The characters during the first season appears to be inconsistent occasionally compared to the consistency and the often high quality in season 2, it's incredible how KyoAni adapts their art style and perfects it so fast. I've only realized that after watching this compilation.
Well they seemed to have a pretty limited budget and time for S1. They reused a lot of assets and animations and some episodes like the two trips at Mugi's summer places are extremely similar. In several ways the first season is rushed down to a brutal cut in ep12 just after the concert without any sendoff to end the season and with 2 extras to add some more.
