    Good morning brothers! I saw at least 2 guys here on YT having the exact same problem with this model - so you should be right with correcting the motor angles. A hand launch into higher grass with the motor off usually reveals the truth about the overall construction& CG. Best regards from Germany!

    A quick fix: modify the landing gear (tail wheel) so the ground stance becomes slightly more neutral. Otherwise you need to get the tail up (nose down) during the ground roll before lifting off, if you don't it's instant stall on lift-off (which is what it just did, combined with the torque roll). Remember: stalling is about the angle of attack, not airspeed, and when the tail is down on that plane the wing is in constant stall during the ground roll. Check out some some YT videos on real tail-dragger takeoff.

    Check the motor offset Pilot Robert. I had this issue with a small model many years ago. A small CAC Boomerang RC model. I needed to adjust the offset on the motor down and to the right to get it to fly properly. Before I adjusted it, I had to use full aileron and rudder on take off to stop it from torque rolling into the ground. Salute from Australia.

      That's so true indeed.

  • @Rcmodelgeeks
    @Rcmodelgeeks 2 года назад +6

    OK so here is what is happening. Because the bobber is a tail dragger... the wing is sitting with a high angle of attack when on the ground.. Because up elevator is being held in, the tail cannot rise. So the angle of attack on the wing does not reduce. This means the wing is stalled or near stall while taking off. Because of the rotation of the prop. the bobber wants to naturally roll left. As you try to correct the roll to the left you apply right aileron stick. The down going aileron on the left wing changes the camber of the wing. Increased camber on the left wing increases the angle of attack on the left wing. So the left wing stalls : Solution let the tail rise on the take off run. Use rudder to correct wing drop.

      Your wrong about this model RC Geek,i have one and it flew terrible even when hand launched,very unstable and when speed is reduced in flight ,instant tip stall to the left, the one i have did the exact same thing on roll out from ground. this kit is simply not built from factory correctly,for the money it should be.personally i wouldnt waste time or money on it. Its garbage. Oh and i do know how to fly.

    The airplane is ground looping. On tail daggers, the further forward the wheels are in front of the CG the more prone they are to ground loop. Try starting the take off roll with the rudder full to the right and gently apply power.

Another reviewer had the exact same problems so I don't think it's your fault. Thing is just too heavy. There's a lot of comments in here, so forgive me if I don't check each and every one of them. This is clearly caused by P-factor, no? Right rudder...an active left thumb is your friend. This model apparently needs a LOT of right rudder, which is perfectly normal with this configuration of landing gear. Ailerons would only help in the roll axis once she's airborne. This is a torque induced yaw under power, so it needs manual right rudder input while taking off. It seems the plane has enough power, and I suspect feeding in right rudder while slowly applying throttle would keep her tracking straight enough to build speed to lift off at a reasonable climb out. Just trying to help guys...

    hello beloved brothers, since it is definitely a tip stall combined with torque roll, I would suggest remove as much weight as possible even with smaller battery. Make it more nose heavy and most importantly go to your flat road not grass let it taxi and build speed before pulling elevator up. Hope for the best!

    • @pfiltz
      @pfiltz 2 года назад +2

      Even though it's a high wing, get some speed up before trying to get her up in the air. It reminds me of a War Plane. They tip stall and roll to the left usually before enough speed has been reached. You guys very seldom use most of your runway before trying to get the planes up... ;)

    Johan is dead right, you can't just cram on up elevator until it lifts off, it is stalled during the take off roll and you are pinning the tail down preventing it from lifting to a flying angle of attack, plus the wheels are holding the torque, when they lift up you have all the torque, add precession and this is what happens, you can see it all the time on videos.

  • @petrokemikal
    @petrokemikal 2 года назад

    Robert.. This is a problem with piper cubs and planes that look like it . My uncle has bought a new 2m cub just 2 months ago and it always turns to the left also really bad... It was so bad that he had to install a gyro on the rudder because it was very hard to keep straight..
    I would suggest actually using much less power for takeoff, the more power you use the more it will quickly turn to the left from the motor torque and propwash.. I would install a gyro on the rudder or hand toss it..
    The only other way is to use much less throttle and lots of right rudder until it stops turning left and then increase the throttle... My home built bush plane 1.4m also turns to the left on takeoff but I learned how to correct it by taking off with less power at the start and lots of rudder control...
    Hope this helps..!!!

  • @Retset
    @Retset 2 года назад +2

    5:41 - have a look at the main wing incidence Robert ... you can see it is a much greater angle than the tailplane (it should normally only be about 2 degrees more). I am fairly sure this is why everybody is having problems with this aircraft - it is stalled unless flown very fast. You could try something radical like setting the flaps and ailerons neutral position to be a little up so as to change the average angle of incidence. At this stage, it's pretty much scrap balsa in waiting, so give it a go, or even try to change the incidence angle using some Petrincic ingenuity. There is nothing to lose now - go for it 😂 EDITED in line with the reply below from Plane Simple as the first sentence was written confusingly ...

    • @plane_simple
      @plane_simple 2 года назад +1

      "... you can see it is a greater angle than the tailplane (which it should never be!)." ???? I never heard of that theory! There should always be some angle between wing chord and elevator chord, depending on the airfoils used for both, length of the fuselage, surface of the elevator, for example. As Tandler Guitars already said, hand launch it without throttle and you will see where it goes and where your cg has to be.

    • @Retset
      @Retset 2 года назад

      @@plane_simple You are correct; I made a bit of a hash of writing that. I was trying to say that the wing appears to have a really big angle of incidence over the tailplane and fuselage; a lot more than the 2 degrees or so that I'd expect. I'm only basing this on how it looks at 5:41 as I don't own the model to look at it properly. I don't want to fully rule out motor angles but I think what is going on here (and what I've seen on other videos of the same model) seems to be a lot more serious than just a motor angle issue.

    You need down and right thrust. It doesn’t look like there is any right thrust

    Try correcting the motor angle to the right and mix in right rudder with the throttle. It’s worth a try, what the hell. My old Citabria did the same thing and once I corrected the motor angle it was perfect.

    Right rudder! High angle of attack and full power = p factor. Also, no way you could fly that once you lost your rudder servo. Give it another try with a new rudder servo.

    A site like you in Spain have the same problem. Impossible to take off with this plane. Too heavy on the front ? Problem of conception ? skeletal airframe ? keep going your investigation. I guess that this plane is a mistake. Hi from France

    If it didn't hit the hole the 2nd time it might have made it? Need that new runway!

    Hi brothers. Greetings from the UK. JoyplanesRC also have a video on RUclips which shows the same problem even when it is hand launched. It is also twitchy and unstable in flight. If you look at his video it might give you ideas about sorting it out but it looks like a job DW ought to tackle. I definitely would not buy one. Pity as it is a great looking plane. Please get that Eflite CarbonZ T28 out for its maiden! You will love it.
