    as someone that was diagnosed with adhd within the last year, it is so refreshing seeing other adults speaking about their experiences and the effects of being diagnosed later in life.
    a lot of what you said about your own experience resonated with me- especially on the fact of finally learning why you react the way you do in certain situations and feeling like something is ‘wrong’ with you pre-diagnosis. it’s a breath of fresh air hearing similarities of my own experiences in other’s stories and I’m so thankful that these things are being talked about more widely on the internet now.
    thank you for sharing your story Cat! I always appreciate hearing what other neurodivergent people’s journeys to their diagnoses’ were like!

      thank you, meg! i'm so glad it resonated with you and i'm glad you don't feel like it's an over saturated discussion :) just curious, do you take medication? i always find varying answer to this fascinating.

    • @Meg_Anderson
      @Meg_Anderson 4 месяца назад +1

      @@catrific i don’t as of right now! I am weighing out my options currently, but I think I’m leaning more towards giving medication a go.
      I was diagnosed during my final year at university and sortve neglected looking properly into my options as I was overwhelmed with the workload and other aspects of university life, and to be honest was more focused on just getting through that. But since graduating I’ve definitely had time to reflect on my choices and am making more of a conscious effort towards doing what’s best for me and my adhd :)

    Holy this video was refreshing I love finding ADHD content that’s not just a clinical or a “Here are some tips for someone with broken brain!” As someone who has ADHD combined type that was diagnosed as an adult as well it has been a journey to realize how many of my (What I thought were personality traits or personal pitfalls) were actually just symptoms of ADHD. I would love to hear about your experiences! Specifically story times or just things that you find helpful interesting or funny being a neurodivergent adult! I’m so glad to see you post again and that you’re well 🫶🏻

    Thank you so much for this video! As a diagnosed autistic, I hear all of these symptoms when people self diagnose themselves with autism and I just want to tell them to just say neurodivergent until they have a diagnosis because I feel like it could be damaging! (Someone saying they’re autistic but rlly have ADHD could make accessing medication harder for themselves) A lot of symptoms overlap, and ADHD and autism are both spectrums of course, but I wish everyone would be a little more mindful.

    • @catrific

    Don't we all become ADHD trying to cram so much into our heads in the tech age anyways? As for being bored to death, yeah, without distractions around like the TV, internet, radio, newspaper, CD's, being bored to death is a critical condition. There's also demotivational syndrome where you just lose interest in doing anything, period. It must be psychological death or close to it and how many days can you wake up and stay in that state? I tend to avoid talking about mental health because not all prescription drugs are helpful and can be dangerously unhelpful, same with doctors. If you're having good luck with your treatment, good on you. It's a bit of a bright spot to hear tales of success. Sometimes success is short-lived though. You could be going on well for a couple years, then everything wears off and you're deeper into another cavern of mental problems. I mean what part of the DSM doesn't apply then, lol?

    Question from curiousity, which comes from my own search... how much do you recognise yourself in autism? Your story sounds a lot like mine, and me and my mental health professionals haven't worked out yet if I could be autistic as well.

    • @catrific
      @catrific  4 месяца назад

      I've had the thought for sure, but I am also ok not knowing if there's some level of autism present here... at the moment it's not altering my life to were a diagnosis for that would help me.... If that makes sense. So, for now - the system I have is working for me and so I'm ok with not digging more.

    • @LindavanderHoek
      @LindavanderHoek 4 месяца назад

      @@catrificIt’s the same for me. Just not curious enough in the moment to find out if I’m autistic. My systems kinda work for me, but at the same time I’m experiencing some sort of burnout, where I’m doing way better than 6 months ago, but at the same time I don’t get anything done the day after 3 days of work. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I think it’s from unmasking from adhd; way less anxiety, and because that was often my motivation to do shit, I’m not getting anything done 😒
