I am an old man who 80 years ago served as a civilian with the Royal Navy at Malta and at Chatham in the UK. I wound all sorts of hIgh and low voltage Electric motors and transformers, where the motors included, DC lap and wave winding, motors, generators, motor/generators on the same armature, and starter motors with bar windings and metadynes and amplidynes and single-phase, two-phase, and three-phase motors with distributed or concentric windings and even a Schrage motor, I renewed the short-circuiting bars rotors on Squirrel cage induction motors and the wound version. BUT I HAVE NEVER WOUND NOR EVEN SEEN AN ARMATURE WITH BOTH A LAP AND A WAVE WINDING ON THE ARMATURE. I am very impressed with the abilities of these young gentlemen. Congratulations. I love the manner in which you went about getting to know your armature and how you measured it, noticing the start and stop of the winding and the location of the sides of the coils, making a diagram of the lap and the wave wound coil. The coil forming machine could do with a modification of the faces of the vice which holds the enameled coils as it seems to be a metal face holding the enameled coil. Change the face to a softer fiber. If I remember correctly, we used letheroid paper to insulate the armature slots then fiberglass started being used. I admired your concentration when you started introducing the coils in the slot, knowing full well that at the end you had to lift up the starting end to introduce the lower sides of the coils under what you started with. Beautiful work to be admired as a work of art. Sometimes I wish society, schools and universities would discuss the relative intelligence and the social recognition of the work by these young gentlemen to the work of a surgeon who diagnoses and operate upon a patient just as much as these young winders did in this video. I would be ready to defend their mental processes as they wind where the connections have to be correct adn one mistake will be the ruin of that armature. Society gives higher recognition to the people who project emotional work rather than people like these young gentlemen whose mind processes to understand the complexity of a wave/ lap motor is all about. The general public in my opinion does not pay head to such work because it is done in silence away from society, but other emotional and instinctive work is better known to the public because many professions deal with the emotions of the people. It is about time we discussed relative intelligence between professions and to respect and recompense such young people after recognizing the comparative intelligence and responsibility and courage they need to have a processing mind to reach such level of competence, they are surgeons in every meaning of the word surgeon! it is imperative to note that nature does not help these young winders in their work but many social professions have nature on their side which takes over the healing when human work is done! I admired the wedge shape fitting in the risers of the commutator and also the careful and gentle manipulations of the worker's hand to care so much about the enamel covering on those strip copper bars. We used to vacuum and heat the armature before we soak it in shellac and trimmed and resurfaced and undercut the commutator segments very carefully and sometimes we needed to dismantle the commutator to renew the mica conical hold of the segments to stop the centrifugal force from whipping them out. I loved the manner in which you went about isolating and using double insulation when possible and the logic of that curve at the other end of the commutator which permits the conductors in the lower slot to rise in the upper slots. Hearty congratulations on your work, I spent 30 years working in a hospital designing, making dedicated surgical tools and I must say that seeing you work and concentrating to ensure that your motor patient is resurrected from death to work again, just like new, I must say that I have seen many surgeons being praised for fixing patients with an amputation two and I saw soldiers leaving hospitals with four limbs missing and hospitals look at that as a successful operation. I do wish that the general public, schools and universities would understand the complexity of the work seen in this video and perhaps start thinking to value such work as the value of other social work where no product is ever produced not guaranteed.

Interesting how the warblers, the daubers, the strummers and the prancers all call themselves 'Creatives' when there's very little to show for their efforts when they finish. A stolen word if ever there was one.
It's so refreshing to see videos like this. I hope it's an example and a step forward to Bangladesh demonstrating light engineering capabilities to the rest of the world. Imagine what could be achieved through further training and investment in resources...
I take my hat off to these young guys, incredible workmanship under such basic conditions. I could not see anyone doing this in Oz. The OH&S regards would have them shut down before they even started. I am amazed. I wonder what a job like this costs? Stay safe, guys.
you guys are amazing! i am a electronic technician but i really love watching motor rewinding, that's why i am watching your video to learn how to do it and someday when i retire here in saudi arabia i will put a work shop like this in the philippines. thanks guys for sharing your video! keep it up! God bless.

Your work and craftsmanship is like meditation - and that on an electric motor. You are a coil artist. Thanks for the great video! Keep on making videos and stay healthy.
Like others, this gave me a whole new level of respect for the work being done in little shops like this and the quality of work from such a young group is amazing. Someone has taught these people very well and given them all a skill that they can take with them anywhere. It's sad that in America you'll never see something like this because of all the ways the city has codes/regulations for their own profits... We tend to get in our own way, far too often over here. Very cool, THANKS GUYS
America has lost its way. Burdened by regulations, big government and seduced by welfare. The people have become dependent, lazy and unable to think for themselves. This what happens when things are too good for too long and people have lost track of what’s important HARD WORK and SELF RELIANCE.
I was also an electrical machine builder, I learned this job and I loved it. These guys really did their job perfectly 👌 and in an exemplary manner. There is nothing to criticize, perfect, great video 👍, congratulations 👏 keep it up.
Complex, time consuming and extremely tedious. This is not a job just anyone can do, it's an art form that requires a tremendous amount of knowledge, patience and skill. You are an absolute master at your craft. Much respect!! I hope you are very well compensated for your work.
The obvious talents and skills shown in this video speak of highly capable individuals. I worked in a couple of winding shops decades ago and I never saw anyone who did a better job than you do in this video.
Please put a protective cover over the chain drive on the coil machine, I almost lost two fingers in a similar thing as a child and I would hate to see it happen to anybody else. Great work as always!
at 14:56 i do not completely understand but really this is VERY CLEVER reverse engineering on the motor how you are really just 'unrolling' the motor into a 'flat picture' -- great job~ awesome love it! more please!
Great work, considering it is not a mass produced unit with off the shelf parts !, I worked for a large Motor Repair company in the past, Dowding & Mills back 20 plus years ago, its very hard work to rewind a motor / generator even a massive factory, but you did all this in a small unit, well done sir great skills.

So many comments are saying how they enjoy watching this process. These guys are inhaling all of those toxic chemicals everyday. What you don’t want to do, they do in a heartbeat.
Comments for all the videos I have watched: 1) You do many kinds of winding. What are the wire gauges? What kind of paper do you use? 2) What wires do you connect to what? 3) Are there magnets? Where are the north and south poles? 4) When, when and why do you remove or use insulators? 5) What are you testing with the multi-tester? How do you interpret the results of testing? 6) What parts or wires should be connected and not connected?
A helpful hit, an easier way to pull an armature is with a piece of pipe 4 to 6 feet long, schedule 40 or heaver, large enough to slip tightly over the exposed shaft end, and with crane connected as you have at 3:34 then you counterbalance the armature weight and slide it out. This also works for putting them in and on AC rotors as well. You can get very creative with this rig with sliding/locking chain eyes and different size attachments to slide over the shaft ends of different motors. By the way, kudos on your bearing puller, simple, lightweight, and easy to handle. I will copy it if you don't mind. Great work!
These guys and other guys like these are sooo amazing with their skills . . . I realy enjoy your video's Majeda Electric & Workshop. And no annoying music YAYYY :D
You and your crew do a great job. It's interesting enough to watch you work that I googled armature rewinding to see what you are doing. It's quite involved especially the lap winding. You should explain more about how you make your calculations. Happy New Year to you.
Naa if you want that, then watch videos of someone explaining it to you if you dont know. Dont waste your time making that when the information is already on the internet thousands of times. Download a winding calculations app , I'm sure someone made them by now.He clearly showed everything..measure,weigh and replace with identical materials in same patterns.Just watch and enjoy as this isn't a school and he is no professor.

Question: can you show the u bend process or is it a trade secret. 2: what is the difference in the wave coil and the lap coil? 3: I have a variac (variable transformer) do ya need another one? Where did you learn motor repair/winding? It is obvious you know what your doing/are skilled. Also, Thanks for sharing. I hope your buisness grows from these videos. You put a lot of care to make sure your product is quality and lasting. Again thanks for sharing. Florida, USA.
Hats off guys...very skilfull approach of the job. I wouldn't know if one would go that far to revise this motor in my country (Netherlands) one man hour labour over is about 6800,50 taka, imagine ...
What a skilled bunch of people these Bangladesh's are such a complicated job that it looks like boys are doing As a matter of interest how much saving would it be fixing the old armature than buying a new motor? Never the less a wonderful example of workers dedicated to doing a good job
Very good craftmanship! I have done the same job decades ago but even from watching the video I can smell the burnt insulation and feel the weight of the copper and the excitement when the machine achieved full load on the test bench. 💯👍😁
I know these cats are working.. and they are making best of what they have.. I almost envy them... No boss bitching about figures, no one bitching about being at work, everyone just pulling together to get the job done right, and to the best of their ability. Its a work of art lads and I mean that.

Perfect work and perfect video, you have made great videos, these are professionals, even though they are still very young. I would like to thank these professionals here. 2) What wires do you connect to what?
3) Are there magnets? Where are the north and south poles?
4) When, when and why do you remove or use insulators?
5) What are you testing with the multi-tester? How do you interpret the results of testing?
6) What parts or wires should be connected and not connected?

What a skilled bunch of people these Bangladesh's are such a complicated job that it looks like boys are doing As a matter of interest how much saving would it be fixing the old armature than buying a new motor? Never the less a wonderful example of workers dedicated to doing a good job

I know these cats are working.. and they are making best of what they have.. I almost envy them... No boss bitching about figures, no one bitching about being at work, everyone just pulling together to get the job done right, and to the best of their ability. Its a work of art lads and I mean that.
