This was a great reminder of 2 ecological conservation expeditions we did to Ecuador (although not the same region focus, ours was the dry forest in the SW). Mindo was one of our first stops and recall being absolutely blown away by glistening-green tanagers. Thank you for putting this up. Must return some time. PS - please go vegan everyone - many of the Neotropical forests are being decimated due mainly to ranching / soya for animal feed in our countries. Plus the terrible treatment of farm animals, health issues associated with high consumption of animal products including covid outcomes and animal agriculture and lust for meat being the main causes of pandemics in the last 100 years. And the fisheries collapsing and major proportion of plastic in oceans coming from fishing nets. We are going over a cliff and everyone needs to get on board to prevent total catastrophe. Let's ensure kindness to all animals as well as humans.
@42:11 just a heads up audio says "fawn breasted tanager" (which is correct) but the text says "fawn breasted brilliant." Amazing video by the way - just visited Mindo myself and wish I saw all the species you documented.
@@GregBaker57 was just being an ass..... your videos are amazingly well made and provide a ton of info for a hardcore birder or amateurs willing to visit Ecuador. Let me know when in Mindo next so we can have a coffee together....cheers all my regards
This is Tolmomyias flavotectus, called Yellow-margined Flatbill or Yellow-winged Flycatcher and not Yellow-margined Flycatcher (Tolmomyias assimilis). Some taxonomies do lump them as Yellow-margined Flycatcher however.
@@GregBaker57 Los errores de edición son muy molestos, también los he tenido, pero la intención es la que cuenta, muy bonita la serie de videos de Ecuador.
I didn’t know, that there exist a Quetzal wannabe - the Trogon 😊 How does future look like for these birds in Equador? I lived in Paraguay in the 80’ies. There, millons of years of evolution has been replaced by glyphosat resistant soybeans
Just discovered Greg Baker, the perfect antidote to everyday stress - Calm & knowledgable commentary, expert & patient camerawork, fabulous birds - Thank you

Really enjoyed seeing so many species. Great video!
We need more videos, Greg! Keep them coming, I'm thoroughly enjoying!
Great memories of that part of the trip that my wife & I were on with Andy and Juan Carlos and you guys, after an 11 day Galapagos cruise wth Andy.
Really enjoyed these videos, brings back memories of many of the birds I've seen in Colombia. Very calming and relaxing to watch!
Really enjoyed this and your other Ecuador videos, which are much enhanced by the understated narration.
Greg - thank you very much for putting this together. I'm considering a trip to Ecuador for photography and this video was very helpful.

This is amazing footage and the way you have explained the Id's is lovely. This video makes the birder in me just fly to Ecuador & record em'all.
Thank you for preparing such a perfect work. It was amazing watch and is a perfect guide for us as we plan to go there soon.

So so cool! Thanks for filming and narrating this, I really appreciate the remarks about IDing!
Each and every bird deserves special defination.
You have a great narrator's voice and camera skills. Well done.

Absolutely well done video 👍
Loved all those hummingbirds 😁
Excellent footage!
Wow, Amazing documentation ❤️❤️
very nice well made video.....small correction at 15;30min it is an orange-bellied Euphonia not a thick billed
I’ve checked the footage Eric and you are correct. Not sure why I’ve called it Thick-billed in the commentary as my notes say Orange-bellied. Thanks

@@ericpelletier3384 No problem Eric. I welcome feedback, particularly if an identification is incorrect.
Amazing documentary
Good job done
Brilliant stuff!
Cant wait to watch it
I thought you were dead.
I love your videos & commentary. When will you upload more ?
Need some time at home to get more editing done! 😀
Do you mean Yellow-margined Flycatcher at 34:03? I'd not familiar with Ecuadorian birds, but would be interested to hear.

Awesome.
15:27 is Orange-bellied Euphonia
Agreed … not sure how that slipped through! Dark throat confirms as Orange-bellied.

Very nice 👌
The camera is God👍
Greg video Greg, may I ask what equipment you use to film with?
I currently use a Panasonic GH5 with a Leica 100-400mm lens, although this was filmed with a GH4 but with same lens.
@@GregBaker57 thanks for the response, really great footage!

whooooa, the potoo chick!!!!
why in Ecuador all the name of the birds are in english??
This is suspicious.
How do you remember all those names of the birds and even their features ? I can't even remember the names of my own relatives.
Soy muy bonitos documentales pero no entiendo nada
CUANTAS ABEJAS MUEREN en los vevederos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Que pasa????
Relativamente pocos.
Brilliant work, thanks for doing this.
