You get flattys on bait pretty often aswell when fishing for whiting, I've caught an 81cm flatty on live yabbies.

i’m new to this, can you explain how to get fish (flatty’s) off the hook without a tool?
Best bet is to buy a pair of pliers, you can get em from Bunnings. If you can't get a tool you have to use your finger which I wouldn't recommend

Flathead are probably my 2nd fave fish….sear a bit of black on it and mm mmmmmmm …fresh is so so so much better than fish n chip shop
