  • The Ascent of Mount St. Elias, Alaska - audiobook
Filippo DE FILIPPI (1869 - 1938), translated by Linda WHITE MAZINI VILLARI (1836 - 1915)
Although Mount St. Elias had been known to native Americans for thousands of years and to Europeans since 1741 when Vitus Bering saw the peak and gave it its current name, it was not successfully climbed until 1897 by a party lead by Prince Luigi Amadeo di Savoia, Duke of the Abruzzi. This is the story of that expedition. Mount St. Elias was not climbed again for another 50 years when the advent of air support made the logistics of the climb less daunting. - Summary by Fritz

The Duke Of The Abruzzi was my great grandfather. He was also the Admiral of the Italian Navy. His courage, stamina and determination to make these climbs is unbelievable. How they could withstand the severe conditions wearing clothing that is nothing like the weatherproof fabrics that explores wear today. My tiara is off to you great grandfather. I wish I could have known you.
My mother could never understand where my “wanderlust”came from. My need to travel and explore.
Now I know! Bless your great grandfather. 👑🌹🍇🍷🥇⚓️🏔🏛⛏💞💖

I think the narrator is supposed to be saying marine but keeps saying maRain. It is bugging me because maybe he is saying it right but I cannot find any word from Google that fits. Also he says I-talian instead of Italian. Why not use a person with less idiomatic pronunciation.
