Look. I love swiss/high end watches. But being a family man my disposable income is shared with 3 teenagers. So I've been picking up what were cheap vintage watches. Have a few Marlins that I like as much as my only Rolex (1503). So anything that looks good, runs decent. And most importantly, doesn't spark debate with my wife is a plus in my book.
I’ve got over a dozen Timex so obviously I love the brand, that being said, the q never quite did it for me….. but I think I’m gonna have to buy that black dial on the tropical- it just looks great! Glad to see them responding to customers and reviewers!
Received my M79 two days ago. I am liking it. Nice quality imho for the price. Bracelet is solid quality. Lum is good. Weight of the watch is comparable to my Submariner. Wish for Sapphire, but otherwise no complaints.
I like the looks of the bracelet changes, and the blue dial with the blue/black bezel is nice. Nice to see rubber strap options on the Q, and they go well with the design. I still would love to see a Pepsi version of the M79, especially on that new bracelet.
I have a Q Timex (Todd Snyder) and I have arm hair, haven't had a huge issue with the bracelet while using it honestly. Sizing it wasn't fun though. I kinda wish they made a Pepsi M79 especially with that upgraded bracelet but I'd even take a Pepsi M79 on that new tropic strap. An upgrade to that movement would be a plus as you mention as well. I still think they are slightly overpriced but hey there is almost always a sale around the corner and when I'm wrong they sell out (See Giorgio Galli S1s or for that matter the Pepsi Q seems to regularly sell out) so maybe Timex just understands good business pricing better than I do. :) The other issue I would say is Timex really should make all of these sport style watches at least 100m water resistant that might help justify the price more.
The original strap is part of the charm. I don't like these new straps, and I bet that "rubber" one is of bad quality and will pick up lint like hell. But it is good to have more choices, surely some people will prefer these.
Really like that new M79 auto in blue, but please Timex give us sapphire crystal and a better movement (9 series Miyota?). Thank you for sharing Chris.
Hi Chris thanks for your review, the M79 is a cool watch. However if Timex did what they have with the G.G S1 38 which I now have cool watch . So they ugraded the movement & Crystal GLASS the case is amazing & more . So come on Timex , I recogn you would get alot more custom
I was a big timex fan when I was younger. I had a Ironman watch. Had the funky indieglo which was head a shoulders better than a light. That watch disintegrated. Buttons popped off. I bought a casio. I still have and it's 20 year old. I work construction. I never like timex after that. I still think they are garbage from a 10 yr old point of view. They never changed my idea. So funny these are the same reasons I like Timex. My 2 year old smashed my Seiko 5 and vowed no expensive watches until the kids are out of the house.

I think that automatic sunburst with the solid link bracelet is trying to eat away some of the PRX market.

Terrible watch for $300. Only 50 meters water resistant and by the looks of it you cant even size the new bracelt. Timex really fell off.

To be honest I'll rather have a Steeldive watch with the NH35 movement. Better specs for a lot less money.
