Yugo Sakamoto confirms autism theory!? Yes! twitter.com/JustEvilBrad/status/1730290864134525354?t=Ko5i4uBkX6Th2qjaAeeexw&s=19

You should watch the anime Lycoris Recoil, it is basically Baby Assassins in animated form. The main character's name is even Chisato as well and she's as much of a ditz as this one is.

The last hand to hand action sequence in this movie was amazing and something you would never see in modern Hollywood movies where female fighters are invincible and beat the crap out of larger stronger opponents. The choreography, flow and music was really great. The bodyguard of the Yukaza Boss's Daughter was already established as a one-shot knockout badass in the film. After Mahiro get's disarmed and takes strong blow to the face, she is bloodied and realizing the bodyguard is really strong. She fights hand to hand almost keeping up with the bodyguard but takes serious damage and the situation gets desperate as the music pace of the music quickens. To survive and come out on top she had to use her head (figuratively and literally).
I saw the Baby Assassins 2 and I really liked it as well. It looked like the budget of this sequel was a larger than the first movie hinting the first movie must of done pretty well commercially. There's a TV mini-series coming out as well as a third movie. The trailer and the poster of Baby Assassins 3 looks like it might take a more dark and serious tone (might be intended to be the finale of the Baby Assassins franchise). We'll have to see.

I loved the secret autism idea thought process, as I also think the Mahiro character is the more interesting of the two but I also hope that the sequel goes into more depth for both of them. I could not stop watching both the action scenes and the scenes of Mahiro trying to communicate or being frustrated. The comedy reminds me a bit of Beat Takeshi's cop and gangster films, where he just doesn't care about his foes, so everything is just matter of fact during confrontation scenes.

I am excited for the sequel and I know its impending a western release soon so we hopefully won't be waiting too much longer. I've heard there is more action in the sequel but hopefully they don't abandon too much of the slice of life stuff for it!

@@BradTalksFilmI just saw the pair in another film, A Janitor, also by the same director

    • @BradTalksFilm

@@popburnsy3207 yes, i have seen that one, admittedly after i made this video. A none canon entry of sorts for the two characters. I dont speak japanese so this might not be 100% accurate, but on twitter the director was talking about how this was a project idea he wanted to do for years, so A janitor was sort of a test drive for the two characters, to both see if they worked for him and to see if the audiences responded to them. I feel like, outside of Honda who is really fun in that one, they really are the standouts in the movie, though they are considerably dialed up in comparison to baby assassins

I LOVE the film! Trying to find somewhere to watch the sequel but can't find it streaming anywhere. I think Sakamoto has a great talent for directing action and knowing that action doesn't always mean fighting. Being able to keep a person engaged throughout a film and having actors that are capable of giving
you multiple layers are what makes more than one character relatable to more than one person. When people can relate to more than one character in any production, they will watch it repeatedly because every time they do, they will get a different perspective. And it's why we're still talking about it... love, love, love it and want to see BA2 ASAP!!!

Its so true, I think he is a very thoughtful director/writer. since making this video I have noticed and gleamed even more brilliant details. especially about the dream sequence at the start. Ill explore more when the second gets here and i can make a video about it, because i think i have a fun thematic angle to explore. Here are the 2 things i know for certain. 1. its getting official DVD release in the west in April and 2. Wellgo are involved. I wouldn't be shocked to see it on Hi-Yah by June. I watched it online with bad subs so i'm waiting for this official release to rewatch BA2

The sequel is out. It has more action with the same humor and awkwardness. Baby Assassins is a cult classic in the making. I find it similar to the anime Mezzo Forte, which I also liked minus the nudity.

I don't know how I've never heard of this movie earlier (0 0) These two girls felt so authentic that I wondered if I was watching a portrayal of fictional characters.

They did interviews where they both have said the director let them put a lot of themselves into the roles to make it more natural! It really paid off.

Expectations can make a huge difference to enjoying a film. Michael B Jordan did a coming of age movie about a young boy that finds a powerful sci fi rifle. The trailer makes it look like an all out action film but it was actually a coming of age story. If you were expecting all out action you might have been disappointed by it.

Definitely, watching a second time with the right expectations really helped but the whole thing into perspective!

I had the exact same reaction to this movie. I went in thinking it was an action movie (the trailer is really edited toward that idea) and then I discovered the slacker film I never knew I was needing. I loved it and have watched it three times now. i can't wait until they release the sequel. And I noticed they make an appearance in the movie The Janitor, though I didn't actually see their faces but the blonde hair of Mahiro.

    • @BradTalksFilm
      @BradTalksFilm  6 месяцев назад +1

Yeah, Hiyah cut a strange trailer. They had the actors react to it and even they were like "really? This much action in the trailer?"
As for A Janitor, my understanding is that was the director testing how the characters would work. Seems like they were characters he always wanted to make and finally got his chance!
Not long till 2 comes out on digital now, I look forward to making an inevitable video

@@markphillips7538 Technically no, they actually have different characted names, they were essentially screen test characters i guess. An archetype he likes. He has said publicly a few times that he loves that kind of character. So janitor is not canon. BA 3 however i believe has already finished filming!
