I don't know who this 'Payerrah' fella is, but if Chael is talking this highly about him, he must be good.
He doesn't even try
Hes a racist. @adamm3492
I heard the "he doesn't have a chin " narrative, countered by other people saying it was the result of the weight cut to 185.
He definitely absorbed life altering shots from rountree during their fight and survived those.
There was that one stomach Kick he took that kind of stun them for a second. I don't know why Rountree didn't go back to that but yeah. If there was ever a fight to show us that Alex can take a hit it was last nights fight. @@kev30631

Alex Pereira has not only Won the Light Weight Belt 10 months ago, he has defended that belt 3 more times within winning it.
CRAZY!!
Yea the guy is crazy. What you're seeing some of it is the power of belief. He's got his shaman thing going on and I think he thinks he's got the power. He's fighting a little too often. It's a real head turner thinking of what to do with him next. I think it makes sense to throw him in with Aspinal while he's got this momentum. See what he can do. You lose nothing. He could do that and not even lose his light heavyweight belt.
He never won the lightweight belt
Yes, at 155 pounds, which is Light Weight, Alex is amazing. ;)
He won bantam before too, crazy weight cut/gain on that one
Alex defended Jan having his back for almost 5 minutes an to be fair that wasn’t the best Alex it was his first 205 fight
Alex P is definitely the UFC fan favorite atm, his activity and performances are amazing.
MMA Fighter of the year. Give him his trophy already.
I agree
ALEX PEREIRA IS THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THE UFC AFTER CONOR MCGREGOR!!!! This guy is carrying the UFC completely by himself!
True, we finally have someone that appeals to the casuals that only want to see striking in mma

“Alex Pereira vs Ciryl Gane” would be a guaranteed 🔥 heavyweight scrap.
I been saying the same damn thing !!
Nah Gane would get dropped, dude fights scared
@@serv-on he fights literally like Alex.
@@rubenjaimes1194 lol did you actually watch Ganes fights? Dude was scared in every big match and is nowhere near as fast and precise as Alex.
@@serv-on idk about that.. he is just a very defensive counter-striker.. but when he gets his opponents hurt he goes in for the finish. Ciryl finished the black beast & went the distance with Francis Ngannou. Never seen him get beat up on the feet yet. That’s why I feel seeing arguably the best 2 kickboxers in UFC History fight each other would be very interesting.
"Alex... Pierra. Guys what do we think about this?"

Okay great
Hard to think while in getting things mansplained.
Next fight --> "Alex Pereira will be defeated" - SONNEN, Chael.
Poatan is becoming the modern day Anderson Silva. Not in terms of the level and breadth of skill and dynamics/variety/creativity, but in terms of being the most feared striker in the UFC, who's basically guaranteed to finish and finish brutally. Anderson Silva was SCARY. He was dominant. He was lethal, with the ability to KO at any given point in the fight. And Poatan has earned the same type of reputation and he is an unwavering competitor. Adesanya was thought to be the next striker who would be the spiritual successor to Silva, but he lost his finishing instinct and became a "play it safe" fighter after he became champion. Alex always seeks to finish, and has succeeded with the only exception being Adedanya 2 and Jan. I really think he's the closest thing to Anderson Silva we've seen since he's been gone.
Im glad Raychick is still in title discussion
2:00 Peyera, Uncle Aiev and Raycheck LOL what a Trio😂
I think 1 more defence, and Alex will go from Poatan to Goatan
*The stone goat*
People keep saying he’s never fought a wrestler like he didn’t fight Jan

Uncle Aet/An Goliath is what I kept hearing from Ankalaev. Wild.
Unclealive got me
Chael, respect you as a fighter, and even more as a MMA analyst, but didn’t hear you admit you were wrong by saying Rountree would win over Poatan
How many fighters have you ever seen fight as well as Rountree did and still end up battered and beaten? Poatan is just an exceptional and one of a kind striker. I personally didn't know who would win, because I knew Rountree could take a punch and is a powerful and quick striker too. Plus he's a good wrestler.
Even when uncle’iav fought Thiago, he couldn’t take him down. Thiago actually got on top of Magomed with ground and pound. Compare that with what Hill did to Thiago on the ground.
He’s from a kickboxing gym in Dagestan and does fight camps out of xtreme couture. People just hear Dagestan and think he trained with Abdulmanap lol
Uncle Iav vs Uncle Chael would be a close one
I agree that Ankalaev isn't a wrestler, but he has more than enough wrestling skills to handle Poatan.
Great point, Ankalaev is not a grappler he’s a striker. I keep forgetting. Maybe Ankalaev is around MMA and not a kickboxer.
The greatest Indigenous fighter ever !
He's mostly Portuguese
He won me over! I didn’t care for him and loved Izzy. After seeing him take so many championship fights on just a couple weeks notice and his ability to cut to middle weight and actually beat the champion. He’s currently a doubly champ who has beat 2 previous champs who never lost the belt. He beat 1 twice and he beat the other on like 3 weeks notice with a broken foot. I honestly think he can beat Aspinal! They walk around nearly the same weight. Could you imagine Pereira bulking clean and eating more to add muscle to that lean leant frame he would be a beast at heavyweight! His body and frame can easily add 20 lbs of muscle and stay lean when he’s spent his whole life trying to keep his weight down. He would gain weight easy since he probably dieting to some degree year round staying in fight shape
Legendary Alex poatan Pereira achieved so much both in Glory kickboxing and now in UFC within short period of time that lots of fighters can only dream About that type of achievements
There are only 2 things that separate Jon Jones from any other G.O.A.T contender.
1) Undefeated
2) Longevity . Every fight since March 19 of 2011 has been for a title . 15 in a row and as soon as he steps into the octagon with Stipe that will be 16 fights in a row where a title was on the line. For 13 years straight every fight has been for a title and each time he has walked away with that belt.

4. Lost to Reyes
5. Matt "The goat slayer" Hamill
You can say that he had decisions go his way that should have went the other way but these other guys in the discussion(Pereira) have been flatlined. I don't think that Jon has ever been knocked on his ass.
A 3rd belt would do it. If this Pierra fella wins hw belt that's it.
Chael how did you pick Roundtree over Poatan smh
Look how close he came, if he woulda connected a couple more times he coulda won with a knockout, rocked him good once. He did waaaaay better than anyone but adesanyas rematch.
I heard people like luke Thomas state that Alex had him figured out by the end of round 2. So it was just a matter of breaking rountree down further.

He is the only thing right now that is buzzy. He's kind of demented and he's doing it to us. We're sitting here talking about fighting at 185 again at the same time as heavyweight. He wants to fight the hottest, biggest, fastest, newest thing in the heavyweight division and then acts like he might fight Izzy again at 185 after that. This is crazy. I think, though, that the guy's a heavyweight. Glover thinks he can do it and probably would like him out of 205. This guy is interesting and compelling.
he fought as middleweight dude.
@@af7119 Yea buts hes clearly huge and cutting weight, plus his speed would absolutely dominate most hweights
I am beginning to think the only thing that possibly compromised his chin was the weight cut to 185. He's probably in his perfect fighting weight class right now in the UFC
@@kev30631 If he goes to heavyweight, I think his chin gets further compromised.

I 100% agree you can't say John is the greatest for multiple reasons but Alex is on a different level. The man is trying to fight 3-4 times a year and taking on the best people. I'm a GSP fan and think he's the best ever but Alex is pushing that

Poatan is a performer. His shows are always incredible. I respect that so much.
Maybe it's just me but I think the GOAT of MMA should have better than brown belt level grappling and know what a double-leg takedown is. This whole run has been so blatantly manufactured that it's hard to take any GOAT talk seriously. Still love Poatan, but he had an opponent who did not even try to test his weakest area. That's like if an NBA team refused to take 3s against another team and went only for dunks instead "for the fans" lmao
You picked Khalil right?
Sean Strickland played it safe. He became friends with the guy who beat him. I’ve been fighting all my life in the streets,I can only become friends with the guy who beat me if I beat him back

Wasn’t Chael saying Alex was gonna get smashed now all of sudden he’s riding the Chama wave 🌊 😂
Everytime before the fight Chael is like Alex can’t win this one right after Chael is like he is the goat 😅
Alex Pereira vs John Jones has suddenly become more interesting than the jones vs Ngannou fight ever was.
At this point, let him do whatever he wants. He's the king of the UFC. Watching him knock out a heavyweight would be more impressive than anything else at the moment. I already don't see anybody beating him in LHW.
Everything chael said becomes a background voice of a alex Pereira's highlight reel
when the legendary god of combat chael sonnen says you are great, you are great
I could really care less about Izzy, but his win over Pereira is truly aging better and better. Izzy gets smoked at 205 pounds against him but the win at 85 can’t be taken away from him especially when Alex hints at possibly going back down to 85.
Uncle chael you cannot dictate 'Poatan', you are not the one calling the shot, also does Ankalaev. Alex is the champion and superstar right now, he's calling the shot, he can do whatever he like.
I think the best case scenario would be Alex Poatan Pereira take some time off and get ready to fight for the 185 belt, then if he wins witch I believe he can, take some time to get ready to fight for the heavyweight belt wile holding 185 & 205 bets and then retire either way.
That way he could retire holding 2 or 3 belts which it would be amazing and historic!!!!!
CHAMA 🔥🔥🔥
Pereira looks like a Bigfoot Silva ! I just realized it, maybe they’re part of the same Amazonian tribe 😂

The move to make is Alex Pay Era vs Jon Jones for a GOAT match, then the unification w Tom after also gets a huge bumb riding the hype.
They're building up Conor vs Khabib at LHW with Ankalaev
Not at all, unless you wanna call any fight with striker vs wrestler a "Conor - Khabib kinda fight"
@@Oakenlix ask uncle Chael if he thinks Conor vs Khabib in 2025 would just be any fight
Alex’ chin is way tougher 205 than it was at 185. Roundtree hit him really hard.
That what they say. Good luck then, because now the (only way) to stop him, (is) to take him down.
And you can't be mediocre at that either, or Alex can catch you
Stop Predicting fights u have caused my casual fans money.
After last night, I wouldn't bet against Alex at any weight. I guess Tom has the best chance and I wouldn't count out JJ, but I don't think I'd BET against him!
I think he's more compromised to get knocked out at 185, because of the weight cut. But staying at 205 or going to heavyweight , I agree is his best course.
I don’t want to see Pereira fight another striker. I have seen this too many time. I want to see him fight a grappler, just like when Chael Sonnen fought Anderson Silva.
Chael, you can also flip the argument the other way. Can Pereira take Cyril Gane the way Jon Jones did. However, it you take a look at multiple title fights, defining other champions, no one, not even Jon Jones, has been taking them out the Pereira has. Jon Jones struggled a bit more when he fought other champions (Cyril Gane was not a champion). Jones went the distance in most tittle fights. We saw Pereira struggle against Adesanya and Blachowicz. Other than these two, we haven’t seen him struggle.
Anyway, I wanna see Pereira fight a grappler next.
He cleaned out 205 as far as I care. Unless DDP moves up, then Alex should move up to HW
Alex should stay right where he is at let them come to him...!!!

I predict for you uncle Chael... DDP at 205 will be the end of Alex Pereira! I'm just sharing for you that Alex has not faced a true rounded MMA fighter that could match him with the striking but also could dominate him on the ground. Not for nothing, DDP is a K1 kickboxing champion but also an elite grappler with an Iron chin. We have not seen anyone force AP to fight on the back foot!
Let Alex have some time off to rest and make his own decision. He can defend at 205 again, then when the heavyweight division is actually decided then he can take that challenge after we have clarity and one champion. Alex should take off the rest of the year and come back January or February. He's saved so many cards and should take time to heal and recharge.
Ankalaeve has an average of 1 takedown and a 31% takedown accuracy he is not a wrestler and the only submission he has is a LOSS. I do not get fans saying its the grappling/wrestling that gets him over especially, with those stats
It's most probably be Peaeira vs the winner of Unclealive vs Raychick
New character unlocked - RAECHIKK
Do I think Bones can finish Hill in the 1st round? Yeah, I do. Tomorrow, let alone in his prime.
Reachich could be a sleeper at LHW now that Jiri is back in the cave.
He should stick to his weight class now. He ain’t no heavyweight and that cut is too brutal… for what? He’s in the perfect spot and defending and great fights = GOAT.
His hands looked like stacks of gold bars with those gold gloves on last night.
UFC always happens to have 1 big ticket that will carry the franchise. From Abbott (laugh but true), Gracie, Bad Boy, Laddel, Spider, Rousy, a bunch in between such as Karate Kid, then McGregor, and now Pereira. The difference, this guy has an aura, a thrush about his soul that makes him so appealing.
Bet Alex is the underdog when he fights Ankalaev.
You have to STOP Chael. You literally said Alex was going to get owned. You’re the new Drake
It’s fascinated to hear how neither Chael nor mma fans in general get what they are seeing with Alex.
First, Alex is NOT a great striker. Not even close. If you were to put Pereira in a boxing ring with a world class cruiserweight - his chin jutting out unprotected and hands at chest level and zero defence - he would get smoked in seconds (lest we forget how he DID get starched by Izzy when attacking/leaving himself wide open).
Second, the only reason mma fans believe that Potan is some sort of striking god is that mma striking has traditionally been DIRE - hence he represents at least a step up from the very low level seen to date. But it’s still a low bar.
Indeed, it’s why elite level wrestlers were able to spin that old erroneous ‘wrestling is the base of mma’ trope for so long - as you had very high level wrestlers/ju jutsu competing v VERY low level strikers.
Yet once the level of striker improves - think Whittaker, Wonderboy, Potan, Max, Sean, Jan - then wrestlers will always struggle to take them down/ survive.
Be in no doubt if elite boxers like a Canelo, Dubois, Usyk, Tank Davis were to properly transition - as all individual combat athletes must do when going to mma - then the level of striking (and stand up has long supplanted ground as every fan and Dana’s style of choice) would just go through the roof/wrestling would be further exposed as a second-rate fight discipline - the old one on every fight starting on feet would be realised.
Hence sorry Chael my old mucker - - another wrestler who long dissed boxing having never fought an elite boxer/having never understood it. Yet your chosen discipline is a dying one in the octagon - guts like Max, Sean, Tom, Potan, Izzy, Ilia, Jan and so many more showing even today’s moderately improved strikers now have the number of those ground specialists in many divisions.
Lastly, nobody will be more happy on that than White himself - a guy who now openly hates on anybody going to the ground/threatens guys who font stand/trade with expulsion from the UFC.
Yep, that’s all very good but NOT great Potan has been showing us about the evolution of an mma once a vehicle for showcasing wrestling and ju jitsu but now a place where everybody just wants the ref to….

Chael Sonnen went to the Virgin Islands. They're just the Islands now...
Where was that kind rhetoric towards Alex P in your last post.
Alex had deep guillotine on Jan in his first 205 fight
When it comes to facing other strikers & brawlers.. sure… but Alex barely - rarely fights wrestlers or bjj opponents. Hard to judge him as an overall mma fighter just yet.
lol it has been 2 years and a ton of fights. does it take you this long to order at mcdonald's too?
Cuz ass scooters are boring
Aside from Ankalaev there aren't really any at LHW and he's not even much of a wrestler himself. Jones is the only real credentialed wrestler you'd have any kind of chance at seeing him face and those prospects are slim, Alex probably only has a year or so left in the sport at this point lol. He's almost 40. You can't hold opponents that don't exist against him.
@@cineris2389
You are 💯 correct… I wasn’t denying his positioning in the rankings.. there’s no taking away from his accomplishments.. but I’m critiquing his skills as a overall mixed martial artist for the exact reason you stated. That there aren’t many bjj, judo, or wrestling opponent threats currently in the UFC’s heavyweight divisions top 10. Thus far he has defeated everyone solely by having superior striking skills. Which judging based off his kickboxing credentials most already knew he would be better than most when it comes to striking.

That would be dangerous for Alex, but that would be an amazing fight. Love both of them.
If he défend 1 or 2 more times at 205 , he can put the work in to put mass and maybe get to 245/250
@@freddymathys7645 anything is possible for this guy. He's wowing us each time. Didn't think that he would accomplish all this after Jan split decision.
Fun fact, Jan bkahcovitz clearly won that fight with Alex Pierra. That decision was clearly rigged, that fight changed the course of Alex’s career. He would not have gotten the title shot if they didn’t give him the decision. Somehow that’s been erased from history lol. Also: no one is beating Alex in a kickboxing fight. That’s like someone fighting DC and deciding to have a wrestling match with him. No one would ever do that. But with kickboxing, apparently everyone in mma thinks they can strike with a glory champ. I don’t get it.
