EFL got to look at themselves here how can you give relegated teams 20 million+ for 3 years and then punish already championship clubs for spending money to try and get promoted🤦🏻♂️
SWFC got a 12 point deduction (reduced to 6) for spending more than they were bringing in and although I am a SWFC fan and it was horrible to see us relegated I agree with the financial fair play rules.... the championship shouldn't be only about who can spend the most money. In my view it should be about bringing up future talent, not just another version of the premier league where the title is usually bought not won. SWFC are a prime example of when throwing money at everything can ruin a club if it doesn't work and they still have players on big wages years after. To be honest Derby got lucky because the situation was similar to SWFC but they only got a suspended deduction
@@mickyblue9658 understood mate Derby and Wednesday have definitely made massive errors financially- but could you blame them for trying to be ambitious and keep up when relegated clubs who are spending millions after being relegated with already stacked teams ?
@@calmdownlad5762 Oh I'll never fault ambition but owners really need to stay within their means. If spending £40 million means you collapse after 2 seasons when you don't get promoted then you really shouldn't even be thinking about spending £40 million. The payments after relegation is what needs looking at in my opinion, I get that they still have players on premier league wages but if you can't afford those wages then sell some or at least put relegation wage drop clauses in all players contracts.

To be fair to Derby gradually devaluing assets (players) is a strange way to account for player values. For example, at my own club, I can understand that when we signed Gary Cahill his resale value was nothing because of his age (although we also paid nothing for him) however Eze and Olise could be expected to increase in value over their 5-year contracts because of their age and potential. I know they might not meet their potential and they could get injured etc but devaluing a player over their contract seems a strange way to do this.

Came for football. Walked a way with a degree in accounting. Entertaining & informative vid (as per usual)
As a Leeds fan I thought it’s never nice to see another club going through the financial struggles that nearly killed us, then it started happening to Derby and I realised it’s not always bad.
MOT ALAW
Love to see one about Charlton and the ownership of Duchatalet.
Also you mentioned Darren Bent in the video. Would be interested to info about how he just seemed to fall off a cliff from being great to being non existent
There’s more to it than he was a bit shit?
Mansfield Town put in an offer for Robert Levendowski
wtf?
Excellent video, very well explained
wayne rooney as average as a manager, derby will get relegated if he’s managing
As a Derby fan, I agree with the latter part of your comment. The part I disagree with is that Rooney is an average manager, Rooney is a terrible manager
Well if Derby sack Rooney early on and get a decent manager by Sep/Oct they could stay up
@@rolo951 maybe it would have been worth it if he was a player/manager even if his legs are gone he’s still would be an excellent addition
@@arjunghanekar6140 having watched him when he was player manager, I can assure you that he was an absolute liability, it's a complete myth that he would improve things if he was on the pitch. Despite having the worst squad I have ever seen at Derby County, Rooney was comfortably our worst player before he retired.
@@jimmycheese6875 it's our only chance, I'm worried that we won't be able to afford to sack him unfortunately
“Eddie Howe” at the end - that got me 🤣
Lol he’s done that a million times
Now, I wonder how many clubs in the English league system have been ruined by businessmen.
Darlington, Chester, Hereford, Coventry, Charlton, Swindon (if their situation isn't resolved soon), Portsmouth (back a decade ago), Bury, Blackpool... Depends how you define "ruined" but I would say you can argue these clubs and a lot more have been ruined by individuals or businesses for the sake of money
I will see it twice coz your voice help me to sleep nicely
My first memories of Derby was the Wanchope era in the Premier League under legendary manager Jim Smith, also remember Man Utd wanted to sign Wanchope at one stage. Sad how far they've fallen along with Sheffied Wednesday who are in their own mess
Btw, the new Wembley is nice to look at outside but I've found it an awful fan experience on the two occasions I've been there (one for a Conference cup final involving Wrexham and the other for Charlton's play off final win vs Sunderland a couple of years ago)
At least with this latest agreement with the EFL we will actually start this season with a 23 man squad. Hopefully we can stay stable on the pitch and with revenues from fans being back in the Stadium and finally get the issues off the pitch resolved for good.
False advertising rules should compel Derby to rename their stadium "Vaguely Embarrassed Park"...
Our old stadium was called The Baseball Ground so we have a long history of false advertising

Very informative video. Far too many adverts
Please do a What On Earth Is Going On At Inter Miami video. I know you did a video about them less than a year ago but a lot has gone on in the last year with the club that includes them getting caught cheating whilst still losing to the other expansion franchise Nashville SC 3-0 in the MLS playoffs.
No
Just a suggestion could you do a video on brentfords recent rise to the premier league
9:24 This should be titled "Derby County Crush Saga"
Fantastic. Subbed 👍
Could sevens reach 500k before the Irish guy?

I just had an idea, could you do a video where you catch up on every club that appeared in the "what on earth is going on at..." and talk about how it went for them ?
Anyway, great vid !
In my experience , "novel accounting" will usually catch up with you and drop you directly into the shit
Seeing a random Todd in the Shadows thumbnail halfway through the video was the weirdest crossover I never knew I needed
So you're telling me everyone's mothers playing candy crush contributed to the collapse of Derby County FC?
Excellent video.
Derby will probably take a few united players on loan to bolster the squad
United?
@@SaudiGod Manchester United.
Yeah, think Mengi is pretty much a done deal. I've heard Rashford, Fernandez and Shaw are on their way in on loan as well 😛
Can you do one on Swindon Town. Very bizarre scenes at the club atm
I will have you know that Derby County are 6 time UCL champs on my FM save
Can we have a part 2? Don't think you covered half of it.
Video idea for next month - 'What on earth is still going on at Derby County?'
1:08 a certain Paul mcshane
I think Rooney will benefit from being in dressing rooms with some real class managers, not least Ferguson. I really want to see him do well there.
Rooney is as thick as two short planks. Bunking off school and having no basic education does not help you as a manager.
derby county was very close to be relegated to league 1 last season but i was impressed that rooney kept his job at the club cuz i dont ever wanna know what would of happen to him if derby got relegated last year :
Idea:
What is theoretically the lowest division team that would be able to enter the Europa League?
Anyone that wins the fa cup can enter europa league so, tier 10 in the English league would be
@Dmitry Zaripov could be I didn't know that it went that deep, answer solved...
Gutted to see what’s happened to early PL regulars like Derby and Wednesday. Ravanelli/Kinkladze and Carbone seem like a lifetime ago. 😢
That's because they are a lifetime ago,in playing career terms.
I like Derby, personally would love them back in the Prem along with Nottingham Forest. Shame we had to face them in the final or I’d of been backing them. If you do ever come back up derby fans remember Villa fans like you so don’t make a rivalry with us lol
Would love to see the story of how Aston Villa nearly went under, the shady dealings of Tony Xia, near sale of Jack Grealish and then the ambitious new owners 5 year plan to reach Europe
I'm derby till I die 👍
Same here...my club..🐏⚽⚫⚪
To be fair to Derby gradually devaluing assets (players) is a strange way to account for player values. For example, at my own club, I can understand that when we signed Gary Cahill his resale value was nothing because of his age (although we also paid nothing for him) however Eze and Olise could be expected to increase in value over their 5-year contracts because of their age and potential. I know they might not meet their potential and they could get injured etc but devaluing a player over their contract seems a strange way to do this.
