- Get Luminar NEO with discount code ATNEO here: bit.ly/Luminar... In this tutorial let's look at how to use layers to composite photos together.
We'll be covering a lot, including how to bring in new elements to combine them into your original photo, techniques for masking in Luminar Neo such as gradients, the brush tool and MaskAI. We'll colorize elements of the photo and I'll also show you how to get Luminar back up to speed if things start to get a bit laggy.
If you've joined my channel memberships with the including downloads option, all the photos and resources will be made available in our shared folder. I started the photo (which was shot at ISO 6400) by running it through Luminar Neo's Noiseless extension. If you have grainy (noisy) photos and are looking for a solution to improve the quality, check out the AI extensions here: bit.ly/NeoPlugins (click the "validate" in the top right if you already own NEO).

G'day Anthony
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT WORK MATE.
Just imagine what you can do would the erase the background tool along with the layers. It would be mind blowing!
All I can say........
.......'May the LAYERS be with you.'
Greg
I'm a new user of Luminar Neo, and this video was a real eye opener on how powerful a tool it is. I'll be watching more.
Good to hear. Thanks for watching!
I am amazed at how much I have learned in just
this one video - can't thank you enough xx
Fantastic!
Anthony this video is AWESOME; I learned so many concepts related to editing, also you see things I did not. Wow, thank you very much for the link to this video
Glad it was helpful! 👍
One of your Best tutorials Thanks Anthony very helpful
So much work went into this tutorial - really appreciate it. I started using this program yesterday and this really helped me to appreciate just how much creative potential Luminar Neo has - 🙌
Glad it helped Andy! Yeah, you're right a lot of work involved in putting these tutorials together, so I appreciate the comment 😀🙏
Im so glad you keep in the issues that you face when using NEO - I struggle with the erase tool and how it leaves wierd artifacts and also how memory intense it is. However this is a great masterclass shoing the potential of NEO. Thank you.
Thanks Norman. I tried to put a lot into this one so I'm glad you like it 👍
As usual your tutorials are crisp, dense, easy to digest--
congratulations..
Thanks!!!
Wow, Antony fust a great tutorial. You are so creative and your tutorials on Luminar Neo is so much appreciated
Thanks Glen!
Thanks! Very time I watch one of your tutorials I gain great tips and tricks. Layers have been a challenge for me, but you make it look fun and easy.
Thanks Rebecca!
What a great demonstration edit. Thanks!
AMAZING! Learnt so much. Thanks. You're the best tutor around!
Oh my goodness! Thank you Anthony, so absolutely well done.
Wow this was incredible. I learned a lot this time. Thank you.
Great to hear Gavin. 😊 Thanks. I put a lot into this one.
you asked if their was any weeds - didn't see any. Really appreciate the advice.
Thank you 😊
Great tutorial - your creative inspiration and Luminar expertise is much appreciated. Thank you!
Awesome Paulina. Glad you liked it. Took a while to put this one together. 😀
perfect as always. Have you tried the xencelabs tablet? thx
Very cool video Anthony!
Cheers Matias.
Well done Anthony. I’m new to Luminar but I’d love to know how to do a composite image of a group of people that were lit stage by stage with OCF and then the lighting stands etc get brushed out? Neil Redfern does this with PS but I don’t have Adobe any more!
Hi. I have done a couple of vids that might help with this. If I get in front of my computer later I'll see if I can send the links.
@@AnthonyTurnham that’s wonderful Anthony!! Many thanks and keep up the great work
I joined today. Where do I find the textures folder you speak of? Thanks.
Hi Ray. Thank you! If you could send me your email address through to anthonyeditsyourphotos@gmail.com I'll add you to the folder access. 📂 There's a few other video resources and photo files in there too.
Hi Ray! Thanks so much for the email. I really appreciate your support. I see you're not on the membership with downloads option but the "support" option. Sorry, as you were asking for the download folder I wrongly assumed you'd joined with that option. Sorry.
Hi again Anthony! As promised to comment once Her Majesty had her funeral - 😿well it's mostly finished so here goes! I found your video very interesting, but highly complicated, so many layers and effects. It will take time to master those layer skills, especially as we still have to export and open again instead of simply merging layes like I can with PaintShop Pro or Affinity Photo. By the way, I have been in touch with "Luminar Insiders" and they have confirmed that they are going to re-introduce the Clone and Stamp tool, but when?😼 Regards from Felix the Cat. 🐱
Hi FTC 👋 Thanks. Yes, I watched the funeral too. Very emotional. Yes this one's a "masterclass" and I intended to go deeper with it. Hopefully a little rematch here and there and all will become clear.
The clone and stamp is coming in the next update which is scheduled for this month... it's long overdue IMHO.
Thanks for always watching, commenting and supporting my channel. I really appreciate it! 🙏
Hi Anthony! At the moment I'm paying my respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, so I will write again regarding your video after the funeral. I'm a bit cut-up and sad regarding Her Majesty's death; as she was much loved by the nation. Regards from Felix the Cat. 😿😿
Indeed she was. An amazing life of service. It's been an emotional time 😔.
Thanks!
Wow, thanks so much Bob! That's very kind of you and much appreciated! I'm sat here in NZ with my morning coffee, a big goofy grin, and the warm and fuzzies! 😀🙏
Excellent thank you!
Thanks Kit!
Hi Anthony, the reason u couldn't export in the edit window is because the develop tab was still open... Thanks for the vid!
just wondering, what are your PC specs?
you did suggest that using a tablet makes this type of editing easier. Would you be able to show how to do this with Neo? I'm a bit confused about compatibility with Neo - saw a post from Skylum saying only can be used as a mouse, and then a few days ago they released a video showing Neo being used with the tablet you recommend.
It's only the position that's tracked with the tablet. Really it should also read pressure sensitivity, but being able to feel a pen in hand to make strokes is way easier than using a mouse, regardless of pressure.
Anthony, any idea when Skylum will add a Filmstrip to the edit adjustments? Not having a Filmstrip in edit really is limiting this software. However, I really enjoy your tutorials.
I just love your composites videos. And no, not into the weeds at all. I spent about an hour recently on maybe a 150 by 150 pixel area that just wasn‘t right because of light and eventually fixed it with clone and stamp (in Affinity Photo). That ceiling light had been bugging me since the start of the video 😅
Hi could you do a Video with a realistic Compositing ? ( That would be interesting since everybody does fanatasie stuff , which in a way is easier than a realistic composing
