This perhaps illustrates our fundamental problems are being self generated within our educational system.

This has changed my view on Goodwin. He always seemed to be maintaining a degree of academic detachment from the problems that he was describing, but the fact that he spoke at this event and described it as a personal view is a major step for him. I hope others understand the risk that he is taking here.

(And why the hell should we pay for Algerians Afghans, Iraqis, Somalians etc to go and live in Rwanda?) If the Home Secretary/PM wanted to stop illegal immigration they could do it with a single phone call to Border Force and another to the French govt.

Absolutely spelled out the way I see it. As a life-long Labour voter who switched to Tory in hopes of completing a good Brexit, cutting mass immigration, and getting the 'levelling-up' agenda. I would vote SDP or Reform, but with the current system, they have no chance of getting anywhere.

The SDP policy reflects what Matthew Goodwin is saying here. Reform are more like the economic liberalism he opposes.

@russellwhite1581 but to anhilate the Tories will require everyone to get together behind Reform. SDP are miniscule and can't be a threat to anyone. To get rid of Labour and Tories will be a multi step process.

I applaud Matthew Goodwin for his brilliant speech, I have been stating much the same for years, but my words fell on deaf ears. Hopefully now apathy will turn into action, better late than ever, for if inaction continues our beloved country will be in the mire. Our rights are continually ignored, social exclusion has returned back to the Dickensian era and those who are supposedly acting in our best interests continue to for fill their own prophecies.

i have his book, his speech is very much a cut down version. however i must add that i too came from a divorced family and this was VERY traumatic, even David Lammy in his book Ashes to Ashes regarding the riots that took place in London one August, gives strong precedence to the fact that the vast majority of people involved in the riots were from single parent families that had no male role model.

When the Conservative party is multicultural, multi ethnic. How can it conserve anything. Especially British culture, which is inextricably linked to the ethnicity of these islands?

If Corbyn had succeeded in the last election, things would have been very different. The Labour manifesto dealt with many of the problems Goodwin talks about. (and I'm not a supporter of Corbyn as PM).

I know that Matthew Goodwin would run a million miles from this but I would vote for him as Prime Minister. Why? Because he is honest and speaks truth to power how rare a commodity that is today. The reluctant leader is the best e.g. St Martin of Tours and King George VI as just two examples.
