You said it feels kinda spawn campy for helis. But I mean, helis can shoot into tank spawns anyway. So I feel like it's a evil but lawful situation, kinda like how sometimes you're just forced into enemy spawns.
Holy shit, I honestly never thought you'd cover this vehicle given how bad it can be at times, I mean a lot of the times missiles will miss, you have a hard time actually locking on anything. Now that's a total surprise!
For these missiles to miss that's user error. You have to account for the target's movement when aiming, like you can lock and then fire way off to the side so it intercepts. Getting a lock is a whole other matter. The all aspect range on the stat card is really optimistic.
If this is the project you were talking about on stream, i love it. Not only it is a nice inside on Ozelot for those who doesn't have it or are getting killed by it. I would love to see you play more SPAAs in future. Maybe Sidam 25 Mistral could be interesting choice for next time.
In cold weather, although the temperature difference does make the contrast much higher between hot and not hot objects, especially with helicopters, and ESPECIALLY those with exhaust minimization designs (like pointing the exhaust directly into the main rotor or tail blades to dissipate the heat as quickly ass possible), the heat dissipates pretty quickly, so it's harder for the seeker to see and lock on to. Less pronounced on afturburning aircraft, but can and does still work to varying degrees in cold weather.
I love playing SPAA. I'd rather use guns or manual guiding missiles compared to the MANPAADs. It's a shame though, because I trained on the Stinger IRL and sadly it just falls short in WT. Great video Justin, as always, thanks for another upload!
Just want to add, the radar in the top left isn't actually a radar, just an IR scanner, so it doesn't show range. When you lock the aircraft it shows range due to a laser rangefinder.
As a proud SPAA player, I do watch some RUclips while waiting for some aircraft, yes it does take some time, but it worth every time you save teammates.
The Ozelot is probably one of my favorite anti-airs next to the Gepard A1 and FlaRakRad because of the BR they're at. Since the missiles have been changed to be uncaged a while back, something like shooting at a plane here (4:43) is possible since you could just yeet it over the building because gaijin doesn't understand manpad G overloads
I find it interesting to see how MANPADs gameplay is similar to gun AA at the lower BRs. You don’t want to expose yourself to enemy ground vehicles, get out of Spawn (although if there is aircraft I do like to abuse spawn protection), and find a spot that gives you decent visibility of the sky, while not being completely exposed to aircraft nor enemy ground vehicles. What you said about timing is absolutely correct, you typically want to open fire when they are about to attack a ground target and facing your direction or away from you. This probably changes by the time you get to medium range missile AA like the Tor-M1 or Pantsir, but still interesting nonetheless. The only difference is that as a gun AA, I tend to follow the tanks, not engaging the hostiles in the front, but staying in the rear but close to better aid my chances of shooting down a plane and also to protect against Flankers.
In the Strela you can just fire right when you got the lock, the missile will bend space and time until it hit, but Strela don't have radar so you have to wait for the ZSU to spot aircrafts
The Ozelot is pretty fun. Missile SPAA is quite relaxing to play (If not getting killed on spawn by 2 Su-35k and a KA-50), almost more about managing your missiles and targets than classic combat. And being small and quick makes it even more satisfying. Being big and slow can feel really boring to play, even if you kinda end up setting up shop somewhere.
This is old however, the Ozelot doesn’t have radar it has IRST which is why you don’t see a range. It will simply lock it the signal is strong enough regardless of range.
The one thing i can consistently have fun is playing spaa. I got really good with the coelian or now known as flakpanzer 341. It has been my favorite tank however there is a special slot for the ozelot. When i first got it. I was wondering how to play it but i found a ton of people just saying how bad it is. However after playing it over and over again i figured out how to use it. I employ the same strategies used in this video and it feels great that some people are actively using those strategies.
Yeah they do not like that a new project of them get killed pretty quick and not even usable in game. They should remove the nerfs so spaa is more a fun experience
they severely need to buff the lock-on range of the stingers vs helis and drones. Its asinine that a missile developed with helicopters in mind as a target, cant get a lock beyond 2.2km or 1.2km at worst. Plus technically anything with the K variant stingers should be able to fire as long as your IRST is locking the aircraft thanks to Datalink in the missile (thats also why they are not flareable, its gaijins way of representing datalink)
An IR seeking missile, that required super cooling of the seeker head to cut down on IR clutter....doesn't work well in cold weather? Huh? LOL My version of the Stinger was FIM-92C....I fired one in a blizzard in Colorado. It could track a BAT that I couldn't physically see, fired entirely on tone. Admittedly, a BAT has a MASSIVE IR signature.
They should give the FIM-92K its datalink capability, right now it's the FIM-92J that is in-game. As far as I know, every vehicle with the FIM-92K has a way to lock aircraft. This would finally counter drones and helis at this BR.
Hey Justin, since you are occasionally covering AA vehicles, any chance we could see a video on the Falcon in the British tree? I just got my first ever nuke thanks to the Falcon and I’d love to see your take on Britain’s anti everything vehicle
Got my first nuke with the U.K. in the falcon after 2 with France. Had such a dumb game, just drove around like a madman got 14 kills jed out and hoped in a nuke. Probably the weirdest game of my life.
@@danielfield2570 Thats just about what I did lmao. Was on Ground Zero and I just kinda drove around shooting things. I probably should have died three or four times but luckily the enemy team was even more clueless than me
I am an SPAA enjoyer I use the VCC80/60 and the otomatik in my lineup a lot. Main reason is I mained usa using xm1 and dealing with the russian cas/heli spam made me grow a hatred for planes so I sit in an antiair once jets start spawning so others wont have to deal with dying to cas all the time
It's all well and good, until you try for the ka50/52, which are supposedly invisible to such IR missiles. Same goes for combat drones- if the Radar could help lock, I would be happy. Meanwhile, the 2s38 is still the best SPAA before Pantsir and ADATS
Hi not sure why the tanks wouldnt shoot the Ozelot. If they leave it then it could shoot down all their team mates aircraft and cost them the game. Plus you get points for the kill the same as any other ground vehicle.
It's amazing how many people that SUCK at playing SPAAG. The vast majority just stays in spawn and shot waaaay too early. It's not really hard to play good if you just do as you. Most pilots expect bad SPAAG-players and counter them.
I do not mind spawn camping Helicopters on the top end BR, But let's be honest the Mi 24As and Ds are not exactly game breaking helicopters with those super slow falanga missiles and and unguided rockets.
ive been using the usa xm with the roland3 and the 2, 10.7 abrams. i think the m1a2 makes 10.7 really fun. and its so satisfying when i get players with the rolands.
When you get a wonky lock on a drone firing a missile, just launch. The stinger will lose the missile and re-lock to the drone 95% of the time. Free long range kill.
i think the pgz04a is pretty good, not as good as the gepard but the missiles are pretty good able to pull 18gs even if the stat card says 12gs at the same BR as this thing but with 25mms and thermals with electro-optic tracking to planes dont know you're locking on also could you do a revisit on the ztz99-II/II? its been 1-2 years since your last video and they now have the DTC-10 round and tandem atgms
I love playing the ozelot with the ozelot i have grinded multiple Vehicles in the German tech tree and the strela and im now going for the type 81 C is it worth it?
Ever since the update its pointless bringing planes since flares are useless against the missiles. I can dodge the lavad missiles or even flare them, but the german stingers cant dodge or flare anymore.
that intro clip happens so me so often, 90% of the time it's the ERA on the roof of russians blocking completely a Walleye or GBU, and it's consistent...
You said it feels kinda spawn campy for helis. But I mean, helis can shoot into tank spawns anyway. So I feel like it's a evil but lawful situation, kinda like how sometimes you're just forced into enemy spawns.
If a helicopter can spawn camp, SPAA can spawn camp.
Holy shit, I honestly never thought you'd cover this vehicle given how bad it can be at times, I mean a lot of the times missiles will miss, you have a hard time actually locking on anything. Now that's a total surprise!
Yea, it is frustating 😢
If you know how Stingers work, it's kinda easy
Having played both this and the strela try using the strela. Its considerably worse to get a lock
For these missiles to miss that's user error. You have to account for the target's movement when aiming, like you can lock and then fire way off to the side so it intercepts. Getting a lock is a whole other matter. The all aspect range on the stat card is really optimistic.
It's all about timing your shots. :)
Watching the missiles zoom towards their target and then BOOM! Target destroyed. Super satisfying and a really good vid!
its not a radar, its an IR system, it doesnt know the range unless you lock with the FCS
If this is the project you were talking about on stream, i love it. Not only it is a nice inside on Ozelot for those who doesn't have it or are getting killed by it. I would love to see you play more SPAAs in future. Maybe Sidam 25 Mistral could be interesting choice for next time.

The flarakrad kind of sucks nowadays, i have it as well. The flarakpanzer is far more effective for its BR
This video is perfect example of why anti airs should have UAV too. At least there would be something to do while waiting for targets
I love being a scout, but I love being an AA much more. Taking down those CAS planes is great, taking down helis is even better :)

I love the german commander saying „getroffen“.
in the stat card the stingers have 6km all aspect but can't lock a heli at 2km in front of you
Thats true. Stingers against helicopters are dogshit
Except when it works at 4 km randomly. Just to give you 20 ghost missiles in a row, obviously.
no heat to lock onto frontally at long range
Because it's an IR missile
@@HinFoo sure, but the stingers were made to destroy helicopters and low flying aircrafts. I’m sure that it’s way better irl
In the Strela you can just fire right when you got the lock, the missile will bend space and time until it hit, but Strela don't have radar so you have to wait for the ZSU to spot aircrafts
Even though it doesn't get a radar I'd still argue that the Strela 10M2 is the best spaa at it's BR.

6:38 the guy you killed there has "throttle locked at full", pretty fitting for what happened there
the santal is great fun as well now especially since the su25s dont eat ur mistrals like a fat kid at a chinese buffet anymore
When drones just came out, the Ozelot was great at killing drones. They usually couldn’t even fire once. But it got quickly nerfed, sadly.
Yeah they do not like that a new project of them get killed pretty quick and not even usable in game. They should remove the nerfs so spaa is more a fun experience
Locking doesn’t warn the enemy since you use optical lock
Fun fact about the Ozelot: the IRST is the Thales ADAD, the same as the Stormer HVM
The fact that this sits at 9.7 but the Strela 10M2 sits at 9.3 is criminal because the Strela is far superior.
when I'm playing SPAA, when there's nothing to do I'm always freaking out, tanks can be absolutely anywhere and my adrenaline skyrockets
Can we get Justin 80k atleast by the end of the year? Maybe 90k even? Like he seriously he deserves it

Same thing happened to Me. AGM 62ER from the A7E, hit the Ariete straight in the engine. Damaged only his top MG

Helicopters keep spawncamping tank spawns so its only fair to spancamp a helicopter spawn
Justin, i wish if next video 'd be about Type 93 (The toyota spaa, japan). Hope you will try the thing, its obviously fast af
There was a glitch for about a week where the missile was radar guided and ignored flares and IIRC if you lock a target.
16:48 it is. keep doing it
I am a huge fan of all 3 wiesels. I'm nearly done unlocking the 1A2 and once that's done I will probably only run wiesels in a lineup.

This thing works wonderful if you fire missile to enemy beyond 2,5 km closer to that will have less chance to hit unless its coming directly at u

This spaa is going to be my next grind
The ground based manpads code makes no sense. Sometimes you need to get below 1.5 click to get a lock on heli.

now try the LAV-AD. its a Jack of All Trade!
would be fun to have one missile AA, my best one is the CV90 lvkv its good but its not missiles ;)

its like driving a car and using phone you could crash
Whats the difference between the 2 Missiles ? I cant see any other characteristic
taking a m22 into a 10.0 game is also not helping the team.. they always seem to be the ones to die first and rarely ever get a kill
Could you play the Gepard 1A2?
Uh--huh. Sure.
Paying them very well I see...
i hate that thing, my teammates always kill my drones with that trash :c
Im wondering if I should use this thing as if it has guns, as in wait until an enemy gets within 1 mile, or would that not work
