This is the best product I have found. It works much better than the $1500 unit I rented from Home Depot. For under $600 I cleaned up 2 years of downed branches from my 4 acres. No it is not as easy to feed as $1500 to $2500 units. But the chips are much finer and more usable. This video showed the user feeding over-sized branches into the shredder (1/2 in or less is the limit for shredder). I love the unit and the price.
If you read your instructions, the shredder size limits are... Branches and twigs up to 1/2” diameter and 18” long. Anything large should be put into the chipper chute.
any thing is dangerous when not used right the hopper on top is for shreding leaves not for benches they go in the small tube on the side so chunks won.t fly back at you
Now I understand why you said it's incredibly dangerous. It is very dangerous, but some dangers can be lessened or magnified based on how you operate the unit. It makes me cringe seeing you put your hand so far down the hopper. A far safer way to push the branches down the hopper is to use a thick branch or stick to force stuffs down the hopper. Sometimes the stick will get chewed up, but it's better to have the stick getting chewed up than your hand.
i have this exact machine and top hopper is for leaves only big sticker that says so. so the operator is being foolishly dangerous , its a wonder the machine has not failed yet
You should put nothing thicker than 1/2 inch diameter twigs in the hopper and dismembered (all limbs removed) branches of about 2, 1/2 inches max, through the chute. Any bigger and you shouldn't really be mulching it anyway, as it's a log.
Incorrect use makes any power equipment dangerous. When using a chipper/shredder, woody items go into the chipper, while leaves and plants go into the shredder hopper.
I’ve got one of these and you don’t put what he’s putting in the top. Branches go in the side hopper, no matter the size. Only small twig-lets go in the top. SMH!
John Sobraske Good luck trying to get those crooked braches through the chipper chute. The machine can handle what he's feeding it. The problem is the rubber safety flap in the top chute. Instead of being able too just drop things in you have to stick your hand in the machine to get it to feed.
Geez I how many times you acknowledged this could be a really dangerous thing, you matched that with sticking your hand into the hopper while it was running. Go back to playing with nerf balls.
3" is what it has for a round opening at the deep end of the tunnel. That's bigger'n a baseball bat! The entrance is an oval, for curved and twisty branches. It gobbles big Stuff like a BEAST. I bought one used, and love it.
How about when you talk about a switch, think about POINTING THE CAMERA AT THE SWITCH. Great fun watching someone using a machine wrong too. Mate. It's not the machine that's dangerous. You are. Don't wear gloves when feeding a chipper! The gloves get caught on a snag, and your hand gets pulled into the chipper. Goodbye hand. Same with grinding wheels, polishing wheels and pillar drills. No gloves means no injuries. In addition, The small branches go in the small hole, and "the big towels are on the top shelf" Starskey! What a laugh! 🤣😅😂🤣😅
Of course it takes time to stop. Are you Ralph Nadars son? It spits out when the bag is almost full because there is no where to go. Pay attention. Branches in the front, leaves in the hopper. You are hopeless.

Thank you mister perfect language police.
auto correct changed branches to benches I'm glad you are so perfect your pencils don't have erasers

Even a Nerf ball can be dangerous when used by an idiot.

tldr; "You're doing it wrong!" Thanks for your comments Antony, think I'm picking one of these up this week.

I'm so stupid, I wrote a song about it! ruclips.net/video/uptgDXp9gRo/видео.html
I just bought the beast on line today, thanks for the demo, you just can't see this in the manual.
He's using this incorrectly - branches and twigs > 1/2" go in the chute on the side! The hopper is for leaves. Reading the manual would be helpful...

John Sobraske Come on please I got one I’ve never had any issues with it it works good as long as you feed it right
Brush in the hopper, branches in the feed horn!!!
Run for your life, dangerous machine here. Tip of the day, stay away from snow blowers.
Lol
Even professional chippers your not supposed to stick your hands in it . The very large chippers you push the debris in with a stick . Holy moly
He'll only make that mistake twice.
Good demonstration but clearly this guy should not own a wood chipper

I wonder what the biggest limbs it will cut
davros123ify 3 inches through the chute on the side and 1/2 inch or smaller through the top. The top SHOULD only be used for leaves and weeds etc...
Probably arms.

DON'T PUT YOUR HAND IN!!! ARE YOU CRAZY?!!!
I like your chipper
That. POSis a lawsuit waiting to happen thanks for the info.

Thanks for the awesome review!

I don't think I look like Ralph at all. And thanks for the view!
BREAKING NEWS.
Man uses mechanical device without understanding what design constraints are.
WARNING!
SCENES OF INEXPERIENCE AND NON LEARNING FOLLOW.
Painfully hard to watch. If you don't know how to use something make sure you make a video of it like you're an expert lol
That's kind of my thing!
