this song is the title track to his album "I'm ready". This song and a lot of his songs got heavily overshadowed by the success of "Can We Talk" which was the lead single off this album
This is my favorite single frm this album. I'm Ready should gone 8X platinum it's tht good. His 1999 album comes close to his I'm Ready album Era
This song is very similar to Tony Braxton's Breathe Again, so that may be it. Both written by Babyface around the same time as well so there's that as well.

History note. Usher caused L.A. Reid and Babyface to split up. Babyface wanted Can We Talk for Tevin Campbell LA Reid wanted it for Usher. Babyface won and gave the song to Tevin and LA became head of Arista and took Usher with him all the way to the bank.
I think LA knew that lil Tevin had to get older, and Babyface cared about quality. They both got what they wanted in the end.

'Can We Talk' is the one that charted and more people know but 'I'm Ready' is definitely my favourite off his album of the same name. These songs of my childhood amongst so many other classics makes Babyface a goated songwriter and producer too.

The beat is really just what Babyface did for most of his production. It’s the keyboard really. I remember this song came out and it was dope, but Can We Talk was really his peak as an artist. Which was a shame because this song was amazing, it was better artists out.
