkyMiles and fly Delta instead.

If you want to fly a BA B744, now is as good as time as any, although you have several years left. BA will be among the last 747-400 operators when the final ones fly in about 5 years.
The aircraft with the refurbished cabins are quite pleasant, you'd almost never know these are 25 year old aircraft.

@@QFSAviation I love the old four-holers...actually use a photo I took inside the (updated) BA 747 cabin as my laptop wallpaper!
Recently flew a VS 744 MAN-JFK, which doesn't have long left, at least with that carrier. That was okay but did not have the state of the art IFE offered on some newer VS fleet types, and the cabin looked and felt slightly tired. Still, it was more than acceptable and their service is very good even in Economy.

As for future flights, I noticed the BA A318 used for the JFK-LCY route--perhaps that or traveling WB, try Air Tahiti Nui to anywhere in the South Pacific or try Icelandair's competition,WOW Airlines(?)--How is the Euro doing vs the USD? Is Iceland cheap for Americans? Were you on a package deal(airfare,hotel,meals)?
Jason Moors I am Icelandic so I will answer your questions. In Iceland they do not use the euro but they us e the Icelandic Krónur. Iceland is quite an expensive country.
