Wonderfully entertaining. By the time I caught up with "Margie" the show was probably in its second syndication run circa 1959-1960. Mrs. Odetts was such a dear on the show.
I remember first seeing this on syndication on Channel 5 WNEW New York back in the late 60s, it was before or after Mr. Ed; don't remember what order though. Truth be told, I've always been a sucker for comedies.
Actually, "I MARRIED JOAN" preceeded "MY LITTLE MARGIE" on NBC's Wednesday night schedule at 8pm(et) from 1953 through '55. The original 1952-'53 closing credits appeared in front of a Philip Morris pack (with the Philip Morris "theme"- Ferde Grofe's "On the Trail"- as the closing music); that's why they were refilmed for syndicated repeats.
Because that's when the syndicated edition of the series was prepared; as previously mentioned, the original closing credits were seen with a Philip Morris pack in the background...they had to be refilmed, along with the credits seen during the 1953-'55 Scott Paper sponsorship {a box of Scotties on the desk, et. al.}.
Originally telecast on October 25, 1952, and sponsored by Philip Morris [note the cigarette pack next to the framed photo at 24:32; Gale Storm had to cultivate a taste for cigarettes to smoke on-camera during the show, the better to accomodate the sponsor].
Wow. I've never even heard of this show! Maybe because they never showed it in reruns for the later generation like they did Bewitched, Hazel, Gidget, Father Knows Best, The Andy Griffith Show, Bachelor Father and Leave It To Beaver...
I do believe that this was 1952, but why do all the MLM prints I see have a 1954 date on them? Was this a syndicated print, and they re-did all the closings in '54? I do see names of guest stars for this, so I don't know. Anybody?
+Tom Dockery -- What has that to do with a 1952 episode of "My Little Margie"? Could you be a bigger horse's rear end? Tronald Dump can go take a flying leap.
love that familiar music, how wonderful, yes a great series, thank you for sharing.

gale storm was beautiful, such grace and beauty, lovely.
Loved this sitcom. I remember that as a child I could recite those lines during the opening credits along with Margie and her father.
Mr. Kinker was the mayor of Mayberry on the Andy Griffith Show. That is why he looks so familiar to us Baby Boomers.
I fondly remember this adorable show. Charming example of fifties tv.
WOW, remember my mom watching this when I was a child. Brings back memories.
I was twelve years old when came out.
one of the best sitcoms of the 1950s
The "Missing Link" would pass as a rock musician today.

1954 was the year the earlier episodes were "remastered" for syndication the following year....with a new copyright date.
