This came out in the mid 90s, I was in high school, 15 - 16 years old. Still love Hootie lol. You should check out Hold My Hand and I Only Wanna Be With You.
Darius Rucker is from my hometown, Charleston, South Carolina. He is loved so much here that we have a street named after him near the airport. Darius is awesome! He walks around town and he talks with everybody. He stops at restaurants and stuff and he talks to people. He is totally awesome dude!
@Wrestlin’ Jack Awesome!!! I have a friend who lives in Mount Pleasant where he does. They both have subs about the same age. When she shopping at Dick’s she runs into Darius at his son a lot there. She said he is just the sweetest man and treat you just like anyone else should. He doesn’t act like he’s this rich guy you know? He’s awesome!
this was their first big hit in 93... Darius is the lead singer for the slow southern rock band Hooti and the Blowfish ALWAYS.. his solo country stuff was a side project.. his best friend “the guitar player” formed Hootie and the Blowfish in 1986.. they were room mates at the time.. they just released studio album number six in 2019.. Darius pissed the country fan world off during a CMT interview when the woman interviewing him asked him “now that ur a massive country singer, when will Hootie and the Blowfish break up” and he said”never, i am not a country star, i am the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish with my best friend and i always will be”... they r still together including him
Hello! Thank you for the video! Please pay attention to the young singer Diana Ankudinova.Make reactions to the songs of Wicked game, Human🌞🌞🌞DIANA ANKUDINOVA is a talented young singer. I would like to know your opinion. I think you will be surprised. Diana has a very unusual voice and artistic presentation for her age.🌹🌹🌹 Thanks in advance
Many bloggers claim that they have never heard such a voice in their life, especially from a girl of such a young age! *Diana* *Ankudinova* leaves no one indifferent! 💎💎💎🔥💥💯
I was 34, pregnant with my only child, happiest period of my life. I'm in a puddle of weird feelings and tears. I love this song so much, thank you for reminding me.
I've been a fan of this band since they came out I was listening to this band back in 1994 this is one of my favorite songs they have a lot more good songs out there
Darius has one of the sultry voices not only when he was with Hootie but when he is doing is own thing now in Country Music now. This song was released in 1994‼️❤️
Love this song!!!Was front row center in 1995 at a concert in San Jose where they opened for Toad the Wet Sprocket. Got backstage passes and met all the Blowfish.
This one helped me through losing my 86 year old grandfather recently. He and my grandmother were married for 68 years. She’s still with us, but probably not much longer since she lost him. Sometimes crying helps. And Darius is from my state, South Carolina!
I was at the University of South Carolina when these guys were, late 80s, and they played the bars in 5 points. My crowd never missed them whichever bar they were at. So many good times.
i liked Hootie and the Blowfish when they came out with Only Wanna Be With You, but when i heard this song i instantaneously became a huge Darius Rucker fan. his voice and the emotion in it with this song is so beautifully brutally perfect for it. i'd pay money to listen to him sing the phone book.
Ahhh the memories. H & the B members all 4 were students at Univ. of South Carolina in Columbia. Being Gamecock fans we would go down to catch games and hit 5 points after going to all the bars. Group Therapy, The Hunley, etc. We use to catch these guys playing the local bars before they were discovered. After they became a huge hit they would play a free concert every year in Columbia for all the local fans that supported them early on. Fun fact. Part of the video for this song was filmed in Charlotte NC at the Copal Grill on Wilkerson Blvd. They were scheduled to shoot the video that day and it rained and I mean poured down. They shot anyway and it actually made it better IMO. The Grill closed several years back after a 40-50 yr run.
This came out in 1993 1994 it was one of a few on cracked rear veiw.... album.... I was going through boot camp at 23 at Fort Jackson.... Darius and The blowfish... were going to college at the university of South Carolina in Columbia.... I could have listened to em on a cover charge.. in Columbia.. they made it big that fall
You asked in March 2020 what made me why I became a patron? You did. I love country but it was more than that. You being BSYE and not being ashamed that you are. I got out of the Army in1973 and crawled into a bottle until Oct 1983. I crawled out for y so born in 78. He's 43 now and has forgiven me for being a crappy dad. It took time but we got it done. Not an easy trip for me. There is just something about you that gives me hope for the world.
I was in my mid 20s when the song came out. This along with all those other great 90s songs got me through a lot of otherwise dull days doing data entry in various offices (I did a lot of temp work for a good period of the 90s)
Been a fan of them from the time they first broke out. Such a complete group topped by Darius’ great vocals. I was 27 when Cracked Rear View made them famous. It’s one if the highest selling albums if all time, selling close to 14 million its first year.
Hootie & the Blowfish was one of my first live concerts with friends- senior year of high school 1994-95... this brought back memories! Another great song of theirs is "Time"
Hello, I would like to see your reaction to the performances of Diana Ankudinova. Her amazing voice surprises everyone, she performed covers of the famous songs "Wicked Game", "Human", "Havana","Take on Me". She also has her own songs "Into the sky" (В небо), "Your Voice" (Голосом твоим), "Happiness" (Счастье).
Darius Rucker started with Hootie and the Blowfish. They became one of my all-time favorite bands. By they way, who told you you make cute babies? Hehe
In 1994, 1995, and 1996 Hootie and the Blowfish were one of the biggest groups around, and their first album had 5 singles that all went platinum!!! This was one of them! In 1994 I turned 16, in July.
I was 9 when the album Cracked Rear View came out, I wore out the cassette. I was living in Florida and 'Only Wanna Be With You' was on the radio ALL the time, because of the bit about the Dolphins.
Great song and reaction! Have you ever reacted to Peter Hollens and/or Brian Hull before? They are two great singers in their own right. Here's Peter Hollens singing When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt, via Zoom, with BYU Vocal Point. ruclips.net/video/E5R_i9BBHJM/видео.html And here's Brian Hull singing Lava (from the Pixar short film) with Jess Mailhot: ruclips.net/video/g9cZIJxmT2Y/видео.html Both are worth checking out and reacting to.
I'm from the era. It was hilarious to see the reactions on people's faces when they found out that Hootie from the Blowfish lead singer was black. But you got to luv it! Another song that was great, is Time, Hootie and the Blowfish.
I was 13 when this song came out, but I saw them in concert at Springfest 1998 in Pensacola, Florida. Still one of the best and most memorable concerts I’ve ever been to
This song came out in 1994 or 95 ! His Band was very popular in the early to mid 90’s ! Love his voice! He is a star in almost any genre’ thanks for this reaction, should do some of his country hits too!
I feel it's about Tough love - but true. Let the S.O. make their own mistakes but be there for them when/if they come back. It's not about control, it's about sharing life.
I was six when this came out remember my mom used to play it all the time now as a married man I appreciate this song from a different point of view truely a classic.
The band was named after 2 guys Rucker went to college with. 1 had big glasses making him look like an owl and they called him Hootie and the other guy had a fat face like a blowfish. They arrived to a party together and Darius said "Hey it's Hootie and the Blowfish and the bands name was created. I was 15 years old when this came out.
I was 33 when the album, Cracked Rear View, was released. It is one of the best selling albums of all time and produced 4 big hits and many award nominations. Darius was labeled a sellout by some who wanted to pigeon hole a black artist into a certain genre but Darius stayed true to the music that HE loved. He is still doing what he wants today as a country artist.
Sure would like you to react to Clay Walker. Country music, a good starter would be "Momma Before She Was Momma," A little history on Clay, he has been battling MS for many years. Thanks for reacting.
This is one of my fave songs of all time. I love Hootie & The Blowfish. My dad used to listen to them all the time .. I think I was 10 years old when I first heard them. Darius has an amazing voice!! It’s so calming 💕 only wanna be with you, hold my hand, I go blind are all great songs too!
Diana Ankudinova is a young performer who shocks us with her pleasant voice and takes us into the abyss of events!!! Diana Ankudinova is unique and inimitable, goosebumps from her voice! Diana sings as if she lives in the song! The soul freezes or opens with Diana's voice. I am a musician who has been with music for years, and believe me, I have not heard such a tone in all these past years.
There's a joke during the Bush admin think 2nd term? On the Daily Show the good one with John Stewart. The Blowfish played at an event "they couldn't even get Hootie"
I was 34. This was one of my favorites. I was going thru a really bad time with an ex (child support issues)and the guy I was dating at the time would play this for me on the jukebox.
Darius Rucker has gotta be one of my all time favorite singers
Saw him live a few times, and he somehow sounds better live than he does on records. Such an underrated singer.
His voice is magic!
@@truepatriot2093 I’m jealous I love his music

not even slightly surprised, he comes across as just "that guy from down the street" so clearly. he's a top shelf individual without a doubt
@willow84 Where abouts?
@Wrestlin’ Jack Awesome!!! I have a friend who lives in Mount Pleasant where he does. They both have subs about the same age. When she shopping at Dick’s she runs into Darius at his son a lot there. "I Only Want to be With You" was their breakout hit.
Love Darius. His voice is beautiful.❤️❤️😀😀😀🤦 I was always taught that a southern belle doesn't tell her age.😀😀😀😀
i liked Hootie and the Blowfish when they came out with Only Wanna Be With You, but when i heard this song i instantaneously became a huge Darius Rucker fan. his voice and the emotion in it with this song is so beautifully brutally perfect for it. i'd pay money to listen to him sing the phone book.

DIANA ANKUDINOVA SUPER TALENTED YOUNG SINGER💥🎤💥🎤💥
The song is about a drug addict. She want him to get help, he don't want it. So in the song he says, let her leave, let her cry.
I was 7 or 8Y when this album came out, and it was maybe my 2nd or 3rd CD I bought. Helped me through lots of depressed times over the last 30 years
Darius Rucker started with Hootie and the Blowfish. They became one of my all-time favorite bands. By they way, who told you you make cute babies? Hehe

Need to listen to "Not Even the Trees" by Hootie and the Blowfish
All four of these guys met in college at the University of South Carolina (Gamecocks). You’re listening to some of the earlier music.
Saw them several times live. Timeless and what a storyteller. They were huge!
Yes! Saw him a few times too. They were my favorite band in the 90s
I turned 18 in 1994. I was a junior in high school. One of their other songs made the senior video in 1995. Love Hoodie and the Blowfish.
