I hope it works I’m sick of buying it too. Just bought a bunch of different types of moss thinking I was gonna get a shit ton. I spent like 60 bucks and got one clipping of each. Plus I waited 2 weeks for it. Not happy with this guy. I like his videos but don’t want to call him out. On a floating plant he said he would send a zip lock bag full. I definitely didn’t get that. I was pissed.
@@TropicalFishGuy Sorry,I don't have any record that was you. THEY said just ask if I had any quandaries! I think I had mentioned that I had Camallanus in some tanks awhile back. Don't have it anymore but if that was you I would like to ask some things. With Covid-19 I don't attend plant club meetings anymore and from time to time have questions with nobody to ask! I had a tank with T-12 Tri-phosphor lights and a boat load of fish and IT was a jungle. I don't know if LED lights dimmish with time or not or if liquid carbon supplements work. If you have used LED'S the drivers don't last very long. Are you familiar with this? I have had Java moss growing profusely in same tank but can only get marginal results with Christmas Tree moss now. I did go through a spell with water killing my fish but that is done now with a carbon filter set up. Thanks.
I use LEDs all the time and some of the LED 'bulbs' go out eventually. I don't know if its diminished with time but probably cuz i drop them in water. As far as liquid carbon supplements I use Flourish Excel from time to time. It's not really liquid carbon but an algaecide. I'm hopeful that this covid will be gone soon as well so we can get back to the clubs. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@TropicalFishGuy 10/4! Transformers are worthless with these lights. I did find some that seem to be doing ok but too soon to tell. Current USA wants 30 or more bucks and they don't last any longer. If you have had lace plants sprout let me know. I would be interested. I have had them sprout in a tank and have no clue what I did or didn't do! Counted 90 because I guess I didn't have anything better to do that evening,! Not really but I was curious. Thanks.
Dear John: I've tried growing Java moss in gallon jars in a window, but the moss always gets covered in algae. You may end up with more algae than Java moss in your experiment. For me, Java moss grows best in a 29-gallon, cherry shrimp tank, where the shrimp remove algae. It is growing in my, 75-gallon tank where five, true Siamese algae eaters keep it clear of algae. But, the algae eaters and one goldfish probably consume some of the Java moss as well, so it isn't growing as fast as I'd like. I look forward to seeing if you have success with this project. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
I'll make you a deal Angelo. I will send you a small bag of java moss for free to test shipping in winter to philly. should be interesting to see if it lives. Send me your address to john at tropical fish guy dot com and I'll send you some.
I'm just worried about the structural integrity of the tote where the top is bowing out because of the water. Might think about either framing it or lowering the water level. Otherwise great experiment, gotta keep us updated on this and maybe if you get enough you can sell your own 😂
I think less water in the tote so more light hits the moss? I bought some Java Moss on ebay, it came looking kinda rough. It's bounced back pretty well, but there are still lots of brown bits. I was hoping the brown bits would melt away but noooooo. Plus when I try to pick them out they all seem to have nice green growth on the ends. So I guess I'll just be living with camo looking Java Moss for awhile lol.
@@KenLe1998 Mosses never float? That's categorically incorrect. I have java moss that floats on top of nearly all of my tanks. Infact, THIS is why you have to glue or tie it to things, to keep it from floating away.
I can't find your update to this java moss experiment?
its about 4 months since.... how is the experiment coming along ? Would love a video update haha great job!
I done the same thing with some Christmas moss I ended up with loads of it way more than I needed 😊
Thanks for sharing,
did you have an update?
Is that a full spectrum light?

Great video I'm growing some Taiwan moss of my own to see how it goes
Best of luck! Let me know how it goes.
Hello Johnny,I don't remember if it was you that responded on something about Peacock gundgons but if it is I have a question or two.
Sure. Let me know and I'll try and answer the best I can. I've had a couple of Peacock Gudgeons in my day.

Thanks so much for the insight E.J. I may get some Amano Shrimp if I get algae on the moss.
What’s the shoutout picture?
Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate?
@@TropicalFishGuy In your description, you wrote "Send in your shout out pics to: pics@tropicalfishguy.com"
