I loved bf1 a lot. It was one of the most immersive shooters I've ever played. Not just because of the atmosphere of the game but because of the "over the top" playstyle gamers have and how just as chaotic ww1 battles actually were in real life.

BF peaked in BF1. After this all the old school devs left and the new ones simply didn't know how to make the most out of the existing engine and game codes.
everything about this game's atmosphere is perfect, dark, grim, the screams of soldiers, gunshots, loud explosion, the sound of a tank roaring nearby, the planes engines noises reaching closer. Its all perfect and you would imagine that other games would've taken after this style, but somehow we're still getting money pumps like bf2042
I remember being so into BF1 that I made an attempt to unlock every weapon and only use the closest historically accurate gun that each faction would have used during WW1 to better immerse myself. Yep it was amazing. Edit: The most fun was using the Lee Enfield and Russian 1895! I would play a more aggressive role as a British Infantry while the latter was more of a lone Russian sniper playstyle. The most interesting faction for me was the French/Italians as the Chauchat/Perino Model 1908 were wierd yet fun to use. As a side note sometimes I would remove the hud and if I could, change the in-game voiceover language to whatever faction I was playing as. Definitely one of the immersive bafflefields I've ever played. I just wish BFV could have also nailed the historical accuracy a little better.
I did the exact same thing to the point where i had like 30 service stars with the smle infantry even to the point where i bought a real life MK3 Lee Enfield because i think it’s so cool.
Yeah I think it helped with not just the immersion but also with the fun factor! If I was doing bad I didn't care because aiming to be more historically accurate was enjoyable. But woah that's dope that you bought a real MK3 Lee Enfield, it's a truly classic rifle.
BF1 is a work of inspired genius backed up by passion, dedication and professionalism. Built to be a truly great game and nothing else. BF1, and even more specifically Operations in BF1, is the entire series at its highest point. In atmosphere, immersion and gameplay that is deeply satisfying and fun. There are still servers up and running on console and PC. Easy to revisit and get back into, and well worth it.
Unfortunately, I did the entire Phantom easter egg for the Peacekeeper pistol back when I played on PS4, and since then, I've moved to PC. Since cross-progress isn't a thing, I'll be starting fresh, with nothing of what I had on console, and you could not pay me to ever do the shit to get that revolver again.
BF1 was perfect in almost every respect. It nailed everything and hit all the right marks. I doubt we’ll ever see the coalescence of such a vision ever again.
Even the gameplay trailer of BF2042 couldn't even get remotely close to the feeling of a normal match in BF1. Let alone the trailer for BF1, that one is still unmatched as the best gameplay trailer ever made in my opinion.
I remember my first time playing on Argonne Forest. I hear the massive explosive turrets echoing and causing the bass in my headphones to rattle my ear drums from The Behemoth. As I’m trying to run out of the bunkers in hopes of securing the last few kills I think our team needed to move on to the next sector, I stopped completely to watch some people get lit on fire by the flame trooper. All of this madness going on at the same time and I’m scared for my fake solder in-game. I couldn’t imagine how it felt in real life when those brave men didn’t have a second chance if they went down. Amazing.
This game literally changed my life. I remember playing it when I was 13 or so and wandering how the fuck could mankind fuck up like that. After that I became extremely interested in war psychology, that is, how you convince millions of 16 years old that killing and dying for you nation is justifiable. I'm in college planning to major in the study of Communication and Political Propaganda and I own to BF1 for putting me on this track.
Oh yeah, and that tuturial mission got tattooed into my brain, it still gives me the creeps, specially because I always try to SURVIVE instead of killing.
It's pretty simple: negative reinforcement. One side says the other is going to kill you and destroy your home if you don't kill for your country, and vice-versa. You get arrested for deserting. Also, positive reinforcement. In WW1 there was a lot of nationalism between the European nations. Young people felt pride in being soldiers, it's something they wanted to be. Going to war was like going on a rock n roll world tour. Your parents would be proud, the girl you like would be proud, your country would be proud. Why not?
@@joaov_ds Yeah, but after studying as much as I did, I belive there's so much more than social reinforcement to justify war mentality. Actual young volunteers will justify serving their country by mostly pointing internal interests, such as wishing to "do good", have discipline, make a change or even seek adventure. Those concepts are so broad that they could fit in almost any society or ideology, which (to put it broadly) would be as if people "wish" to go to war and use arbitrary external factors as means to partiality justify their own desire. A kid fighting for ISIS has not a very different mentality than another kid fighting for the US, both have a surprisingly similar psychology despite the ideological differences.
I can't believe I slept on this game. I was utterly dissapointed at 2042 and decided to get bf1 and v on the current sales. Holy shit, I am amazed at how good these games are. Astounding and so happy to be able to play these now, with a pretty active server count.

And the netcode is so good i honestly can't tell the difference between my local 20-ping servers and the foreign 120 ping ones, i just have a great time on both.
BF1 was the first battlefield I ever played. Bought 5 on the strength of it and ditched it after a couple of weeks. Why did they get rid of operations? That was a hugely entertaining way to spend an hour or so trying to win both battles.
Bf1 will always be superior, but I still enjoyed bf5s take on operations with the multi stage attacks. 2042 totally botched the idea with breakthrough though, it doesn't play like operations at all.
Me too, BF1 was my first but I didn't buy BF5 for many reasons. I was even prepared to preorder 2042 but fortunate enough not to. So sad what happened to this franchise....
Aw man Passchendaele...I freakin love this map to death. It brilliantly captures the apocalyptic nature of war, with the dark murky skies, toxic gas plaguing one side of the map, another side covered in flames, and the in middle was just mud and rubble where the soldiers (players) would clash. It's a shame I can rarely find games on this map, at least on xbox, because it's downright my favorite map in all of multiplayer fps games

When I say Battlefield 1 is a work of art and my favorite game people laugh at me. These videos prove my point: I've never gotten so immersive in a game like Battlefield 1. I still remember a match I had in in the name of tsar dlc where I was inside of a trench and I could hear bombs falling, soldiers screaming, the shots... It was perfect and a experience I never had in any other game and I probably will never have again. I also remember my first match in turning tides dlc where they added those warships and It was so satisfying to play with them, hearing the sea while aiming people in land was incredible. For me bf1 was a work of art because it wasn't just a generic game like those we have today, you could see the passion of the team developing the game: they wanted to show us that war isn't funny, it's brutal, and also cared to show us other aspects of ww1 that we never heard of on school. Besides that, you have that soundtrack, that's my favorite thing on this game and it's what gave bf1 that aspect of "it's not just a game" thing, I could spend all my afternoon listening to in the name of tsar soundtrack: those men singing like soldiers, the melancholy and also the hope to end the war, it was a masterpiece. Battlefield will never be this good again.
Damn man bf1 is the best but win you play in any of the tsar maps its so immersive map layout best dlc ever in my opinion was the tsar also lets not forget the tsar insane sound track I still play this game every day

BF1 was just a perfect balance between gameplay and immersion. I don’t think you can ever really make a game set in the future this immersive (but they couldn’t have done much worse with BF2042)
Well i think if we are actually predicting the future of warfare, it’s all drones / missiles / nukes. There is little reason for human soldiers to be on the frontlines, as ai and machines can do anything and everything better. The only way to make a game based in the future immersive is something fantastical that enhances human capabilities to surpass ai, to make it seem realistic. A game i think that does this well is detroit: become human, though it takes the perspective of mostly ai, not humans. I can’t personally think of a way to make futuristic games more immersive right now, but i do think game developers as of lately have been increasingly lazy in actually making an immersive, realistic, and consistent game world.
@@Brain_Food- Name me a successful Battlefield that wasn’t immersive because both Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 were very immersive games, even if that wasn’t their main focus

They also copied and pasted that BF1 engine everywhere including Madden, fifa, starwars, dragon age, mirrors edge, anthem, need for speed, NHL which also degraded the Quality of BF1.

Anyone can bounce back eventually. Especially a billionaire company like EA. With enough money and time, they could get anyone they wanted on their crew with amazing talents. The thing they struggle with is they arent patient and only focus on the short term picture.
@@Laurton they definitely have what it takes to make a good battlefield game, especially with what everyone saw in the recent trailers for 2042. They just choose to make it bigger and “better” so it sells more than actually making it last long term

Mindblowing how those are real life players experiencing BF1's unreal atmosphere. You see guys firing their guns and screaming, a madman charging with a horse, a captain going in with a tank and a guy in the air dropping bombs blasting the enemy front line. Real life players just experiencing the horror of war.
Still my favorite Battlefield game. I also feel like the music in this game (primarily the songs that play when the round is coming to an end) isn't talked about enough on how well it just builds the world and perfectly captures the intensity, desperation, heroism, and fear of such a horrifying conflict
This clip, literally can be used for the trailer of battlefield 1 ...you can feel the chaos in that game, the running horse in the middle of war make it more cinematic...
Every time I play BF1 and get into the squad leader role, I'll blow the charge whistle every once in a while just so anyone filming a clip gets that sound
The tracers look amazing and they genuinely make you want to take cover, the sounds of soldiers screaming inside of burning tanks, the landscape getting churned up, the hundreds of voices crying over each other due the the ferocity of an all out assault across no man's land, there was so much implemented into this title that gave it a realistic, dark and dirty atmosphere. Spectacular game. If you can't get the atmosphere correct in a game based on all out war then you've failed. This is the reason games like Hell Let Loose and Insurgency are gaining more and more fans. I've always played games to experience what I can't in reality so the closer to reality that it feels (as best as I can imagine) the better.
I remember when BF1 was the latest BF game, I played A LOT, and they featured some exclusive and official game modes on the main screen of the game, I don't remember all of them but one was No HUD mode with friendly fire and I really got into the game mode, it was truly a cinematic experience
Legendary soundtrack too. One of the best feelings pushing a team back or fighting to save a point in operations. Joining a game with a bunch of randoms you will never see again, but fighting til the last man in what felt like an actual war. In no way was the game perfect, but it captured everything you wanted if you’re a fan.
One of the things I love most about this game is how your gun would get dirty if you go prone in the dirt. This game managed to get us immersed in a level that only few shooters have
One moment from bf1 I will never forget is running to the pom pom gun and taking out a bomber on its run towards me. Brilliant map and gameplay craftsmanship.
I went into this game knowing very little about it. Found it at my used game store for $10 and saw it was highly reviewed. Don’t regret it at all. The action is incredible. I’ve played a lot of army shooters but this one really makes me feel like I’m in a world war, fighting for my life. The devs did an incredible job in making this game feel truly alive. Very happy with my purchase
Imagine being in the middle of a battlefield fighting for your life and you see a horse just jumping everywhere slicing peoples head off. I’d be like “wtf is going onnnnn”

Same, playing with faction/period accurate weapons was so fun, and it made the game more enjoyable even if you weren’t performing that well
Happy to see I'm not the only one that does so, although I do cheat and pretend I'm a soldier that picked a weapon off the ground at some times
Yeah I think it helped with not just the immersion but also with the fun factor! If I was doing bad I didn't care because aiming to be more historically accurate was enjoyable. But woah that's dope that you bought a real MK3 Lee Enfield, it's a truly classic rifle.
Yeah same, i have different loadouts for different nations.
A lot of servers!
Operations in BF1 were the apex of Battlefield's game modes. It easily rivals BC2's rush.
Operations is the reason why I still play BF1. When there's good team balance the matches are always unbelievably intense, it's awesome.
I agree, I have been recently playing bf4 and bf1 back to back and I personally think bf1 is the best bf ever, operations is just so addictive

The reason that commercial was so awesome was because it wasn’t total bs, like the new 2042 trailers
Right from the beta I was hooked on Bf1, God I miss getting actually good games and not half released ones
up there with the War Thunder trailer

There's only two things I hate about it, and that's how massively unbalanced a lot of matches are. The other, across all platforms, are cheaters in varying degrees.
a well-balanced cheaterless BF1 game is god-tier entertainment.
>The other, across all platforms, are cheaters in varying degrees.
What game DOESN'T have a cheater crisis these days lol
@@VValkyr sad isn't it, imagine being that crap at a game that cheating brings you more pleasure than using your own skill to enjoy the experience
@@MrRedeyedJedi Its not always about that. Most cheaters are just simple people that don't really play games, they don't give a shit games, so they install cheats to have fun, maybe trigger a bunch of nerds into seething over video games, and then move on with life next day
@@VValkyr haha, I found one of the cheater losers
It’s one of the best MP games in my opinion, but no anti cheat implemented, you are most likely to find a hacker/cheater in more than half of games you will play. That really ruined my experience
Damn really? Never seen a hacker on 1
@@mattgranger1221 are you playing on pc? If no that might explain it, it’s harder to cheat/hack on consoles I guess
@@Snehta13 you need to find better servers. I'm on pc and have only ever encountered one or two hackers.
@@Ironicelm760 Maybe you're right
The atmosphere and sound is so amazing
funny thing in the video: that freakin horse flying around
epic moment: you laying down under that tree branch, the tank rolling by and getting shot by a an AT rocket gun - just brilliant
