The can that you was trying to read was Synthaprufe ..... high performance waterproofing liquid used as a damp proof membrane and water-repellent coating. It forms a flexible membrane when cured and provides an effective barrier to water and water vapour. Synthaprufe LAC is easy to apply and is suitable for use in the most demanding site locations.
3:52, the owner used a washing machine drum (stainless steel) to act as a prefilter for the filtered pump, smart, very smart. That thing won't rust rot or anything.
Those panels are made from something called mosaic concrete. It's a very durable construct if done right. I have floors in a 129 years old house that are barely worn. Compared to modern standard materials, ... no comment.
the big room with the angled windows and weird lights at 18:30 reminded me allot of Portal 2. I was just waiting to hear GLaDOS tell you to start testing.
The incinerator was in the ladies toilet and was used to burn sanitary towels, I used to have to carry out maintenance on them. To test we just put a screwed up piece of paper in them.
your "incinerator" was for the female amenities and would have been for feminine hygiene products. Still were in use up to the 80's or so.Had to fix them as an apprentice electrician.
You know all that copper it's worth a lot of money so are those electric motors a person to be a millionaire if they were to get it all out just one American that knows all about it
Wow fascinating as someone who fitted out the remaining IUKADGE sites in the 90s and was also employed at Buchan and Portreath sites I’m very familiar with these sites.
Great video, but I can't stress enough you need protection against asbestos containing materials (ACM's). I would adivse full protection but at the very least use disposable respirators to standards EN149 (type FFP3). Asbestos would have been used in almost everything in this time period, pipes, insulation, electrical gaskets and the ceiling coating you can see crumbling. I can see ACM's everywhere and in such an enclosed environment the risks are increased.
Weirdly watched part two before heading here. Are they refurbishing or just stabilising? Or are they just trying to save what's left? Interesting video!
nibunker good to hear! So much history is being demolished as it's the 'easiest option' of dealing with them. Good to see some Initiative in trying to save and preserve!
They may need to refurbish that place with the two nuclear capable countries egging each other on at that moment. Very interesting place though so thanks for showing bro.
Teddy Bass They aren’t. The reason the bunker flooded was due to the RAF cutting all the wires on the surface and demolishing the cable entrance shaft.
You were questioning about the two canteen hatches and you thought one area was for males and the other for females. The reason is there were the junior Ranks Mess Room and the Officer's Mess Room.
I can't believe Summer's already over and it's starting to get cold again.. I'd Kill myself, but how could I watch your Videos from heaven or hell? ..and who would feed the Birds?
SPIE Matthew Hall provide multi technical and support services from initial mechanical and electrical design, through installation, commissioning to long term maintenance and facilities management.
That Black tin in the toilets that had NCB Caerphilly on it, im not sure exactly what it is but NCB = National Coal Board & Caerphilly is a town in South Wales, quite near Cardiff.
I was thinking the whole time of all the asbestos as well as cement dust making all of that 'mist'. You were all covered in the stuff as you walked around. As another viewer commented, please wear some kind of respirator and disposable decorators work wear. Do you ever use gas detectors as you are in confined spaces and below ground. Stay safe, the health and safety police has spoken. Oh and yeah, stop spending so long showing us broken bogs, we want to see secret squirrel stuff. Everyone knows what a khazi looks like. Great videos though. It made me laugh how everyone was curious as to the function of the 'incinerators'. I read the comment by some poor bloke who had to fix them back in the day. Urrrgh!
Wonder why it is that people who explore abandoned places feel the need to show in the toilets. Is there something fascinating about old, crusty toilet bowls? I have been noticing this on various channels of abandoned places explorations and never understood the need to show the actual toilets and in particular inside the bowl. There is so many interesting things to see in an old building without a in depth and personal tour of the bog. Otherwise, great vids.
It's mostly about living conditions, but also because it humanizes an otherwise bland, bleak, bordered space. Whether it's intentional or pure human psyche, that's up to you to figure out. In short, it's a center piece for anyone to open to. 'look, there's the loo'.
You guys seriously need masks. Asbestos is everywhere. Not joking. I'm an electrician in New Zealand, I do ventilation and HVAC maintaince. Old buildings are loaded with asbestos. Those fans and air conditioning equipment would likely still work, and the fans would probably still run for years. One of the buildings I maintain has old British made GEC fans from the 1950s than run day in, day out with no maintainence,
Here's something else you may not know stay old tile used in buildings in houses way back when was also made with asbestos so was the glue that held the tired tiles down
You know there's a right way of removing asbestos you have to put up a lot of plastic keep everybody out marked as asbestos but if it's a small job you can take a squirt bottle with water in there Fred on the asbestos it will not cause a problem
You know I wish I had a lot of money I could fly overseas meet up with you guys cuz I'm very experienced certain areas asbestos high levels of radiation it's a shame I can't make it over there take care my friend
So I'm watching this old video but I did start sit seeing things were you might say that something else might not be what it is but I'm a leave a comment
I am an American I just thought I'd let you know that so I have a lot of experience with the asbestos I know the right way and the wrong way of removing it the wrong way the wrong way is faster I will leave it to your imagination
Great bunker - and even better to see that it appears to be being preserved for future generations. Nice one, gents.
Nice to see the ops. room (or 'happidrome') still intact, complete with viewing gallery. (18:35).
The catering was for Officers and Senior NCOs in one, the other was for the junior ranks, mine Corporals and below.
Great trip. Thanks for taking us along.
One of your best, now I just have to wait for the rest of the parts
Awesome find gents, thanks!

The name of the place on the can is Caerphilly too, a town in south Wales
Nice old Belfast sink there...
Love the lights at 14:30 :)

12:54 this Glass tube is a mercury switch. These were often used for time control in earlier times.
the big room with the angled windows and weird lights at 18:30 reminded me allot of Portal 2. I was just waiting to hear GLaDOS tell you to start testing.
Brilliant explore
Live for these videos...
The incinerator was in the ladies toilet and was used to burn sanitary towels, I used to have to carry out maintenance on them. To test we just put a screwed up piece of paper in them.
Great stuff!
what was that deep room used for with all those lights facing down into that room
Awesome explore Ian
Fuck me that torch is brighter then my future!
Akeruz ..Okay, yea. Well, post a couple a photos of yerself; I'll consider it.
Wait... what!? haha
Great video guys
Been looking forward to this one
I like these videos, exploration around is awesome.
Is this a different bunker or the same which says in the title " R3 Rotor Bunker " ( Like RAF Neatishead ) ?
Looks cleaner and there are lights.
It's an R3 Bunker as is Neatishead
Ok
@@MrL4t3 though Neatishead has had a lot of update and stuff added
Looks like a nice brass coat hanger on the back of them doors
your "incinerator" was for the female amenities and would have been for feminine hygiene products. Still were in use up to the 80's or so.Had to fix them as an apprentice electrician.
A 'bunny burner'.
Have seen them in old buildings in New Zealand too.
You know all that copper it's worth a lot of money so are those electric motors a person to be a millionaire if they were to get it all out just one American that knows all about it
Amazing 😊
Wow fascinating as someone who fitted out the remaining IUKADGE sites in the 90s and was also employed at Buchan and Portreath sites I’m very familiar with these sites.
Wow, I was also stationed at Buchan and Portreath
What work are the builders doing ? Are there opening up the bunker has a museum? Great video.
Great video but I'm missing some explanations as to what a certain item was supposed to do .
+Erwin Rommel yeah I know what you mean will need to sort a cut down version of this three part video series :)
You should bring some Crazy Glue with you next time, and glue that toilet back together.
The room with all the lights was the Radar Plotting and map room, I think.

This location has had the all clear and contains no asbestos:)
That's fantastic picture quality. Love the video. Have you ever thought of exploring in Europe for bunkers etc to do with ww2?
For anyone who is curious, "synthaprufe" is a waterproofing membrane.
Weirdly watched part two before heading here. Are they refurbishing or just stabilising? Or are they just trying to save what's left? Interesting video!
LightingDesk stabilise and try to save what’s left. Very dedicated bunch of people.
nibunker good to hear! So much history is being demolished as it's the 'easiest option' of dealing with them. Good to see some Initiative in trying to save and preserve!
You need that fan for your Kitchen Ian.
+ben wright lol yeah
Why does the audio cut out at seemingly random?
What are the builders doing? Are they renovating the bunker
whats all the construction sounds in the back round sounds like cutting and hammering ????
Raymond J Builders stabilising / restoring bunkr
thanks buddy ...
+Raymond J the bunker is being looked after by group of people who are restoring bits of it :)
They may need to refurbish that place with the two nuclear capable countries egging each other on at that moment. Very interesting place though so thanks for showing bro.
Why the workman and electricity switched on down there? Is the place being overhauled?
Damian Jones A group of people are trying to preserve it as is and make it reasonably safe to visit.
Synthaprufe is an oil based waterproofing paint. Black in colour.
MAY NEED TO HIDE IN THERE IF KIM LOBS NUKES LOL, WELL DONE LADS ENJOYING THIS ONE.
All those cables must have been telecommunications. Its possible they are still live
Teddy Bass They aren’t. The reason the bunker flooded was due to the RAF cutting all the wires on the surface and demolishing the cable entrance shaft.
they look like massive flood lights .so people in the control room can see proper.. at whatever was in that
room
What torch is Darren using can someone link it for Me?
Daniel Asher the head torch? You can find them on eBay for £15 - £12
lol whats the deal with the working xmass lights in there haha
+Raymond J it's the builders rest room :)
You were questioning about the two canteen hatches and you thought one area was for males and the other for females. The reason is there were the junior Ranks Mess Room and the Officer's Mess Room.
Good thing it's locked and sercued.
Lol secured my mistake :D
IKS Exploration Hehe. Sorry! I couldn't resist. :)
A really cool place to explore. Would you live there? I would.
Wow😮
This reminds me of a abandoned vault in fallout
Don't want to wait a whole month just to see this location that's torture. Ian if I give you money can I watch all of them?
Lol trouble the videos are so long :( I dont want to upload a 1hour video lol
Good to see that there are no Gary clones present in there.
See that exploded battery at 6:20? !!
I can't believe Summer's already over and it's starting to get cold again.. I'd Kill myself, but how could I watch your Videos from heaven or hell? ..and who would feed the Birds?
WOW
silver is the best conductor of electricity... too expensive to use now so we use copper
Annoying sound cut outs. Is that editing or faulty equipment?
thegeneral123 probably occurred during upload.
+thegeneral123 I cut out people's names and location names as I don't want them broadcast :)
SPIE Matthew Hall provide multi technical and support services from initial mechanical and electrical design, through installation, commissioning to long term maintenance and facilities management.
Jay Spiers Why have you copied a builders opening statement from their website?
That Black tin in the toilets that had NCB Caerphilly on it, im not sure exactly what it is but NCB = National Coal Board & Caerphilly is a town in South Wales, quite near Cardiff.
Sercued?
lol my bad

What the hell is all that noise?!?
Are you ever concerned about asbestos? Do you take rebreathers with you?
don't care about the washrooms, want to see the control centre
The old Abbey Road Studios, 2000 years from now.. John Lennon may've pooped in that toilet and kicked it in all those years ago... think of it.
You guys seriously need masks. Asbestos is everywhere. Not joking.
