    "If Peach is so competent in the movie, the why did she even take Mario on the quest at all?" is a nitpick I've seen a couple of times, which I think is kinda weird because she's not characterized to be some kind of heartless demon. She clearly cares about Mario, and believes that his companionship would nice on the long, arduous journey.
    Also because it's called the "Super Mario Brothers" movie. Yeah, thinking back on it that might've contributed as well...
    (Also great video, keep up the amazing work!)

      Interesting! I haven't heard that specific critique yet. I guess it relates to the negative "Girl Boss" trope, but I agree. Her care for Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom are so evident in this film. Tbh, she was more of a queen than a princess lol.
      Good point on the title too aha. Thank you for the encouragement, and I am glad you enjoyed it! :) - Kyle

      @@videogamemarketing4332 Yah. When watching the movie last Friday with her showing Mario the ropes in the obstacle course I had already decided to have an open mind and as I was really enjoying the film and the Bowser humor Peaches's main portrayal was looking somewhat promising. But later in the wedding which I predicted her having a trick up her sleeve but even as I prepared myself I instead clearly underestimated Illumination's execution of how far they were willing to go in making her this too perfect "Warrior Princess" without flaws even though she had a power-up, etc.. Funny thing is, when it was pulling me out of the film I didn't wanna be pulled out because of how much I was really rocking with the movie especially in the final battle with Bowser where I had to fight tooth and nail in my head just to hang in there before I got my satisfied ending of the Mario Bros defeating Bowser and the film itself.

    I'm all for giving Princess Peach more agency. It's why Zelda has traditionally been my favorite Nintendo princess. That said, there's a scene where Mario fails in a cheap attempt at laughter for younger audiences whereas Peach succeeds effortlessly; I felt it wasn't necessary to have Mario fail. Admittedly, it does give you an opportunity to show Peach's compassion; however, I felt more would have been said about her had she been thrilled to see him succeed after failing repeatedly.

    Not the biggest fan of her like this, I just couldn’t get used to it like a lot of people, I tried to get used it I really did, but I just couldn’t, Peach just isn’t Peach for this, I mean, I’m glad she mostly was her self but honestly that whole Daisy side to her really wasn’t necessary I think and kinda ruins her…
    It just doesn’t sit right with me and it feels extremely off putting with her acting like and feeling way too much like Daisy in certain scenes, spin-offs and non canon media or not, Peach never rolled her eyes or put her hands on her hips, or was mainly known for being strong or super tough and athletic trying to be bigger and better than Mario, looked and acted super confident or took on Bowser headfirst, she was always her girly innocent self, no, that’s all something Daisy would do in a movie, but for Peach, no, it’s weird because she’s not even and was never even portrayed like that… I understand they wanted to give her more of a role, but they didn’t need to strip away her personality like that literally turning her into Daisy, if you wanted to completely change her character like that, why not use Daisy from the beginning? Also the other reason? Hollywood… We just can’t have girly characters anymore… Not sure how they did it but there was really no excuse to completely change her and Bo Peep like that, you want strong headstrong characters, use Jessie and Daisy… But don’t strip away and soft girly girl personality or character just to turn them into them , that’s just dumb… I kinda wish they didn’t make her that way and wrote those scenes better where she felt more like Peach and not Daisy on top of being a typical strong female character acting better than everyone else… Even some of her lines are out of character and felt Daisy like… If you actually know Peach as a character on top of her personality you’d understand what I’m talking about… But if you don’t then you need to go back and study her character BESIDES her strongness and new Daisy personality because both of those aren’t just her main traits and really isn’t who she is… No matter how small it was, it’s just not Peach I’m sorry, you can try and back up the spin-offs and comics, but even in those they aren’t cannon and even still she still felt like girly original herself all the way and not anything or even a hint like Daisy unlike this… Anya didn’t fit her either is another problem…
    I will admit she’s beautiful and everything but I wish she didn’t have an entirety different personality… Peach is Peach, Daisy is Daisy… You don’t just change that out of nowhere…

      @videogamemarketing4332  Год назад +2

      Those are some good points. I personally liked this version of Peach, but it does bring in a problem: they can't really introduce Daisy in future films because Peach already stole most of her personality. I really Don’t like the movie version of princess peach. princess peach in the Super Mario Bros movie is the worst character in the movie in my opinion because peach in the movie didn’t really feel like the Princess Peach that I love from the games. She doesn’t use a frying pan as a weapon. She doesn’t have a high-pitched girly voice and she’s not feminine enough. She’s too much of a Mary Sue. She called Mario small And she says that Mario was not important. In my opinion, I think that princess peach in the Mario movie is an insufferable Mary Sue go boss and she is nothing like the original character. for me Personally I would prefer the movie so much better, if they made Peach a girly girl with a high pitch voice and a little bit of that helpless moment for Mario to arrive to save peach, and to fight bowser And I would prefer it a lot more if they cast Samantha Kelly from the Mario games to be voicing peach in the movie.

  • @LeChikapaw
    @LeChikapaw Год назад +2

    I loved the movie and I think she is great, and the way she was written makes the most sense to me, to this point she has been alone carrying all the responsability of her kingdom, she has no army, knights or warriors to fight for her, and protect her, you can tell that by how surprised and happy she is to find a toad that is willing to be with her through the whole thing. So it's clear she has been the one to always take hands on the matter, protect everyone and make things happen, and it seems she has had to deal with bowser a lot in the past. So it's remarcable that thorough all those hardships she has remained kind and sweet. So it makes all the sense for her character to be written to me more forward and active. Also, to make her more "delicate " you risk making her less expressive and more serious.
    And I disagree with the people saying she is perfect, attacking bowser was a bold choice but very very foolish, he had already shown his power and reach, what make her think she could take him head on at his territory surrounded by his peers and subjects with just a little ice!? She doomed her land, but Mario not giving up even when there didn't seem to be hope is what ultimately saves it.
    Did I mention how much I love they made this also the origin story for her and toad everlasting friendship?
    I think we are all in the edge about strong female characters after we have seen so mucv terrible writing seriously damage so many good characters and franchises, and we just wait to happen to our favorite characters.

    Peach being able to defend herself and fight back has been a thing since the 90s. Go read the comics, watch the cartoons, play Paper Mario and Mario RPG for SNES if you want to see what I mean. Also Peach being a "girl boss" isn't the real issue. Try Peach leaning towards being a Mary Sue as the criticism instead. Don't get me wrong Peach was one of the highlights of the film, but I can't help, but feel like something's missing.
