Extremely helpful! Best speaker demo available, I believe! Surprised as how similar the V-type and Creamback H sound.
Thanks that's really kind of you.

I liked the H creamback mixed with the V-type , they are surprisingly similar.

What this tells me is... the V-Type sounds very good by itself! I almost always preferred the V-Type alone clips, save for when you mixed in an Alnico
Yeah the V type with the alnico's seems to be a popular choice here. Thanks for watching.
You guys are wonderfully nuts!! Such a great resource of knowledge. The V-type really handles the competitors well, it is really well voiced ;-)
Thanks Christian, I'm glad you like the videos!
Lately, after listening to sound comparisons for months I am finding a clear favourite emerge to my ears and it's not what I would have chosen when I began all this listening. But man... I love that G12H-30 anniversary. Not the most popular choice I know, but I think it's the speaker for me.
An underrated speaker is the V Type, and it sounds amazing with the Alincos & Greenbacks. Thanks for putting the video together, love your videos.
Thanks Simon, I'm glad you found it useful.
It has a similar sensitivity ratings as a greenback as well. I'm going to mix these in a 2x12 next week.
@@qua7771 Let me know how it goes, interested in how it would sound in a real world example. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested either :-)
@@GuvnaOnSpotify I will. It won't be here until the beginning of the week.
If I understand correctly the shoot out in this video did not have the speakers mounted in the same cabinet. Having them in the same cabinet always sounds like they are more connected to me.
That last one really popped for me. The warehouse speaker.

V Type sounds pretty balanced to me in this demo. Just the right amount of honk and sizzle. I think I still prefer the G12M Greenback. It’s got that classic bark.
Amazing sound place right here ! Choosing the right speaker in respect to whole equipment is very important. I like those speakers with not too much hi-mids : maybe less definition and hole through the mix but still velvet for my fingers and ears. So, I like V-Type but G12-65 Heritage is my next choice for sure. I like the "resonance" it has. Thanks a lot for your fantastic videos !
I use V type combined with Creamback and it's a amazing thing everytime i play!!! A really great speaker from celestion that people thinks it's a bad product because it's not expensive as the rest of the line. Thanks for do things like this, this really helps a lot!
Which creamback do you pair with it?

Awesome video guys 👍 Can’t decide now which one I like, but appreciate the effort you’ve gone to to confuse the hell out of me. 😁
Thanks Danny, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Your videos is very informative! Bought new Celestion V-Type for 55$. I find my Greenback is to woody on cleans for a VOX-slyle amp. Yea, V-Type sounds closer to V30 or even Blue))
The best takeaway from this exercise is how great your JMP and PRS match up- Rock out!
haha, I'm glad you like it. That's not even my best JMP ;)
it would be interesting to see a series of videos on how the sound changes in different cabs, so for example, the V-Type in a 1x12 fatbaby and then a Ported cab... you could build a huge library of sounds that show how the cab changes the sound of the speaker. No-one else has done that to my knowledge
We're working on it mate. I think that may be the next run of videos... it just takes a load longer to do ;)
@@ZillaCabs sweet!
It has been done before for acoustics research...
But still not shown on RUclips.
So yes, it would be really interesting and appealing to a large number of people.
I recently played a v type through a peavey invective mh, played metal tones and it was just amazing sounding
I think we're going to have to revisit the Vtype as it gets a lot of love. Thanks for watching.

HI Jeff, I'm going to try and put the time stamps in later today if I get a minute.
@@ZillaCabs i did it for you :D
Celestion V type has a balanced tone, using and eq you can get a lot of different tones. I have it on my 1x12 inch combo amp and I see no reason to replace it.
Thanks for sharing, planning my first 1x12 build and I've on the fence between V-Type and the Vintage 30, I feel the same about the V-Type it offers a lot more to work with than the V30
Enjoyed the video and thought some of the pairings worked well. Personally I tried mixing a V-Type and a G12M RI Greenback in a closed back 2x12 cab. I found the pair difficult to EQ. Independently, though, each speaker is great and can be complimentary in a two amp setup. I also prefer the V-Type in an open back cab. Thanks the the video!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We haven't used the V type that much before but I have been told it works best in an open back too. I see it quite a lot in combos.
The celestion gold heritage was heavenly..like good god. That ones my fav for sure
Thats really cool. The Vtype has been quite popular with alnico speakers in these videos.
My favourite mixes were the G12H30 (both), the G12M25 and the Classic Lead 80. Most sounded good. I’ve got a Creamback Neo and V Type in a 2x12 now with a JCM800 and it has so much high end. Also, when really cranking it the Neo starts thinning out. I’m looking for something a bit different now which brought me here. 😎
Great, glad you liked the video mate.
Seems like the treble is subdued in the V type. Mixes well with the brighter drivers.
V Type pairs well with a Greenback they are same sensitivity so they play evenly together.
I prefer the v type with the greenback. It has a nice ac/dc tone to it. I also like the cream backs.
Sounds like a great, classic sounding speaker, just the low end seems to be quite on the looser side. I got it in a Laney 112 recently and I'm quite happy with the sound yet. Like it best with the V30 or the classic greenback, which seem to improve the definition clarity.
That mystery speaker is an Eminence Screamin' Eagle, found in some Marshall MG 2x12 combos.
Good guess but not right in this case.
Hempback?
Is there gonna be a big reveal?
You can literally see "celestion" stamped into the frame.
I like the v type and it has worked well with many amps. Right now i have a 4×10 with vt jrs and jensen mod q0 50s
I’ve always preferred the Mystery over all others. My favorite.
I’m wondering if that’s the HempBack judging from the lumpiness of the paper cone. Although it isn’t green sooooo idk
Could you do, please, a new video with the new Celestion neo V Type comparing with other speakers?
Yeah, we've been meaning to do that one. It shouldn't be long now.
It seemed like it sounded best with the G1265 and the G12T75. And the mystery monster.
I'm looking forward to revealing the mystery speaker. Thanks as always for watching.
It's so weird how the brain processes sound. I haven't liked the G12 Century in any combinations but alone it sounds pretty good. Meanwhile I haven't liked any Creambacks alone but I think they tend to sound great in almost every combination.
You need a this demo with a DV77!!
I wish I could get my hands on one, I can't get one anywhere.
Celestion VType sounds fantastic in this comparison....
Thanks Manuel, glad you liked it.
wow thats a great video! Thanks very much for sharing!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
thanks for this comparison! the Celestion G12M Greenback (Classic Series) - 25 W - 16 Ohms
gets me somehow :)
I have a couple of V-Types (one in a combo, one in a 112 cab) and have a Greenback on the way. I think that's going to work!
Hi Matt, I think that pairing came out really good in the mix. Let us know how you get on with them. Paul
Billy Gibson uses a secret pedal, there's a RUclips video about his "secret pedal". It's a guitar graphic equalizer pedal, he only bumps up the 400 slider. This makes the Celestion V type speaker put out some growl and punch and the speaker sound fuller. Behringer sells one for $25.
If I had to choose only one, I want Greenbacks heritage 20watt ( EVH) . If I pare V-type with another Celestion, I choose V-type + V30.
I love the EVH greenback, its a great speaker.
So true
V type sounds like a Greenback with some added beef to me. Great value speaker IMO.
hey what's up man
I have a question,what speaker you prefer between v type and g12-75 ?

I keep on rewatching old videos to freshen up my memory of some speakers. I think G12H Anniversary plus V Type in 2x12 might be best cheaper option for the classic rock tones. G12H Anniversary brings more top end and is more scooped while V type is all Celestion middle range one can have. Together clean and driven they sound pretty good and do not break the bank.
Trivia moment, PRS Hendrix cabs use V Type.
I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. I think the Vtype came out pretty good in these videos. Thanks for watching.
What I've learned from this video, is that I love the greenback. I don't own one, but I should!!
The greenback is a cool speaker for sure.
very well done comparison.
I really dig the V-type, it kinda sounds in the same vein of a g12m greenback. Could you show the new V-type neo? I’m so curious about that one.
By the way, any idea why Celestion still doesn’t produce a neo version of the g12m greenback?
Ooh that would be a great speaker, a neo greenback, or at least interesting to hear. As soon as we get hold of the Vtype neo then I will get it recorded for sure. Im looking forward to hearing it too.
hi, sorry for the imperfect language, I am writing to you from Italy, I have a vintage marshall studio head, with matching 2x12 cabinet with v type cones, honestly I can't please them, they are woody, you who have tried and understand cones, can you recommend a suitable solution for that plexy reissue? I would also like to have some advice on a possible coupling, I have already tried to couple together: g12h 55/75;
2 evh greenback;
2 creambacks; 🤯🤯

@@OperationEndGame thanks man 🤙🏻
I think the G12H-30W 70th Anniversary was the best sound of all of them. IMHO 7:35
I think those two mix really well together.
I think the mystery speaker might be a WGS Reaper HP?
It was something else.
thanks, great video - it's funny how a Greenback always sounds 'right' somehow
Classic Vintage 30 Beeeeeeesssss!
Please do double track in next video. Gives a better picture of sound
This vids are awesome!
Thanks mate.
So im guessing the neo v type is newer i cannot find a neo vs ceramic for the v type
It is a newer speaker. We've had a few issues editing new videos (we got super busy over the last few months... not the worst problem to have, but not great for the channel). We've done a few shootouts on that speaker and it is really cool. We'll be putting them up in the next few months for sure.
Question: how does a eminence em12 compare to a Evm12l ? Or a eminence delta pro 12a? Maybe is time for round two with the Thick boy, redback, governor, etc
Yeah we definitely need to get more Eminence speakers in. I need to brush up on their range a little.
@@ZillaCabs i got another idea! High end speakers vs speakers with bad reputation 🤣🤣🤣 for example i got celestion rocket 50. People trash those, i dont love them but i dont think is thaaaat bad like people say it is.

I have a bassbreaker 30r with a v type its very bass heavy with an oversized semi open cab. I really want to but a neo speaker in it but am not sure which one
Any neo will take some bass and low mids off, so will do the job of removing the boominess.
Very helpful.
Thanks, glad you like it.
That V30 that You demo in all videos, is that China or UK made? What year?
It is a standard Chinese V30 and it will be a recent one, so 2020 I should have thought.
I put a v-type in my Dsl40 and hated it. Sounded gutless and weak so replaced it with the v30 and never looked back
It because DSL is sucks itself))
@@mikhail6289 it sucks itself? Lol
Guys, why don't you include the K100 in your demos? Not specifically these demos (I know these are all 16 ohm and the K100 only comes in 8 ohm), but I think you never demoed those in the past as well.
Good questions, it is the impedance thing here. I tell you what though, we haven't used the K100 yet so we should definitely do a video on it, you are right.
@@ZillaCabs 4x12 oversized cabs with K100s are god level cabs as far as Im concerned!
It's a very good speaker
I had a 4x12 with Vtypes and K100’s in it and it sounded fucking immense. The bottom end on the K100 and the top and mids on the Vtype blended really well in an X pattern.
I'll be waiting for those dang hempback
Me too Red, I've got 100 on order. We'll definitely be doing a bunch of videos on them as soon as we can.
@@ZillaCabs i still wonder will you ever get high while playing em tho
Is this the same V-Type included in the Marshall DSL-40CR?
Yes
To tell you the truth I don't hear a lot of difference between them, but I got a vintage neo 16ohm just lately and it sounds great, and its light weight.
Has anyone guessed the mystery speaker correctly? Is it a seventy-80?
Yeah there are a couple of correct guesses... its not the Seventy-80 though.
What difference does it make in this vid? None.
What do they sound like clean?
You can't hear the difference? We get complaints when we do clean comparisons as it is harder to tell the difference with low and no gain.
I can hear the difference between them but I can twiddle some knobs and make changes to the material or porting of the cab to make any of them sound similar to any other with a distorted high gain signal. Only a clean signal will let me hear the tone of the speaker and what it can't do . From a cabinet designer of a well respected company.
PS. I came to find out if the VType will deliver the beauty of a vintage 30.
Thanks anyway. Good luck.
