Just got my 2025 outback XT today and man, it is incredible. Thanks for the great review, very comprehensive!
I’m getting a 24 “dealer loaner” next week with just 3,700 miles in it .. limited model for 35,800 .. so 6k off sticker and it’s certified pre owned
I drive both the 2.5 and the turbo and it’s not even close. I’m coming from a 3.0 6cyl turbo Volvo that I will miss dearly.. probably why the regular 2.5 felt anemic.. but this is great
I just purchased the fully loaded Outback Wilderness and really like it. My first Subaru. Living in Utah we have the Rocky Mountains, Moab and tons of off-roading….and plenty of city driving. The Wilderness edition is excellent on and off road, therefore the best version my money can buy.
This is an incredibly informative video for those who don't know all the details about the Outback. Nicely done. Extremely well detailed.
This car is outstanding I had one rented last year and honestly I can't get over it
I just bought 2024 xt touring in galaxy blue.🥳🤩
LOVE IT!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure there's a button by the rear license plate to set the code if you want to deactivate your key-phob and lock it in. the stereo is sick. I've owned forester, legacy and my 23 year old son just bought Limited WRX. I love my wagon and he loves his zip zip car except I don't have to put the premium in. 🤑🤑🤑
Excellent video! Very helpful. We are considering purchasing this vehicle and you did a great job explaining it. Watching you actually driving the car, demonstrating and explaining things while driving distinguished this video from others and brought it over the top. Well done!! 👍🏼🚙
I bought the 2024 Outback XT and I love it. I got white and it is sharp looking even though you think with the white the cladding is to much but it is not. The white is sharp looking. The car moves with the Turbo and like you said in a previous video the Touring XT stereo is awesome. love the car. The Java brown is rich looking too. Outback you rock!
The Outback is the best Subaru!
@@703Speed Agree!
What are you averaging for mpg?
@@coryricci301 I never ever figure out the miles I get per gallon. I just notice how quickly the gauge drops down. It is not a gas guzzler or a penny pincher but it's pretty good on gas.
How’s it working out with the new car ?
I agree with you. The 360 degree camera would be a great option. I purchased an Outback Touring XT earlier this month and It is awesome.
Your honesty makes these reviews so great!
Glad you like them! Thank u
Yes, I agree this vehicle should have the 360 degree camera. And I also think that you should be able to start the vehicle from the key fob, instead of having to go to your phone to start the vehicle. If the app was free and there was no charge for the app then I could see why I wouldn't need the start button on the key fob.
Yeah they got us by the balls all while they monitor our facial recognition
great review, really enjoyed it !! just ordered a 2025 Outback XT touring, delivery in late Dec early Jan , lm in Australia.
So worth it. I'm in South Africa and we get the same version (183 kw, 350 nm). The turbo is worth it
You're comprehensive as heck mate, nice job.
I love my outback touring xt. Just 2 things.
Get the auto dimming side mirrors. They werent standard.
2. DONT get the wirless charger. It just overheats the phone and barely charges.
And horrible cameras and no self park
@@gaurang1201 who would ever trust a car to self park for them..lazy ass
@@gaurang1201 If you can't park, don't drive. I guarantee you are a risk to everyone in traffic
@@nebojsaenic985 lol, well done!
@@nebojsaenic985how far we have fallen 😂… my car can’t park itself .. the horror. I drove a 1975 Cadillac fleetwood in my 20’s.. biggest non limo production car ever made .. no cameras, no sensors and I would parallel park that in the tightest spots all over Boston with no issue
Excellent review as always Kenny! That is a really nice wagon and will definitely be one I consider if or when I shop for my next car. Hope that you are doing great! Congratz on 41k!!
I got the 2024 touring XT and the turbo engine is worth it. It is surprisingly quick. I got the dark gray. I just hate the wireless charger. Overheats the phone and doesn't charge fast enough. In fact even the USB c port barely charges when using wireless android auto. Def could use 360 camera
Thanks for the thorough review. Very comprehensive and just what I was looking for. So funny how people look for different things in a vehicle. The amount of times you mentioned the lack of a 360° mirroring system was…wow, and I couldn’t care less about that. I do really like the option of the digital reverse camera though. It’s great for when you have your trunk full of crap. I think this car may finally make me switch from the Honda CR-V that I’ve loved enough to lease three times. I don’t like the new changes they’ve made for 2025, especially forcing me to get a hybrid to get the touring package. Not a fan. Plus the cargo area is no longer flat when the seats are folded down. Not sure why the did that downgrade. Assuming it has to do with the hybrid battery that I don’t want. Anyway, thanks for helping me decide!!!
As far as MPG on our '22 OB Limited XT..... I can get about 22 - 23mpg in mostly urban driving, and on trips? Ain't no problem breaking 31 - 32mpg (and that is MPG computed by calculator, not the car's average MPG supplied by computer). Not too shabby for a 3900lb AWD vehicle, and I'm not a slow driver! It easily beats the MPG from my previous vehicle, a 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ w/4cyl & six speed auto transmission. And, Josh, there's one additional thing that I really like about my OB that almost no car reviewers mention - turning radius. If you have to around and go back up the road you just came down, the OB has a very tight turning radius (better than our previous Chevy Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and definitely my previous F-150!). You don't think much about until you need to make a tight U-turn, and you see it in action. Nice!
The “CD thing” is commonly known as a CD player.
I agree would love the 360 camera.
Beautiful car❤and yes I think I want one, your video was excellent great job.I appreciate all of the awesome tour of car!
Subaru needs to rethink some of their choices. People don't want digital screens for controls. We want buttons, switches, and knobs. Nor do we want big brother fussing at us for not watching the road while we muck around with the on screen menus. Also, nothing against the Turb, but some people don't want them. (more maintenance, shorter life span) Bring back the 3.6R (at least as an option). It gets nearly identical milage, has ample power, better reliability, and is much quieter and smoother than the 2.4). Yes, it may be a tad slower off the line, but Outback owners aren't typically drag racing them. We just want a swiss army knife type vehicle that can get out of it's own way.
EVERY MANUFACTURER is going to digital screens, whether we want them or not. That "big brother" sensor you're talking about can be disabled. "Some people don't want them" (turbo)? Then DON"T buy an OB with it! And the "more maintenance, shorter life span" BS? There is NO EVIDENCE that the turbo has a "shorter life span", and the "more maintenance" BS is a lie. The 3.6R won't come back - it got SIGNIFICANTLY lower MPG, the reliability is NOT BETTER, and your comment about the 3.6R "is much quieter and smoother than the 2.4" is another of your lies. Bottom line - you're a troll. Thanks for playing!
I DEFINITELY want a nice big digital screen, so much perfer that to old school buttons and switches.
I dont agree 2.4 turbo is the best thing Subaru has done the combination with the Subaru Performance Transmission Its powerful and at the same time smooth, only Subaru could do it.
I own this car. It’s my 5th Outback and 4 out of the 5 are still in my family. I agree with the big brother.
@@ozziesmom9186 Problem is, if the display is not working, no heat, no AC, no heated seats, start, stop on and off and other things.
Good review. Coming from a 2016 3.0 turbo Volvo with 300 Hp. This is the first car that has felt adequate. All the non plug in hybrids are painfully underpowered. The plug ins cost way too much money. I almost got a Mazda cx50 hybrid but the seats were so uncomfortable I just couldn’t pull the trigger. I hate the front cladding a lot .. but a dealer demo with 3,700 miles for 7k off sticker is too good to pass up
Still chillin with my 2013 Limited 👍🏾
I have a 22 Forester sport and I love it. I could care less about the 360 camera and the Turbo.
hate those touch screen controls.
I love Subaru Outback touring XT-
Though there are no significant differences between 2020 and 2025. (1) body cladding on exterior (2) Digital rear view mirror- which you can get OEM and install (3) wireless apple and android car play.
Beyond that effectively the same… it works- great vehicle all the way around!!!
have a 2022 Touring in Scotland/UK, we only get the 2.5L NA engine for 167bhp, would love the XT engine, much better for steep highland roads and safer overtaking. Steering wheel buttons need to remain buttons -- gloss black surrounds in the interior need to be retired and replaced with a matt material, or a nice wood effect like Mazda use. Also binnacle needs to full digital screen now and better camera resolutions and night use (we don't get the digital rear view mirror). Ventilated seats would be handy for summer. 👍👍
The cladding should only be on the Wilderness trim ,don’t like it on the other trims.
I kinddaa agree, but I don’t think it looks too bad
get it in black and you dont notice it as much
@@fwd5614I don’t like the cladding and would choose black but I can get a dealer demo with 3,700 miles on it for 36,000 (limited) so 7 k off sticker .. but it’s silver.. not my choice but it’s too good a deal to pass up
It would be nice if they have wireless phone charging instead of the cable charging and the camera I wish it was better and clearer. Also it needs to have physical buttons for the AC.
I was actually very surprised with the base engine. As an owner of the XT the 2.5 base was very good
Great review well done very detailed. Totally agree re 360 camera just git an ex demo 2024 outback XT touring and assumed it would have it. Also what's with no front parking sensors? I find this quite unnerving. Otherwise absolutely love it especially the torque.
I’m getting a 2024 demo limited with 3,700 miles for 7k off sticker .. great deal in my book
Needs HUD, too. Nice review!
That would also be a nice addition!
yeah, I want the 360 cam, too. Only feature on my wishlist that this vehicle does not have.
I have the ‘24 outback wilderness..it was a toss up between this model and the wilderness. I didn’t want to deal with snow tires that’s why I went with the Yokohama tires on the wilderness..but I don’t like that it doesn’t have the memory seats like this model does and these seats are far superior to the wilderness
Enjoyed this clip. Presently I drive a 2015 WRX 6 speed manual.being in my early 70"s this will be my last car. I live in Canada and will be getting a Premium XT with all the bells whistles and toys. This video was helpful for this vehicle, as its a computer on wheels.
I remember a few months back you were thinking about being done with doing this
I glad you didn’t stop - you’re one of the best my friend; always keep it up - you do amazing work! 👍👍
I get those feelings every now and then.. Felt like that this past week.. I take it a week at a time. I’m glad you like the videos though! Thank you for the support :)
Love my 2024 Outback (Touring). HATE the infotainment system. Cladding is cool to me, but for the price, I expect better overall quality. I traded in a 2013 BMW 335, and the gas mileage in the BMW was significantly better. Also, the infotainment system was much more reliable and responsive (no random delayed reaction). I love the car and I'd like to get another in 2027, but we'll see. May have to go back to BMW....
I’m trading in my 2016 Volvo with the 300hp 3.0 turbo. This is the first car I’ve driven that felt like it had sufficient power” that didn’t take premium fuel or got crap gas milage
I hear that the 2026 will have major changes - waiting. Ps. Great review.
Would it make sense to get the Touring XT with the luxury upgrades & just add outdoor modifications? Or just get the wilderness? I want the inside of the Touring XT & the outside trim & outdoor upgrades of the Wilderness
My car is Subaru legacy 2015, it still as good as new, my next car will be an outback
I agree with the other comments...The Subaru is a great vehicle but not so wild about the infotainment system.
Agreed! It could use a little work, but truthfully - it’s not as bad as some other infotainment systems on the market
@@703Speed PRECISELY. I travel a lot for the Feds, and get to drive lots of different rental vehicles. Subaru isn't nearly as bad as MANY of the infotainment systems out there, but there's always room for improvement!
Usually you tell us if the vehicle has side window acoustic glass… did i miss it?
Hands down some of the best automotive reviews on the internet. Keep up the great work and thanks a lot for sharing
We bought our 2025 Touring XT about a month ago. In Crystal Black Silica and Java brown interior. The only thing I don't like the is the quality of the backup camera. Subaru should be ashamed. I specifically told my dealer I did not want the wireless charger. He found me one with the LED door projector, which initially I didn't really want, but it's actually pretty cool! Drives like a dream.
The cameras and missing the 360 is crappy. The #1 thing I miss from my Mercedes GLE. Also doesn’t have the same IT voice understanding. Otherwise enjoy it.
@@kerritotty1844 hopefully they fix all that in the gen7.
Best cars ever!!!!Thank you Subaru!😍
Im hoping in 2026 they drop the cladding.
2023 The front design before better than new
agreed, new is hideous
Great review, but what’s with the flashing tach and speedometer?
Needs better back up camera, better navigation system, and get rid of that black plastic in the front of the car...i can see that turning white/discolored and making the car look cheap!
HI I’m learning about this for my mom and she’s not really a car or tech person so I’m going to be showing and explain all this to her and im pretty sure if I should her this she’ll think “what this man talking about?” And I want her to basically know her new car
Hopefully they got the low beam headlight issue fixed. Our 2014 blows bulbs about every 3 months
Looks like you've got what we call 18 hole tan going there. Thumbs up review. So tempting but we've got a dozen in our neighborhood already! Peace bro
Hahaha, yessir. Played 18 a couple weeks ago..
What about, side door trim, for protection of door dings
Great review of an awesome vehicle!
Thank u!!
thanks good content
I love all Subaru products & I buy this 1 day.
Do you think the Outback is the best Subaru?
Metal/ polymer mix not all metal car accordeing to Mike Shaw Subaru in Denver
Also I want to install a rooftop tent, how havey roof top tent can I install on XT?
I really hope the next gen refresh in 2026 gets rid of the faux-aggressive, over-the-top plastic cladding, especially the horrid mustache trim. It looks like a 10-year-old designed it.
I completely agree about the 360 degree camera
I have a 8 year old Cadillac that has that feature
Just drove a 2025 Forestor today
Ready to buy a new vehicle but will probably wait until the Outback adds the camera
My wife has a 2021 Outback
I currently drive a 2021 Ascent as a company car
Enjoyed the video
Nice Kenny 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍
Thank you Mr Rocky💪🏼🤙🏼
I bought a new Outback Touring XT albeit with serious reservations. Disturbing reliability ratings. No HUD. My dealer did give me a full-sized spare tire so there’s that. I would have liked a panoramic sunroof. The number of Subaru dealers here in Colorado, 19, was a major plus. (The Subaru dealerships are encouragingly dispersed throughout the state.) Subaru is a major, stalwart supporter of social issues that are extremely important to me. Lastly, even though I don’t have a Golden Retriever smart enough to drive my Outback, I am encouraged that if I did, she’d approve.
The outback comes with a full sized spare, so your dealer didn’t give you a deal on that
@ - Sadly, you are only partially correct. I bought the Touring XT trim. It DOES NOT come with a full sized spare. The 2025 Outback with the Wilderness trim does have a standard full-sized spare tire. I’d say “thanks” for sharing your semi-informed reply but that would be disingenuous.
But does it have an Auto Start/Stop cancellation button???
Yes it does but you need to reset every start up
Why are the dashlights blinking?
I noticed that too.
LED lights used in the dash lights ( speedo, tach ) operate by pulsing on and off, not normally visible to the human eye. When the camera captures the video at a different frame rate then the lights without being synced you see the flashing in the video
Great review.
Thanks buddy
@@703SpeedYou're welcome Kenny.
Why does the dash lights look like they are flickering. Would drive me crazy.at 29.35. Is it just sun reflection?
CD holder thing? Really? Where you born in 2012?
I would like to see tis carwith manual transinsion. Greetings
It’s a giant crosstrek!
Haha, I like the venting on the Crosstreks arch moldings
No - the Croostrek is a mini Outback!
Cladding is ugly. Car itself is great.
No electric start?
Im assuming you cranked yours like a model T?
Suburu?
That eye focus system is the most ANNOYING thing I have ever dealt with in my life.
Shopping mall tires
I’ll be putting Michelin cross climates on mine ASAP
I only kept my new Outback 2021 XT ‘touring for 18 months .. Couldn’t stand the CVT whine and jerky fake shifts making it horrible to make use of the 2.4T engine power. The infotainment would reboot from time to time for no reason. The Harmon Kardon amplifier failed at 18 months which was the last straw . The ventilated seats wouldn’t work with remote start and lacked in power. Traded it for a Genesis and no regrets so far . Subaru Outback , Nice car in theory but the none XT variant better value in my opinion .
Sounds like a lot of troll BS to me... almost as much as the junker you bought as a replacement. ENJOY! 🤣😅😅😅😅😆😂😅
@@eskieman3948I own the ‘23 OB Touring in Australia AND I agree with mervstone17 completely…the only time the Subaru does exactly what it should in EVERY respect is on the open road! The computer system is lack lustre and the transmission (cvt) is uninspiring to say the least!
The biggest selling points of an Outback are the AWD, the sedan driving experience, the room of a midsize suv. It is the cheapest, thus best selling sports wagon in the market. Let me put it this way, who else makes new AWD station wagon these days, Audi allroads, Volvo XCs, Mercedes E wagon 4matics. If all wheel drive is not your thing, then there is very little reason for buying a subie, right?
And how much is that genesis?
$45,000 for an Outback. Nope.
better than a $65000 volvo with less specs
Great car. Get rid of the turbo…just makes maintenance much more expensive down the road.
base model engine too under powered. only 187 HP. having the 260 hp is way better. my CRV has 182hp and its a dog sometimes and it weighs less so the outback is too heavy for the less power.
No turbo = No buy. I live in Colorado and mountain driving requires the increased horsepower. #flatlandersarestupid
I wouldn’t buy it without the turbo
Yeah the non Turbo is so painful … it hurts my soul. Slow…Granted I’m coming from a 300 hp/325lb torque Volvo 3.0 turbo 6 cylinder …
You need to learn more about your product.... maybe the reason the outback hasn't got huge wheels is because the top model is the wilderness!!! The outback is aimed at adventure not luxury.... think before you speak twinkle toes
Needs a real transmission
It’s a wagon… just lifted
I am not buying without 360 degrees camera..
this rig got 12 windows. windows are great, you can just see thru the material whats behind it. awesome invention
Yes 360 camera is preventing me from buying one!
Heads up that heated steering wheel is not standard on Outbacks!
Also ventilated seats are not standard either
@@TeaganAtwater They are on the touring. And the wilderness gets a heated steering wheel.
The heated seats & steering wheel as well as the ventilated seats are standard on the Touring XT!
@@703Speed Ah okay I got confused about which things you call out are standard on all and which are specific to the one you're showcasing! My bad, thanks for the reply and some great outback content recently! Just picked mine up today 😍
I like the Subaru's but not loving the infotainment system.
As someone who's about to pick mine up tomorrow, absolutely this. The screen is the weakest part by far, *almost* unacceptable
@@TeaganAtwater I test drove the Ascent this week but I probably will not buy because of this system.
It's really a shame
I love that vertical screen and how everything's integrated.
@@chuckwalla2967 I found it to be very slow.
9.7sec is slow i did 6.5sec in my 2022
Where did you see that number? That’s the regular 2.5
@ I looked it up, I had one!!!
And definitely tolled it bye running over black if on the road!!!
I test-drove this trim last October. Deal-breakers: the wireless phone charger that actually doesn't work (even the sales guy told me not to get it), the heating steering wheel that is weak (almost non-existent), and the lack of a 360-degree backup camera. Then add in the other almost-deal-breakers: the horrible plastic cladding is just over the top, and the screen/infotainment system is super dated. I went with the top trim 2023 Sorento instead for a few thousand less. Come on, Subaru, update this model already! I've got 2 more years on my lease, I want to make the switch!!
So you are the fool buying a Korean car! Good to know!
I drove the sorento and I assume you are super young? I felt like I was driving a video game. Hate the dial transmission, hated all the gloss black, hated the video game looking graphics and “Mario cart” sounding audio cues. The seats were too soft and the drive while nice was “mushy” I just came away 100% unmoved. My 18 year old son would probably love it though
