    How does the trolley pole find the overhead wires? In old days the driver had to step out and manually postion the trolley pole arms.

      There is a simple plastic thing thet directs the poles to the center.
      The bus driver needs to ensure that he is in the right lane for it to work
      Incase of road work, and stuff, the experts simply place the plastic 'guider' to seperate places.

      moderne Busse sind dank Diodentechnik bei der Stromversorgung unabhängig von
      der Polarität

      Ja, das Andrahten funktioniert ohne Trichter oder andere Hilfsmittel im Bereich der Oberleitung, d.h. es funktioniert mit herkömmlicher Trolley-Fahrleitung.

      Beim neuen Swisstrolley 5 von Hess funktioniert das Automatische Andrahten nur mit Trichter. Andere Systeme sind mir in Bern punkto O-Bus nicht bekannt!

    Have real-world applications been rolled out since this animation? So far, the only trolleybus systems that have sections of wireless operation, have special "funnels" to guide the collectors to the wires for reattaching.
    Even the old Duobus system in Essen (Germany) used funnels, even though the wires were offset to one side to allow for the tram catenary. See ruclips.net/video/3ct1IoTrg44/видео.html

    This would just make a lot of traffic due to the bus having to switch source, i DO NOT recommend this at all
