I feel that this may be a metaphor for the Fall of Man, from the Book of Genesis. This may be a stretch, but Xeno games are known for religious symbolism. Shortly after God created Adam and Eve, there was a tree in the Garden of Eden that they were specifically told not to eat from. This tree contained the fruit of the forbidden knowledge of good and evil. A serpent tempted Eve to eat the fruit, and then Eve convinced Adam to eat the fruit as well. Afterwards, their eyes were opened, and they realized that they were naked. Keves and Agnus fight because it's normal for them. It's something they take for granted, and they never question it. However, just as how eating the fruit opened Adam and Eve's eyes, the encounter with Vandham opened Noah and Mio's eyes. They now realize that there is an alternative to fighting. Out of anger, God cast Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, and gave them each a curse that made their lives harder. Adam was cursed to work for food, and Eve was cursed with a painful childbirth. In a similar vein, both Keves and Agnus now treat the six kids as enemies. Ostracized by both of their nations, they are now fugitives. Their lives are much harder now, and they have a massive target on their backs from people who want them dead.
