I love how this performance really demonstrates the way NGGYU, Together Forever, and I Should Be So Lucky are effectively variations of the same song. He's able to transition between them seamlessly, and I expect it would be entirely possible to make a mix of parts taken from all three of them and end up with something that could pass for one song.
..and also like close to half of charting pop four-bangers. Just the nature of the industry, especially as it narrows to like six major working producers
@@realQuestion Quite true. Actually, to be fair to them, it’s kinda remarkable that pop producers manage to disguise it as well as they do. In a way it reminds me of a discussion I had over quite a few lunch breaks back when I was an undergrad, which basically went: “if we wanted to copy someone else’s work (off the internet or whatever) for an assignment, how could we go about it in a way that wouldn’t be noticed (or caught by anti-plagiarism algorithms)?” Not particularly admirable from any point of view, and yet at the same time I’m not at all surprised some people manage to make a career out of it. >_>
I would see him live, after seeing this, he's got a cool voice for live singing, he's got a bit of buble/McDonald twang in his singing. Nice one Rick keep it up.
Nice video! I especially enjoy the fact that the violinists in the background are playing for real (and so is the cellist). It's nice to see that in this type of gig!
Is it wrong to still have a crush on Rick after all these years? They guy is cute as heck and I love his voice. Don't care about the h8ters, I love his songs!
I'm pretty sure he has dyed his hair brown at the point he made this video. If you look at his videos from the 80's it is clear he has vibrant red hair.
Look what a good time his backing musicians are having. This is a well-liked guy in the industry

So do I. I was 11-12 when he hit it big! I want to meet the guy who invented the Rick Roll and shake his hand!
@@jenniferpruitt6534 Cotter invented Rick ROLL but this man is responsible behind this beautiful 🥰 Song and Together Forever
Probably my favorite version of this song, I like the "Together forever" bit at 2:46
I like how he says "you're too shy to say it" so seductively at 0:59 XD .

This version sounds a bit like a Michael Mac Donald song.
