For me, Dolphin didn't show the "GameCube Adapter" section with Direct Connect. Instead, I just selected "GameCube Adapter for Wii U" for each of the controller ports. Worked like a charm!
That's the best way to use the gamecube adapter for Dolphin, no need to remap and the controller works the exact same way that it would in a real gamecube. Thanks for the great explanation.

Hey, silly question here : I'd like to use my 4 gamecube controllers to play non-GC games on my computer with my friends. Is this possible with the mayflash thing or is it only working with GC emulators ? Thanks !
Thank you so much dude, this really helped me out a lot. I've been having so much trouble before with vjoy and stuff, but this is much better. Thank you so much!
Zadig was successful, but it still won't show in the DEVICE menu where yours says MAYFLASH- gamecube controller, mine says keyboard. I tried to reinstall the drivers on zadig but it just fails now, but it says its correct. What do I do? lol
i figured it out, in the controller menu where you would normally assign it to 'standard controller' just set the port to GameCube Adapter for Wii U. the controls will automatically be mapped. it worked for me
this comment is old so im sure you've figured it out, but this only changes the way your computer interprets the controller, so the controller and adapter should output the same as long as you flip the switch back to wii u
its not working for me, i did every step u made, still not detecting my adapter, i got the 4 ports mayflash. when i go on dolping and on GC configuration it says on device something like ''DInput/0/Keyboard Mouse'' and now i dont know how to make things right. ive tried for a few days and im really getting pissed at this, why is this happening? i also got the older version so i could use the detection but right when i switched to PC it fuked up.. please can someone help me?
Hey I had this same problem, someone else found this fix down below. Switch the controller settings off of standard controller and switch it onto Gamecube Adapter for Wiiu, configure nothing. Refresh and you should be good to go!
Sean Marshall the first day I tried playing my lag was very bad. I did a bunch of online ping test and my “jitter” was very bad with my ping spiking horribly. I tried a couple days later and it was 100x times better, I’m not sure why. I picked ppl close to me. My internet is the best available internet to me. I’ve also read that being connected to the Ethernet is more helpful than being on WiFi for it. Since it’s online there’s always a tiny bit of lag, if that’s what you’re referring to you might just have to get used to it unfortunately.
I have managed to test the device on Ubuntu with mixed results on Melee. While controls do work, they have a slippery feel to them that makes it difficult to nail precise moves. Just to be sure, I tested the controls on Gamecube, and sure enough the feel for it was different. Granted I was unable to get the Zadig program to work on my end, but I managed to get a workaround working using a controller mapper called jstest. It's finicky, but the solution is workable. I'm assuming though if I can get the drivers another way however, then the experience will be smoother.
Mine Worked For 1 Game.. (Mayflash 4 Port..PC Switch..Used "Normal Controller" Or Something.. Mapped Every Button) Then It Stopped Recognizing It Once I Switched Games 🤔 Would This Zadig Mess Up My Mayflash Adapter's Functionality With All My Other Already Working Emulators ?
This doesn't mess up the adapter to that you can't use it on the Wii U still right? I just got kinda nervous when it said replace drivers and I want to make sure that it will still work on my Wii U
in the video you stated that before plugging in the controller, make sure the mayflash adapter is switched to wiiu, and not pc (then you show a picture of the adapter switched on PC mode). For clarification, it needs to be switched to wiiu mode? im curious why pc mode will not work.
I finally got it to work after a restart but it keeps moving in one direction to the left. I may still send it back. Turns out I was holding a button down while plugging it in. I think I remember it did that on the real machine too.
What if I have a GC controller with an USB end (straight into the PC without any adapter). It seems like my PC can identify it but the dolphin emu does not approve. It wants that Wii u adapter. Is dolphin simply not fit to handle direct USB connection with a controller? Then I should try get a refund and get a normal GC controller and an adapter?
I would be doing this for Dolphin v 5.0. Does this method support rumble? All I've been trying to do is find out how to use rumble with the Mayflash 4-port.
I'm having a problem with my left trigger , its way too sensitive and even the smallest tap will set it off and keep it pressed. is there a way to set a deadzone for the analog triggers ?
Adapter Official is better calibrate right? And Can I play all games GameCube (on Dolphin) ? Work fine at 4 ports controllers ? I want buy Official Adapter GC to Wii U for Dolphin 4 players local. Thank you.
I'm going to try to translate your question and then answer. Both adapters are well calibrated, and I don't think you will notice a difference depending on which one you get. Once you have the controller adapter setup, it will work with any game on Dolphin. All 4 ports on the adapter will work properly if setup correctly.
So I am using a Hyperkin adapter and the controllers work and everything, but the rumble doesn't. I made sure the Rumble box was checked in the settings and made sure it is on in the game settings as well but no luck. Both of the USBs are plugged in. Will I need to use a Mayflash or official adapter for rumble? Any other solutions? Any help would be much appreciated.
So when I use Zadig with an official Wii U adapter, it shows up in the device list as "GameCube Controller Adapter." I try to run it using that option, and it doesn't seem to work.
When you modify drivers, will it stay modified if you switch to a different computer? Had to ask because I was wondering if I could set up drivers at home and then play at school.
The drivers that are being modified (as far as I'm aware) are the ones on your computer. So I don't think it will carry the modifications to other computers. You could possibly try having the drivers on a USB drive and moving them onto whatever computer you try switching the controller adapter over to, but I have no clue whether that would work or not.
Everything works fine but i cannot cnfigure it to the standard controller, if i leave it as the adapter everything works except my left stick and arrow pad, any help?
so when I do this to set up my controller it doesn't say wup-028. Instead it says mayflash controller interface 1,2,3,4. It also says USb ps/optical mouse, bulk in bulk out interface 0, and USB 2.0 -CRW (interface 1). I've tried to put the black usb chord into every slot on my pc but it doesn't show the wup-028. For some reason when I try to pair my Mayflash adapter to Zadig it only comes up as "MAYFLASH GameCube Controller Adapter" and doesn't come up as WUP-028 please please please tell me if you have something for this cause it just refuses to work with gamecube otherwise.
There should be a switch on the back of it, one side says "PC" and the other side says "Wii-U/Switch". Make sure it's set to the Wii-U option, which should change the device that appears to WUP028. Hopefully this helps.
@@jalleFPS Yeah someone told me before but thank you again cause my friends have been telling me oh you gotta set it to pc for it to work so thank you! :)

this change is to the computer side of the adapter's functionality. It doesn't change the adapter in any way, just how the computer reads it. It won't change its functionality with any other piece of technology besides the computer that you install the drivers on.
Why do I change the switch to wii? I mean there must be a reason for a „pc“ option. Why cant I just switch the button to pc, plug the controller in and play that way? I would appreciate if you could explain that. I’m just curious.
windows doesn't recognize the usb cord and doesn't let me download the zadig drivers. It shows up on zadig as "unknown driver device (device descriptor request failed)
So i have this problem. I do everything right and it detects the controller. but when i get in game I am always shielding. like the right trigger is always being pressed. and its not the controller because every one i plug in it does it. So if anyone could help that would be awesome.
