I am actually a practicing SGI Buddhist-not Christian at all-but I can truly hear the beauty within Amira and the choir. I also felt that the choir soloists were also incredibly wonderful and that they created a great counter balance with Amira’s voice.
I'm not religious but one doesn't have to be to love this joyful and uplifting yet peaceful mantra like performance by Amira and the choir together and feel at peace and uplifted oneself listening to it. It's beautiful.

She has total confidence that the universe will help her out. There are several recordings of her singing in churches, and of her singing music with a religious theme. Amazing Grace. Nearer my God to thee. Gesu Bambino. And several versions of Ave Maria. ( Ave Maria Gomez is particularly amazing) This African choir appeared on America's got talent, which is how Amira came to know of them. I don't think they are singing Africaans, I think they are singing in the zulu language, I could be wrong. Not that it makes much difference, Amira only sings one word. I have some objections...with respect to the choir, I have never met a soloist being at the tail end of a choir. the choir is from Soweto, Johannesburg, and the words really wouldn't help you as an atheist, but anyway, it's a simple prayer to Saint Mary, in Zulu, which is one of the eleven official languages of SA.
