    Yes it’s nasty. I took my dust mask off for the video. I always where a dust mast in Attics even in the newer ones.

    Great video! Have read that electrical wires/boxes should not be covered by insulation but I see the pictures with a high level of insulation that makes me wonder how can the electrical lines/boxes be above when the insulation is so high?

    I was doing wiring in a attic that definitely had that type of insulation. Dust.. was in the air the insulation was moved around for light installation. I didn't have any mask or anything. I was exposed to this for about an hour. Am I pretty moved fucked? Like do I have to live with the fact my lungs may fail?

      Hi, I think you’ll be fine … being exposed to asbestos for an hour Isn’t that bad being exposed to it over and over again is when it can build up in your lungs.

    Yeah, you gotta be careful around that stuff, man. Vermiculite insulation is a good sign of asbestos!! To be properly removed, that has to go to certified asbestos removal professionals wearing PPE! Asbestos exposure leads to asbestosis and mesothelioma!

      so it’s a guarantee that you will get it if you inhale asbestos?

    • @TheTechCguy
      @TheTechCguy 2 года назад

      @@leosotelo5119 Scientifically, yes. If you're in a building that was built prior to 1989 in the U.S., chances are that building either still has or used to have asbestos-containing materials such as drywall, ductwork, and plumbing. If it hasn't been abated by certified asbestos removal personnel, do not disturb it or try to remove it. Contact said officials, and have them remove it for you professionally. That way, the building is safe and everyone is healthy.

      Hi Amber the reclamation company will put up poly and fans to contain all the fibres in the air. Once they do the abatement and clean up it will be like it was never there.

    i have a question, my house was built in the 60’s. you mention that it’s unhealthy when it’s disturb. i live in California and we earthquakes. wouldn’t that make disturbance in the attic and make the dust airborne? everywhere we go we breath asbestos right? most buildings in southern california are old and tons of asbestos.

      Hello Leo,
      In principle, a warning is issued against any mechanical stress, as this can release asbestos fibers that are hazardous to health. How many depends on the specific material used and its condition. Earthquakes naturally cause mechanical stresses, depending on their strength and duration, and are therefore a potential hazard.
      But when it comes to your house your question cannot be answered seriously from a distance. If you want a reliable answer in such a case, commission an analysis of the ambient air. The result will provide precise information on whether contamination is present and how high the fiber concentration in the air is.
      Stay healthy!

    • @hatpropertyinspections
      @hatpropertyinspections  2 года назад +1

      Hi Randy yes asbestos abatement and removal can be expensive. But you don’t necessarily have to remove the asbestos insulation it only becomes a hazard when you disturb it and stir up the fibres and then breath them in. If it’s just sitting up there undisturbed it’s not a serious hazard.

    Question: I have asbestos in my adect which is exposed. I would like to use my adect if I put plywood flooring to cover the insulation will the protect me from asbestos exposure, I was up there last week for about 20 minutes and oh so much dust guess I need to suit up and vacuum first. What do you think?

    • @hatpropertyinspections
      @hatpropertyinspections  2 года назад +3

      Hi Randy if there is asbestos insulation up there. Putting down ply wood will Disturb it and make it airborne. This is a Health hazard in the Attic and in the home. I don’t think you should be doing any work up there at all unless you have a professional asbestos abatement contractor evaluate the situation first. They will tell you what is required for you to work up there safely. You could be putting your health and the health of your family at risk by working up there, without a professional asbestos abatement.

      @@hatpropertyinspections Thank you, the whole purpose is to protect my family so I will just leave it alone for now. I will contact someone to give me a estimate. Nothing requires them to report the asbestos right? California is so funny with so many laws.

    • @CRBAnalyseServiceGmbH
      @CRBAnalyseServiceGmbH 2 года назад +1

      If you want to protect your family, please do not use your vacuum cleaner to remove potentially asbestos-containing dust under any circumstances. This is because the respirable fibers are so small that the next time you use the vacuum cleaner, they will disperse them throughout your living spaces.
      Therefore exercise the greatest caution and play it safe at any time! Even a small material sample is sufficient to determine in a professional test procedure whether a suspicious material contains asbestos. If the commissioned analysis confirms the suspicion of asbestos, have any work on it carried out exclusively by service providers with the necessary certificate of competence. This is the only way you can be sure that there will be no accidental contamination of your living space, clothing or workshops with asbestos fibers.
      Stay healthy!

      Please don’t vacuum up there if you have asbestos containing vermiculite. You will contaminate your entire house and expose you and everyone in your house to asbestos
