I bought 2024 Outback Touring (none XT), white with java brown leather.I love it, still have a lot of gadgets inside that I need to learn. I'm new to Subaru. I bought it mainly because of Safety.
We had a 21 Touring XT, my wife stopped for a school bus. Got rear ended by 2 cars behind her. Both of those old cars had to be towed (Kia minivan & Mazda 2). One lady transported by ambulance. Our Outback just had a pushed in back bumper & dented hatch. The electric hatch still worked! My wife was not hurt at all & car was drivable. But insurance co’s totaled all 3 due to repair costs vs value. We loved that car, fast, good mpg, roomy & very safe. Best car for roadtrips. 😢
I own a 2016 Outback. Enjoy everything about it! It looks good, excellent construction, it's great on the open road, as it is around town, great visibility and gets great gas mileage, roomy cabin for 4 full-sized adults and lots of storage, and best of all, it's been very reliable. I would highly recommend this or any Subaru to anyone.
I ordered a 2025 limited, came in to the dealership on Saturday July 13th, was going to pick it up on following Thursday, dealership called, a hailstorm came thru on Monday, totaled every single car on the lot, including my brand new car. Now I have to reorder and wait till September. I had already sold my other vehicle, which was a 2023 to CarMax, because they offered 3 k more than the Subaru dealer.
I just purchased a new 2025 Touring XT, with a lot of help from your videos! I love that Java Brown interior, and my car's gorgeous Autumn Green Metallic exterior. I think that this car is the best SUV value on the road, and it actually rivals (and in some respects, surpasses) my 2015 Audi Q5 3.0T in terms of performance and comfort.
I like that the brown seats come with a lighter gray headliner. When I test drove a few Outback trims recently I found most of them were far too dark inside - which looks cool but can feel kinda heavy and depressing in the winter months. The darker interiors also seem to hold more heat.
Setting aside the Legacy, because I don't think it's fair to compare sedans to wagons & SUVs, I think this is the best vehicle at the best trim level available from Subaru in 2024.
Another great review! The Outback/Legacy are my favorite Subarus! I had a 2018 3.6r Touring that was a Dark Blue with the Java Brown Interior. It was my favorite vehicle that to this day I regret selling. However when the lease is up on my current vehicle (not a Subaru ☹️)an Outback or Legacy Touring XT in this color combination will be in my garage and I plan to own it until it falls apart!
Thank you for the exellent videos. They helped me when shoppong for a new vehicle. It came down to the 4Runner OBW and OBTXT. I ended up going with the 4R but was very impressed with the OB Touring XT.
Of course, I’m so glad you get something out of watching them! That’s a good choice! I’d personally love a 5th gen 4Runner. The main reason holding me back is the crash test results are not quite as good as I’d like them to be. But it’s also likely the most reliable vehicle you can buy right now and has amazing resale value so it’s definitely a trade off. I still would like one, so please enjoy it for both of us haha. 😅😝
Thanks for info. Would be really great to learn how Gen 4 eyesight is better than Gen 3. Gen 4's supposed to have different cameras but I can find no real details as to how their performance varies (no Subaru white papers, etc.). Maybe a comparison test of some type in future?
Yes, but it doesn't take long to get acclimated. A heavy foot from a standstill will get you pretty choppy acceleration. Eazing in off the fly will get you a smoother and maybe even faster launch. Once the turbo spools up this thing really gets moving. I rarely have to give it more than 60% accelerator to get more than adequate results. I will say that the non-turbo is a little more smooth and eager from the dig but once they get up and moving, the XT flys right by. I have a 22 Premium and a 24 XT in the driveway.
I think the tint/privacy glass makes it look more high end. It is going to be another hot week here in NJ. I always wonder how the AC works in the 2.5 vs. the 2.4 turbo?
Absolutely! I can already tell it’s made a noticeable difference on our Forester in the 100 degree temperatures. That’s a good question, I’m unsure if the A/C compressor unit is any different between the engines, but obviously it would be less taxing to the NA engine. Especially if they’re both loaded down or at high density altitude. I will say going for a scenic drive in our Forester yesterday and we actually had to turn the AC down because it started getting too cold, but it took probably 20 minutes to get to that point. 🤪
I've heard so many times how the front and back cameras aren't high def. So what? It's not like you're searching for coins on the driveway. They work just fine.
Great review and channel, subscibed. On the fence over a 2025 wilderness, onyx xt , and touring xt. Is there a very noticeable difference driving the wilderness ( road noise, harsher ride) compared to the onyx xt, or touring xt? Many thanks.
Thank you for the kind words and support. I honestly think they drive the exact same, lol. The Wilderness does feel just a tiny bit taller driving it, but on the street and wheel/tire set up is not noticeable. I do speculate the Wilderness’s AT tires outlast the Avid GTs by maybe 50% and do better in snow. But unless major off roading they basically all feel the exact same, in my opinion. Best of luck!!
I don’t think they’re bad, at least that’s been my experience. Although my 22 Wilderness does have a small occasional noise at interstate speeds that I can hear behind my left side on the roof. 🤷♂️🤪
I can’t say off of experience but I know others have commented on my other Outback videos and said they fit well at roughly that height! I definitely think it’s more of personal preference in your situation for whether or not you’ll feel comfortable still. Go sit in one!! 🤪🙂
Mercury poisoning. It can make someone say and do strange things. I have noticed a lot of people saying and doing very strange things lately as the mercury climbs over the 100° mark for the past two weeks. Stay cool 😎
Can you set the driver distraction software so that it stays off until something happens like you get a new battery or something? I HATE that technology.
@@elburgueno1674 As someone who drives by feel, it made me feel very alienated. It’s just so… vague and neutered. There is no driver feedback whatsoever. I can’t tell what the engine, transmission, or the wheels are doing. I can never predict the outcome of my steering/throttle inputs. So much so, that I felt safer letting it drive itself whenever possible.
Honestly someone please telll these manufacturers that cds are so 1990’s get rid of them if anything a nice hard drive with a minimum of 500 gb of storage to download music
"purchase another one in the future because you'll have that ability if you are more likely to survive an accident" Laughs. On a side, a) I can't recall having ever seen such a large, empty carpark, & b) the countryside you're driving through looks like prime mesocyclone country. And, I think Subaru should option, or simply bring back yellow/amber fog lights.

At some point I will replace my 15' outback, next one will be turbo equipped, love these cars! thanks for your report!

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that is how things have ended up! Hopefully the next new one comes in sooner than anticipated!!

My dealer knocked over $3600 off to start with then gave me way more than I expected for my trade in.
That sounds like a steal!!

These are awesome cars for the money!
Isn’t that the truth! The brown interior is such a refreshing change from what most vehicle interior color schemes are.
Great review!
On the hatch back your able to set the hatch to certain heights where you can open the garage

I want to get a Touring XT or Wilderness so bad but I don't know if I should wait for the 2026! I hope they fix that infotainment system.
The hatch open limit can be adjusted if overhead clearance is an issue. Just watch your head back there.
Great insight!!
Would you say there is a learning curve to drive the cvt and turbo combination smoothly?
I think so! At least to drive it smoothly and get above EPA MPG. It’s such a smooth ride once you get use to it. 🙂

Hello, is cabin rattling noise a problem with these cars? I found some complaints online and was wondering how prevalent this problem is?
I don’t think they’re bad, at least that’s been my experience. Although my 22 Wilderness does have a small occasional noise at interstate speeds that I can hear behind my left side on the roof. 🤷♂️🤪
How is getting into and out for a tall (6'2"+) driver? I have an Explorer, and I kinda just slide sideways to get into it, instead of stooping down.

“Apex” is subjective. Lol! I would personally consider the Wilderness the apex, but that’s just me. I guess technically this would be the apex.
Haha yeah, technically speaking this is the most expensive Outback. Although I agree with you, the Wilderness is my favorite.
Subaru ❤
What’s with the big scratch on the hood
I hadn’t noticed anything like that, what time stamp was it? I’m wondering if it was just glare or how the light caught it?
Hi again looks like the time stamp is at 0.26 seconds. Maybe it’s a bug mark. Good to see you read your comments.
Excellent review!!
Well I do like that color blue, the Forester has a better blue but this car has the turbo.
I wish it had head's up display.
Heads up display is nice but cannot see it with polarized sunglasses
@@michaelfredmon4748 True. I have a lighter pair of shades for when I need to see it.
Not a bad review.
Just a bit too chatty for my liking.
I bought the 2023 touring Xt have no intensional of selling it any time soon.
What a scratch on that cosmic pearl paint
Was thinking of buying, but… no, without 360 degrees camera…

Haha, yeah, the heat has been no joke lately!
What was the purpose of the bee being put in the video 🤔
I hate that front side panel. It’s only tolerable on the dark colors.
Can you set the driver distraction software so that it stays off until something happens like you get a new battery or something? I HATE that technology.
Good question, knowing Subaru I doubt it lol. But I haven’t gone through the customizable settings on a borrowed Touring XT to confirm that.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I think that's a big problem.
The Outback has grown to be just another behemoth. .
Don’t like all the plastic trim on the outside, it will fade over time and look old.
Needs a panoramic sunroof. And ventilated seets in the Wilderness.
I drove a ‘22 Touring XT as a loaner for just over 3 months. I absolutely hated everything about the drivetrain and the powertrain!
Why?

My friend says the same thing about the drive, doesn’t know what it’s doing half the time. 😂
I've already spotted the ugly-the front end is hideous. Those fog lights look slapped on as an afterthought.
Honestly someone please telll these manufacturers that cds are so 1990’s get rid of them if anything a nice hard drive with a minimum of 500 gb of storage to download music
All these reviews are getting repetitive.
I hear you. Thank you for the feedback!
