Hey Broadbent! You could build the nets around the boat and make another layer of platforms around it so you have many basic stuff for building / crafting

*Vine goo, not Vine god. It's basically just like sap from pine trees, it's sticky. The game itself said "like glue", and that's your clue.

Leaving one space between nets will let you collect a lot more stuff until you can cover the whole raft in them.
