1:16 That moment when everybody went to Darci but Simon went to comfort Angelica first. He might be tough and sometimes harsh but he has a good heart inside
the ones who loss are the ones who really need the comfort and support. especially when they were so very close to winning. to have come so far and come so close, only to have loss. that's a lot of pressure on children who make it all the way to the finals. Simon tries not to be bias so he doing his job. He thinks about everything that effects their performance. He tuff and fair. he also cares about the children especially when they loose.
I’m sorry but the first people who ran to Darci were her brothers which obviously would do that and then Mel b which gave her the golden buzzer so I mean what do you expect.
Jordan P. Her brothers were wrong though. They are way older than Darci and just pushed Angelica away. That was classless. Darci didn’t even hug Angelica back.

Baltimore Ravens Darcy did literally the exact the same thing when she beat a 10 year old girl with a medical history including having a double ammonia and having a kidney transplant. But Angelica still hugged her in congratulations, that's the whole point.

I wasn't using the sob story card which, Angelica or Mandy obviously doesn't need, I was using it to compare the reactions of Angelica and Darcy to winning against someone with a perceivable handicap. Even if what you say is true I fail to see any fault in the part of anyone in either of these situations.
I know! Darci is such a great kid with great talent very few people have, and inspired a ton of others to do ventriloquism! And same for Angelica! Keep continuing your amazing talents!

She needed it after being bumped aside by Darci's big brother like that. I know, probably caught up in the moment. But the courteous thing he could've done was WAIT until Angelica left since she and Darci had developed a close friendship through the course of the competition.

This little girl is too cute for words. But i LOVE that Angelica is 9, and her first reaction wasn't to be upset or mad, or throw a fit, but to go over and hug Darcy. So amazing that a 9 year old can do things not a lot of adults can do. Love them BOTH!

Angelica is so sweet. She tried to keep a smiling face all the while, and went strainght to congratulate Darcy. basically, i was for Darcy, but Angelica has truly melted my heart with her kindness at that moment. THey both deserve the best.
Considering these were two little girls, they should’ve had a better plan for what would happen when they called the winner. Poor Angelica just stood there, looking around for some help, and I’m sure she was so upset. Simon Cowell immediately went to her, and stayed with her. He was just what that sweet girl needed, and didn’t wait a moment to get over to her. I know he can be a meanie, but that was extremely decent of him.

A boy has no name they were both in tears before the winner was announced. They both had talked bout how they became close being the youngest ones on the show previously. They were friends-which is why they were so upset because only one would win. Also, darci didn’t immediately hug her back because believe it or not winning a million dollars on live television may be a little overwhelming for a young teenager.
I really think they should of called the winner of the show over, while they waited backstage on different sides.
Simon’s honestly a really nice person. He does genuinely want to help people and when he recongnises talent, he does want to help that person get better. Let’s give credit to Tyra as well though for going to Angelica before Darcy

Given that they were both mere children, I think it was rather cruel to have just the two of them standing there on their own (for what seemed like an eternity) when only one would win, It would have been preferable to have other people standing there with, or behind, them - family, eliminated contestants, or just back-up dancers,. And bravo Simon Cowell for apparently being the first to realise the glaring insensitivity and intervene. (I suppose it's just possible that the solitude of the runner-up could have been a deliberate ploy on the part of the show's producers, to pull on the audience's heartstrings. In which case, shame on them.)

Crazy Chameleon not really this happens a lot where the judges or fans vote on how good someone is for there age rather than overall talent, because there more sympathetic towards the young kids. Not saying either of them was bad, but it's pretty common to see children as finalists

Aww... both of those girls were amazing and super talented. I wished they both had won, but there can only be one winner. I feel sorry for Angelica, but happy for Darci. Same if it had been otherwise.
DragonQueenGirl they were both amazing. There were a ton of good acts this year and I often found myself at odds of who to vote for.
But there can only be one winner and so it was Darcy.
As for the other contestants that didn't win, I hope they take this experience and use it to open doors.
Angelica had an amazing voice and at such a young age, I'm sure she will go far and we'll hear from her in the future.
Chase is a star in the making. We'll be seeing more of him.
Sara and Hero, I doubt this is it for them. She definitely showed her family and she will go even further.
As for Darcy, I think a small segment in Sesame Street would do her good.
She's still young and the younger children will enjoy it.

It seems so torturous the way they made those poor girls wait so long to hear the result. Broke my heart to see Darci look over at Tyra at 0:34, like "Please just tell us"! Two beautiful, talented angels who got their start on AGT as children and are sure to make big names for themselves. Darci so deserved her win, and Angelica was the picture of grace, hugging her friend and then quietly stepping out of the way when the brothers jumped on the stage. That was a lot for a ten year old to take in and handle. I love how Simon instinctively went right up to Angelica at the perfect moment. Would love to know what he said!

Darci had won this show since her first audition. She wowed a lot of people in her first audition, continued to get better with each audition and became the most popular act and for good reason. She's a singer, comedian and ventriloquist. Her possibilities are endless and she's only 12. Unlike the adults who had years and years to practice and hone their craft, she's almost mastered her craft at 12 and that's true talent. Congrats Darci.

Darci is incredibly multi-talented as an artist, but also a magical human being ..... there's an incredible energy and aura about her, and a genius type vibe ..... props to Simon for going over to comfort and reassure Angelica..... he was absolutely smitten with Darci since the first time she ever stepped on their stage, and was thrilled for her winning, but still had enough presence to go to Angelica first .... .. it was also sweet for Angelica to walk over and hug Darci, although the moment clearly overwhelmed and broke Darci down....... she looked as if she was about to pass out during the long anticipation of the announcement ..... they were all all-around awesome here ..... and gotta give Tyra props....she brings so much life to this.... these shows need to pay her enough to have her host .... Terry Crews and others are a snoozefest compared to her massive confidence and personality

People often view coming in second as a loss on AGT. Really, I think that coming in second on a show as well-known and filled with talent as America's Got Talent just means that you are still way more talented than you'd give yourself credit for otherwise.
Chin up, Angelica, because runner-up doesn't mean that you failed. It means that you just didn't quite beat those other acts. You just need to try that little bit harder and push for that victory the next time you have a go at it.

i know this was 4 years ago but I’m still annoyed that everyone keeps saying angelica should have won. No she shouldn’t have. Firstly, darci sang WITH HER MOUTH CLOSED. She hit high notes and everything and sounded amazing. She also had different personas with her different puppets, was hilarious and incorporated different aspects into her act. She also managed to time the puppet’s movements with her singing and let’s face it, that’s not easy. Most people can’t even sing let alone do ventriloquism but she can do both. Angelica hale can sing but yea well so can many other people and she’s not that great. Also for those saying darci didn’t hug Angelica back clearly she was still in shock and so so so happy because cmon if you put in so much hard work and from being a shy person came to win one of the biggest shows ever, I would be so happy and amazed. Wouldn’t you? As for her brothers running up and congratulating her, yea obviously her sister just won one of the biggest shows ever. and like for everyone saying that so many people went to congratulate darci first, HELLO SHE WON DID ANGELICA WIN? True. But perhaps Simon was perceptive enough to notice that Angelica was one small figure alone on a big stage, utterly ignored. Whatever his motivation, Simon was the one who kept her from being alone.
I think that Darci's and Angelica's mothers should both have been in the wings when the announcement was made. One of them was going to need her mother at that moment, no matter how supportive she was of the other. It was very wrong of AGT to put them in the audience instead of with their children at a time of immense stress (too much stress to lay on chioldren, actually).
akaSlasher I totally agree with your comment! I feel terrible for Angelica even though AGT’s intention wasn’t to make her feel ignored they sort of did but thank God Simon noticed and gave Angelica some recognition. I feel especially bad when the brother shoved her out of the way.

Tyra has an amazing personality and is very beautiful. But I did not enjoy her as a host for this show. At all. The way she leads up to results comes across very mean. She didn't even say congratulations. She just pulled her brother and said *"who are you?"* Then she told her family, *"Get up here now. Get up here right now."* And the shouting at the end sounds unenticing. *"I am Tyra Banks. And where is Darci? Darci come here, they need to see you."* All shouting. I understand the crowd is cheering and there is noise to compete with; what I don't understand is why she can't at least smile or come across friendlily. I also cringed at "Hi, hi, it's Ty, Ty." Not hating at all, just saying how it comes across to me, the viewer. I love her own show very much.

not to knock Angelica BUT... she just sang ...other peoples songs and hearing her sing she did good but sometimes she strained or yelled her notes in a few years she should come back to AGT and she would definatly will win... Darci told jokes ,did a puppet, and sang without moving her lips with a different voice than her own...with 3 different puppets...Angelica was good BUT IMO Darci was hands down better

Darci Lynne is a great act. She's very witty for her age, and you can tell that she writes her own stuff (except that one time she reused jokes but I can look past that ,-,). Her performance with Terry Fator showed that she's also a very good singer that can do a lot (that opera note :O). Overall, I'm happy for her and think she deserves the million dollars and Vegas act. Hopefully she can get a TV show sometime in the future, I know I'd watch it.

I dont like how it felt like 2 beautiful and talented children were pitted against one another i think that should have been handled more delicately once if came down to children as the finalists. That had to be devastating for angelica as well as hurtful yet she could teach alot of adults about sportsmanship when she hugged her "opponent" while crying for her own loss. I dont think she should walk away empty handed they should have different standards when children are at the center of the spotlights. Congratulations Darci and congratulations to angelica you are both talented and beautiful girls beautiful on the inside as well as the outside!!
Andrea Gibson . Not as bad for Angelica as most people think. She already knew that Darci was going to win. All the contestants said so throughout the competition, and all the judges were saying Darci will win. Plus there’s the comment that Angelica made to Tyra. ‘ no matter what happens I’m still a winner so thank you America for all you’ve done for me. She was humble in defeat and backstage when a reporter asked if she was sad for not winning, she said ‘no because my best friend won it.’

They should have at least hold all these other people from entering the stage for few more moments and let the host talk to Darci. What I'd like to see is more of the reactions and feelings of the winner. Few seconds after the announcement the stage got crowded you couldn't even see her. I understand the producers were out of the allotted time for the live broadcast, but they could have easily gotten 2 more minutes by shortening the other useless segments of this 1 and half hour results show, after all the results is the reason we watch it.
This show has definitely very good production quality, but the results shows could have definitely be done better.
I agree. I honestly never liked the finale because it feels like a bunch of filler, and in this particular one the guest performances were all pretty bad (besides Darci/Terry and Evie/Chase/James). They also had 2 commercial breaks within like 90 seconds of each other, which was just annoying.
mackocour, I completely agreed with you. The ending wasn't perfect and they are always rushing to finish the show when they waste most of the time before. After announcing the winner, Tyra should have hugged the girls and asked them to say something. Then the judges should have said something as well. Finally they could let the family come up on stage and enjoy private moments as the show ended.
mackocour You are right. The finale could be done in a five minute during a commercial. Ok but seriously we don't need 1 hr and 30 mins of performances and rushing to tell the results in the last 30 mins. They should have a one hour finale with a few guest performers and then tell the results.
I agree as well. I never liked the ending of AGT. At least with American Idol, generally they have the winner perform one more time. But AGT fills us with BS for 1 hour and 50 minutes and then tends to rush the results and as soon as the winner is announced, the credits roll. But of course, the producers are too good for the people who actually watch the show and then take time to comment. I wish they would take note of what the fans are saying.

I am not American. I did not watch the whole show but I found out Darci Lynne won it - which is great but I never felt so scared in all my life at the final announcement when I realized the other finalist is also just a little girl.
I consider myself a tough guy as I've had my share of beating up grown men. I cried.
