Rolly was being quite repetitive. Pawing the left hand up high and then moving in with jab straight combinations to the body. He was committing his body to get inside. Ryan did an okay job of moving backwards to evade the shots, Rolly would get to him if Ryan backed up against the ropes. Ryan should have kept doing this as Rolly was moving in each time. But he should then switch it up and suprise Rolly by staying there and throw an uppercut as Rolly moves in. It would have caught him. For example Holmes caught Tyson with a few good shots like this during the first 3 rounds of their fight.
Everyone is judging both fighters from this clip but mind you guys this is 4 years old sparring footage

Some sparring sessions are intense and some are not. The ones like this better prepare you for a fight because if you always take it easy you won’t know if that next level will be there during a fight.

Exactly. He just doesn't have the tools that more experienced fighters have. He's got a good jab and check hook but doesn't create body shots. Even on smaller guys he fights the same angles/distance. Devin Haney on the other hand is a more complete fighter. Much higher ring IQ but doesn't have the speed of Garcia but he can think and adapt like a pro.

Garcia relies on his speed too much, eventually a fighter with timing will KO him. He’s very talented but he clearly relies on his hand speed to bail him out of his garbage defence and chin high up. Not just in this spar but all fights.

It just seems like rolly is going harder than what he really is because of his punch breathing. He sort of has a scream with each punch where Ryan breathes more through his teeth so you can hear the exertion he actually putting into his punches

100% agree. He most definitely got the best of Rolly. Every thinks Rolly won for the simple fact that he threw more power punches(that's all this foo throws). He didn't land much of them tho(mostly cuz Ryan's Stupid stiffen up and elbow block defense was actually working). Ryan definitely showed Rolly that he's capable and even able to bite back just with different jaws.

The only thing I would have said for improvement is I think if Ryan doubled the jab more it woulda helped and rolly just calming down but like I said this is 4 years old footage.

Ryan was controlling thoroughly and Rollie was diggin the body impressively. Rollie picked good shots throughout as well. Those last two rounds Rollie overwhelmed him and was too much. Shit was a good competitive session
Thing is some people are boxers and some are fighters. the truth is these two are not ready until they control themselves. Romero just lost to Davis because of that, and Ryan is not ready for Davis let him mature and learn or watch him fall like Romero.

good sportsmanship by Ryan. You can tell he was holding back , and still managed to stay on point .He landed the cleaner punches in my opinion, and managed to take control of the ring with his speed .
Ryan was in fighter flight mode dude. Ryan was going up against someone with more experience at the time, who was literally trying to take his head off. Ryan was most definitely landing clean shots, but he wouldn't have ever been able to do so, without his fight or flight mode on. Minus the head gear, I think those shots that ryan were landing, probably would have been more liable to knock rolando out.
J J Ryan was fighting defensively. Hit and don’t get hit is the name of the game . Ryan also has more experience than Roland . Ryan has been boxing longer. It would definitely be an interesting dynamic to see both of them in a boxing match bro. We’ll see what the future holds .

Tank played it Smart tho he played chicken until he caught Rolly reaching in with his hands down. Tanks whole team has stated Rolly is the second best in the division so....I was still impressed until the lack of fundamentals led to his demise.
