Enjoyed the video, Jeff! Interesting we both had Motivik at the #2 spot in our lists. That Judas Priest album is killer! Incredible they are still putting out such great music. I have to check out that Saint album. I never got around to getting that one.
Hi Jeff!!! that was a pretyy cool top ten list and your "honourable mentions" are also pretty cool and might be higher on any list too..... I have seeing other channels showing that Riot V release and saying good things about it, it seems now i have to give them a listen. Anyhow as always nicto see Accept, Saxon and the mighty Priest and some lesser known bands like All for the King or Flood making the top ten. cheers and be well
Sometimes I wonder if I include those long time traditional bands just because I feel they deserve it, or if they are really better than some I left behind. So hard to tell sometimes
And Thor still keeps on going. Well at least that album cover is looking awesome! I don't understand why I haven't listened that All for the king. Maybe I have seen it on your video and forgot to listen. Also Motivik was something that I haven't listened. At least I don't remember. So many good albums that didn't make on TOP 10. But of course there is room only for 10. :) Stryper I'd like to get. But on vinyl. But the prices... mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
I forgot to put the saxon on my list because when i made the video the cd was in a different room. I just checked the new SAINT, still sounding real metal.. Need the new Riot V. Nice top 10.
Impellitteri is the one I mentioned not having that would have been near the top. I almost included Whitecross here, but it would have been the only one on CD, so I decided to bump it for just vinyl. I have Harpazo digitally but not physically, or it would be in the running on a CD list for sure. Most likely I would also include the Durbin and Cleanbreak releases too - have you checked those out? Maybe not as clearly Christian enough to make the list?
@@JeffMcCormack777 I didn't realize Cleanbreak had a new album, 2 in total. I heard parts of the first one and wasn't keen on the vocals. I know a couple of members of Stryper are on the first one.
Ace Frehley is cool . not surprised you have Flood if you did a top 10 of 1984 for the album that's in 5th place how would you compare it to the 2nd place from 2024?
A nice bunch of bands that did't made it. Bruce Dickinson,Hammerfall and some i need to give a listen:Leah,Anette Olzon,Sunbomb. Out of the top 10 i only got Saxon and Judas Priest. Just recently got Saxon heard it yesterday. Fantastic. Lots of releases i did't get. Where did you out what came in 2024? Some sides or something? Sometimes i think it takes some time to found if a relases came 2023 late and then it's 2024 that stand on backcover.
If I understand you, you're asking how I figured what came out in 2024? I have all of my stuff logged on Discogs, so I did a quick look at all 2024 releases I have there, and then I also did a quick check in my digital library on my computer to see if I missed any from the year.
How many genres of metal are there? There are so many. Is there a trash metal genre? I miss "That Metal Show", that featured the goth girl, I forgot her name. Nice to see Judas Priest as #1. Surprised no Opeth, Blood Incantation or Lucifer, but it's all subjective, isn't it?
There are so many, and it is subjective. But yeah, I don't have anything but those bands. I tried getting into Opeth a few years back, but never did stick with them.
I think style wise, there was not much in 84 that would be similar to Motivik, so for me at least, would be hard to have them on the same playing field.
Great video, Jeff. We are honored to be on it! 🤘🏻
Absolutely

Yes, agreed, JP is putting out some of their best material. And yes, don't pass on the Saint, solid consistent stuff for them too.
@@JeffMcCormack777 Just watched Scott Waters Best of the Year and he also had Motivik at #2!

I still need that Priest record and that Saxon.
It is a killer one. So high energy

It is always tough to try to rank things, there were a lot of great releases that didn't make it.

Thanks, and yeah, had I included CDs, it would haver further complicated my list for sure, but too bad you missed out on including them.
Sunbomb, Saint, Whitecross, Stryper, Impellitteri and Harpazo will be on my ranking for 2024 on an upcoming episode.

@soldier7778 yeah, the second one doesn't have Robert or Perry, but same vocalist, James Durbin. Pretty good stuff.
Nice video! Need to check some of these out. Subbed from a fellow collector
Thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, that sounds like too much work to try to sort all of the amazing 1984 releases. Ha ha

@RandarosMusicworld oh yeah, I have a ton of reissues but just ignored those
@@JeffMcCormack777 Yeah but spend some time to find out that it's reissues. Some are from late 2024 and stand as 2025 but aren't-
