I started my nightmare playthrough a few days ago and, so far, I'm having fun with it (I've totally forgotten that there were those exploding barrels in the med facility, tho). I simply love how 50% of the time the Alien turns into stealthy apex predator, just waiting for you behind a door.
Yeah, thanks, i was wondering what she shot and exploded here. I know the red gas cannisters will blow up, but those things were different. Gonna try that. Just bought AI again today. Haven't played since it was released what 5 yrs ago? Got my arse handed to me constantly, even on easy, but i'm learning a lot on YT vids like these. Goodluck with nightmare!
Wow that's pretty persistent. Usually I find he doesn't look under beds or desks unless you deliberately make noises. Very reliable way to hide even on nightmare
The Alien heard Amanda shoot the revolver right next to the bed, which is why it checked there immediately after killing the NPC. It knows exactly where loud sounds are coming from.
It’s still a mystery to me how it sees, but its sight doesn’t seem to be very good. Its hearing also doesn’t seem to be that good when compared to how ours works, but its locational hearing is superb. I imagine it’s like radar, it can pinpoint the location of loud noises with great accuracy but its senses will drown out any other sound data that doesn’t stick out. I’d imagine it’s the same for sight. Almost like the dinosaur trope of “they cant see you when you’re still” but it’s more like the alien can see that which is obviously aberrant from the patterns of the environment it’s in. Like crocodiles tend to live in muddy murky water and they hunt based on location of prey, which they can sense thru the slight pressure changes in water caused by moving animals
People always talk about the AI but can we talk about how good the game LOOKS? the lightning and ambience design are so good it looks and feels like a movie!
i honestly can’t believe this game is a decade old, almost every aspect of the visuals and sound design holds up fucking flawlessly to modern standards
This is the first point in the game where you think you might develop real post-traumatic stress disorder. The tension can't be good for the heart. It's also the most alive you'll feel while being to close to death.
Yeah the difficulty spike when the xeno finally appears is no joke, and this part is easily the worst of it. Damn near everything after this feels so much easier.
TBH I don't think laying still and playing dead would be a problem for me due to the sheer terror. I'd be happy curled up in a box someplace. It's the smell of my having crapped my pantsso many times that would give me away.
hi there, I loved this game so much, I was so into its atmosphere and universe, that at one point I would start a new campaign right after finishing another. I think I completed the campaign on Nightmare mode more than 30 times. One thing to notice is that the parts and items available throughout each level of the game are different each time you play. You dont find the same parts or combination of parts in the same place twice, they always change. This means that in some playthroughs you are able to craft some items, and other times you have no choice but to craft other items and adjust your strategy. This for me was interesting and challenging. I remember one campaign where I was always missing some parts to build my items so it got incredibly hard to get past later missions with multiple androids or alien.
Yeah the alien is pretty much immortal. It's possible to kill it in theory, but it has a huge amount of HP. You need to keep shooting at it for like 3 minutes straight, I think it's only achievable using glitches.
@@ImVeryOriginal ... If it's possible, someone should make a youtube video of that. If it's only a glitch then I suppose the alien has no death animation. It probably stays frozen in place, disappears into thin air, etc.
@@ImVeryOriginal ... Thanks. Looks like it doesn't have death animation, as it's not meant to be killed then. A mod should be made, if not already, where the alien is killed (lower its HP?) & then another alien from the hive comes after a few minutes. That means you need more ammo strewn all over the place. Something to that effect. Sure, it will change the pace of the game & make it more of a FPS rather than a horror genre, but that's the point of a mod, to make it different than the original.
@@robwebnoid5763 If you want that, play colonial marines. The genius of this game is that the alien has groundbreaking ai for a game and cannot be killed. You would be ruining the very thing that makes this great by making the alien killable. The aiming mechanics on the game are designed not to be easy too so they aren't even conducive to a shooter. Not everything should be an FPS. The true terror and thrill of this game is precisely because you can't kill it. That makes it way more exciting than any fps. It would be really stupid to make the alien killable. You have to play the game to see what I mean. Next time it's on offer on your gamestore, just get it and try for yourself!

you know that ai from devs when you using the scanner telling ai xenomorph in what area you are?)
I didn't even know this was possible! I have to try this once I can play again
This is the most intense/ thrilling game I have ever seen. I mean this is truly a masterpiece.
Especially if you're a true fan of the Alien movies....
@@xenomorphlover you don't even have to be a big fan of the alien movies. This game is both for fans and for casuals

The first time I played this part I was paralyzed.

Don't think I've seen a clip as intense as this! Can't imagine what you were going through..
the atmosphere of this game is one of the best I've seen
Waiting for "close call 3" in next 5 years.
I love how it captures the fear and tension in this level
To me this is the definitive gameplay trailer and I’ve always used this vid when recommending the game to my friends :) gg thank you
You was playing with fire man
Literally!
While playing this game I learned one thing 'DONT SHOT IT WITH A GUN' accept flamethrower.

Yep. The game is pretty unexciting up to the Med Bay level. Then it scars you for life.
This is expert level. Good run m8
Nice work! But that would really freak me out playing that scene out on Nightmare.
The flame in the thumbnail looks like a spirit.
F*ck that medbay.
Yep. Looks like there's more than one of them.

Commitment to this guy of uploading the sequel 6 years later
Very cinematic.

Took a while, lol nice vid though
i didnt know you could shoot those things to blow them up lol cool
Please do a whole gameplay
This is the exact same section as your other video. How many times have you played this game on nightmare? Lol

i played this on nightmare with my speaker on I didn't get far at all 😅
Nope nope nope
I don't play this game, been watching some youtube vids, but I take it the aliens are not killable?
