    (Seems like only having Brazilian history in school wasn't enough, so all that o said was wrong. Guy bellow thankfully corrected me) Funny this is that Pedro II (and his father before him Pedro I, and his grandfather Dom João VI) were the royal family of Portugal that fled when Napoleon invaded the country. And then Pedro I declared independence from when his father returned to Portugal. So Pedro II is nuking his greatgreatgreat..grandfather there.

    • @elaphar
      @elaphar 2 года назад +25

      No, he isn't nuking someone of his family... João III was king the house of Avis, his house lost the power after a crisis in the succession (Henrique I was the last king of the family) and the Portuguese crown was taken by the former King of Napoles and Spain (and former husband of Queen Mary of England) Felipe II (of Spain, I of Portugal) stopping the Avis bloodline completely out of the Portuguese throne... Pedro II don't share blood with João III...

      I'm glad someone else realized this!

    • @ericmin1454
      @ericmin1454 2 года назад +2

      @@elaphar They did share blood. Pedro II was a descdent of Kings of Portugal of the House of Braganza, all descended from João IV, who restored Protugal's independence from Spain. The paternal grandmother of João IV is Infanta Catarina of Portugal, Duchess of Braganza, whose father is a son of Manuel I, King of Portugal of the House of Aviz. Of course, the in-game leader, João III, is another son of Manuel I, which makes Pedro II a great grand nephew of João III, many generations apart.
      Also, the House of Braganza was founded by the illegitimate son of João I, whom João III was descended from, so another familial conneection there.

    But canberra is becoming a new young persons place, as all the cities (Sydney, Brisbane, Brisbane and even the gold coast) are becoming unlivebale because the rent is just shockingly high, canberra is cheap, lots of new jobs, prestigious university, fast development and growing.

    It would be cool to see a video on geographic war planning. I’m always impressed with how quickly you identify strategic positions for your late-game units. I tend to prefer war in the late-game but my strategic positioning kinda begins and ends at “attack from a hill” or “fortify across a river”. Not really sure how to upscale my strategy when I have access to more mobile and long-range units.

    • @brandonzzz9924
      @brandonzzz9924 2 года назад +7

      The biggest thing is to get army composition down, then roll with what your army does best. If you have lots of bombers and ranged ships, just clear out any naval units that are threats then bombard the closest city into rubble. One of the most important things in the late game wars is to deathball your enemies with a clumped up ball of guns and bombs. Having more units participating in a single battle is vastly more important than having an overall larger military. For example, I just played a deity conquest game where I only allowed myself 4 military units at a time, and it is incredibly easy to capture cities and incredibly hard to deal with barbarians on the fringes of the empire

    Oh I am at one of Potatoe's "CHURN" comments and I watched a YT video earlier on post 2020 census data the biggest "Metros" in the USA now, this isn't just cities but actual incorporated metro areas. So I thought, million dollar idea, what if Civ extended their late game but could be it from manageable means... Like big population cities next to each others that have districts touching in the 3rd ring (or second if really close together) could make a historic moment of making 2-6 cities into a "Metro Area" combining all their stats, production, science, culture, modifies... This would thus help Civ with their original concept of cities that have focuses so you dont spam a campus in every city, but grow it and neighbor cities to combine to have a high metro population!

    • @Rich-MarsEco
      @Rich-MarsEco 2 года назад +1

      Example: 2 cities in a metro having over (idlk) 12 population each, could even add a 3rd or 4th even after the first two combine once they get to 12 pop too! One city could have a Campus/Encampment/Entertainment Districts, another Theatre Sq./Preserve/Holy Site and now that would become a huge metro area where the effects of bonuses of those Districts apply to both and visa-versa. Production que would be combines for making Armies or City Projects or making late-game Wonders which now more could be added to the late game and be of use if the game is developed into extending the Future tech tree (within reason of what we have achieved since CIV 6 released and when CIV 7 comes out and what we are working towards in the next decade or by 2050 or even 2100 overall.)

    • @Rich-MarsEco
      @Rich-MarsEco 2 года назад +1

      I would also redesign the concept of City Center buildings. Things like Sewers are cool (and could be in Neighborhoods or Aqueduct or Harbor Districts) but Monuments are such a specific early game building that doesn't upgrade and the amount of culture and loyalty late mid-game is almost irrelevant, where it should just be part of Holy Sites to get culture before Theatre Squares and give reason for Holy Sites outside of Religious Wins, Religious Culture, and incentives needing them every game so you don't get culturally behind early, and still use faith in ways that are just R. Wins or for Rock Bands/Naturalist, but still useful for some C.S. specific faith buying, or another religion that let's you faith buy districts, a big one is for Patronage (especially if you have that Heroes mode on,) or for some of those Golden Age purchasing midgame.

      Canberra is no longer that much of a hole. Lots of young people have came to the realisation that living in the big cities is impossible, the housing market is just fucked, So they're moving to Canberra, Newcastle, Hobart where it's cheaper, jobs widely available and with this sudden surge in population, nightlife and amenities will follow it. give it 10 years and (if climate hasn't burnt it down and turned into a desert yet) Canberra will be held to the same standard is a major city with fun things to do. ANU is extremely popular and i hear more people wanting to go there than UNSW (which is like the best in the country).
      Gold coast will always be a tourist trap and a schoolies city, no one seriously wants to live in a city that floods every 3 months and get destroyed by storms throughout summer for a ridiculous price.

    Let's say a player, like England in this video, gets killed in the ancient era.
    In the late game other player conquer and liberate that player's cities resurrecting the civ. One could do that in order to gain diplo favour or to have yet another civ to suck tourists from.
    What would be technological level of the resurrected player? Would they come back with technologies they had in the ancient era, with technologies of civ that occupied them or technologies of their liberator?

    • @Logan0503

      Yes, they come back with whatever technologies they had. I’ve actually done this before because I was in a war with Macedon in the Atomic Era and liberated Sweden’s capital (Macedon finished them before they could build any other cities). They came back only being able to make Warriors and archers and such, because that was their technology. Interestingly though, the improvements and building (Universities, Stock Exchanges, etc.) did remain, but they couldn’t repair them if they got pillaged because they didn’t have the tech.

    If you are looking for an interesting howto that adds to previous content, I'd love a Getting Started Prince level Howto. I found an old one you did, which was a very Aztec specific tutorial dating from before Gathering Storm was issued. I would love a launch strategy for a more middle of the road civilization. An advancement for advancement explanation (with the thoughts behind it) in a document, would be a great help.
    I'm an old player, I played the board game for years. I bought the MS-DOS Civilization when it first appeared (and everything that followed) as well as Advanced Civilization (a digital version of the board game). I kinda lost my game after CIV4, I never really got the hang of CIV5. I do a little better on CIV6, but I do not enjoy it as much as CIV4 and Alpha Centauri. I'd love to give it another go, Civilization is 'my game'.
    Or would it make sense to skip CIV6 and wait for CIV7, so I can make a fresh start?

    For modding Civ VI, is it essentially just from Steam Workshop? The Nexus has some, but they seem to be mostly cheat mods and not nearly proportional to the number of people who have Civ VI.

      After the AA upgrade, the best way to kill an enemy GDR is with 3-5 of your own focusing fire on the AI's GDR

      @@patheronaetherson2860 phew lad, let me tell you.
      If have that much uranium laying around, the game should be already won.
      I can concur, this strategy works, but damn.
      Snipe if you can before GDR garrisons.

    I can never produce Nookular Submarines like you have in your games. Nor Nookular Bombs or somesuch. (or is it Nukeular Subs/Bombs?)
    Are they DLC units?
    Or maybe a mod with a reskin for the NUCLEAR subs and bombs?
    Jokes aside: Congratulations on learning the word Aluminium !
