Listening in July 2023, I just heard this piece on the Pandora feed at work today. And as a legitimate product of the 80s, I can confidently say that the artists couldn't have done it better. If I had to describe the poignant, yet sexy sound of this song in my ears, it would be "love scene music." This is the sound of lovers on the run, giving in for one moment to desperate passion while hiding in some motel from the forces of evil. (Think Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, for a good example: you could layer this song right over that scene.) I know that's awfully specific, but it's precisely what these sounds bring to my mind, and this tune would have fit PERFECTLY into the soundtrack of some medium-budget film of the time, some sci-fi thriller, detective drama, or horror flick playing on HBO when I was a kid. And that's takin' me back QUITE a bit!
