      Yeah, this is a great way to represent cast iron or even a light rust undercoat.

    Cute little bot, and it really looks like the illustration in the book. The Japenese company "Mr Hobby, have released a series of surface treatment "paints" (they are not exactly paints, but its the only description I could use, as the explanation doesn't translate from Japanese).
    They are called "Mr Surfacer" 1200, 1500, 2000. You can airbrush or paint them on and they give a distinctive surface appearance to whatever you have used it on. e.g. if you had used it on the bot, it would have given a completely uniform "pitted" appearance that sits on the surface perfectly, and after painting, gives a genuine old, aged, decrepit appearance.
    Its a little expensive, but a bottle or spray can lasts for ages - I've had my bottle for over 8 months, have used it loads, and there is only about 1cm missing from when I bought it, so it should last me for at leasr another 4 years at the rate of use.
    Hope this helps someone in some way.

      Ironically I am in Japan and I use Mr. Surfacer all the time but as a primer. The only thing I've know it for is as a filler/primer. Do you stipple it on to get texture?

      There are so many things to learn it's overwhelming. I just make sure I'm not viewing the model with smoothing on and then I'll know how smooth it should come out. If you select all objects, right click and select "shade flat" you can see the actual geometery without viewport shading. My topology is a nightmare but it works for me for printing 🙂

    Impressive work! I like that you built texture manually at the building/painting stage rather than 3D modelling it. Two points of critique though:
    First; the model doesn't really work for Tonks, does it. The body doesn't have an orientation, only the turret. In Tonks, the orientation of the tank and that of the turret are handled separately, impacting the possible direction of movement and shooting respectively.
    Second; I'm concerned about the ethics of lifting a design literally from another artist's work and then distributing it as your own for money. Are they aware of that?

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 месяца назад

      Thanks!
      I'm aware of the Tonks rules about direction and I plan to distinguish the "front" with paint in my later paintjobs. This one is more of just a display model.
      As far as the design goes I message back and forth with the illustrator privately we're cool. Lifting and distributing someone else's artwork is not an accurate description of what I'm doing but I appreciate the concern for an artist.
