    I am a young adult (18) with 4c hair but when I wear extensions/ wigs with a looser texture I feel way more confident because the texture off the hair easily hides my “chubby” cheeks and it looks natural on me. ,Because I have a more Somalin looking facial structure I definitely look more “ambiguous” with this hair texture on. My mother does have an Indian father but we both don’t share his phenotype. Most women don’t want to admit it but looser hair textures are heavily admired which isn’t bad. The envy of people who naturally have that phenotype is what is wrong. It’s ok to have a preferences for what you think are beautiful but when you shame people that naturally has what you consider to be beautiful than your just reassuring how beautiful you think they are. I love this channel because it really sheds light on the unauthenticity in the black(all shades included) community.

      That’s fine. I only get mad when people wear curly hair then they make fun of others who were born that way. This is why I don’t talk crap about other phenotypes being “ugly” or “mediocre”, because I know at some point I will probably use a beauty enhancement to make me look more similar to them 😂💅🏼

      I agree, ever since this colorism conversation started, I have had a lot of light skinned guilt and there were times when I wished I were darker just because of the daily shaming from the toxic talking points.
      I knew there were flaws in the colorism argument, I just couldn't pinpoint what they were at that time until I found this channel. I am too getting over that and embracing myself again unapologetically.

    Thank-you so much for the shout out my love! 💕💕⚜️⚜️ You’re so right about us propping ourselves up and then propping up others who share our sentiment. So often, people want to be the “super star” of a movement and get all the accolades. I had someone tell me I was copying another Goldensphere creator when I first launched my channel & I was like first of all, I hadn’t even heard of that creator when I first thought to create a channel but even if I did, isn’t the whole point to spread the word as far as it can go? To gather our people and create a community for them? The more people that get on board and help to develop this community, the more others will feel comfortable joining. Humans like to be apart of a thriving group. It’s the reason most mixed people just joined up with black people in the first place. They couldn’t be white but they needed to be apart of something so they just went black. We have to show them that there is a thriving in between community for them to identify with. If the goal is for this to be a cult of 40 people following one single leader then that’s something different but if we want to create a massive shift in identity, that’s going to take multiple people standing up and helping out and creators like you get it ❤

    So have you made a video addressing them telling us to admit our privilege? Personally, I don’t think any type of privilege exist, and I grew up only around white people. How do we respond to that? Secondly, even if I did believe we had privilege, I wouldn’t care, nor could they make me feel bad for it. Then, what is admitting said privilege going to do? Nothing! I think they just don’t want to admit their jealousy and saying they’re mad over that is an easy cop out. I see the whole privilege situation similar to someone getting mad at a coworker for making more than them and being like, admit you make more than me😂😂😂 it sounds so stupid because what is supposed to be next after admitting privilege?? Like what do they expect to happen next? I remember you saying privilege is given to you, which is true, so it’s nothing we can control at the end of the day. So what do they want? I won’t give it but I’m curious because it always ends at them wanting us to admit this privilege… but then that’s it!

      I have a video coming up about that soon because I grew up as a “dark skinned black” woman (I know I’m mixed/light skinned, but everyone in my school was white and I was the only person of color, therefore I had the similar experience of being the darkest in the class etc .)

      They want us to admit our privilege plus a few things left unsaid:
      1. They want us to feel bad/apologize for said privilege
      2. They want us to dim our light so they can shine brighter
      3. They want us to pass on opportunities because they are not getting to same.
      4. They want us to downplay our beauty to make them feel more comfortable

      @@ExoticalsUnited oh that’ll be interesting. I’ve given up trying to understand/ sympathize with them, but since it’s coming from you it’ll give me the perspective that I need. I forget that many of us who grew up around whites have different experiences because I’ve never felt “othered” so it’s hard for me to understand this privilege thing and I just don’t believe it exist for any race or complexion. Not sure if because of that I come off as dismissive… can’t wait for your commentary!

    • @sophiam9886
      @sophiam9886 5 месяцев назад

      Hi. If your daughter is under 16yrs old, I'd say that maybe you can watch the videos yourself and then relay the messages in the videos as a mother to her. You know your daughter's personality as well as her temperament, so you'd probably know best how to express these messages in a way that is most beneficial for her.
      If she's 16 or over, I think she's old enough to listen to the videos on her own. You could start by watching a video with her and you two can talk about it together. Then, she subscribe to the channel and watch the other videos at her own leisure.
      Just be sure to encourage her that it is okay to come to you if she has anything she'd like to discuss that she heard in any of the videos. This is just my opinion, I'm no expert.😊 I hope it helps, though.💫🩷💫💛

      Yup! She’s in my videos . “Exotical” just means being mixed or “ looking mixed” (aka benefitting from an “ism”. Colorism, texturism or featurism.) glorilla benefits from colorism and because of that, she’s at risk for being the target of the other two “isms”, and she’s also likely to have her success invalidated and tied to her skin tone . For more info please watch my what is an exotical” series because this channel includes BOTH MIXED AND MONO BLACK women. What we all have in common is benefitting from “isms” and being thrown in and out of blackness due to our features or dna.
