"How YOU doin'?" lolol, sorry I couldn't resist... This was another really cool vid from Darrell Nutt. It clearly demonstrates that it is a very small and elite world, this music world. And the cream most definitely rises to the top! Fun to hear about the behind the scenes workings and pair ups. Fun to feel the intermittent comedy cracks. The characters in the show were about my age and at similar life stages; and because almost all the pieces recall (for me, anyway) the styles and vibes of the most popular music we listened to in the 70s and 80s, it helped me kind of identify with the stuff being depicted in the show -- albeit much more wittily and stylishly😉😆. Thanks again!

I also noticed that a lot of the motifs are soundalikes of various bands/artists, e.g. Pavement, Violent Femmes, Sting, etc. I once had an idea that I’d do a covers band of just the Friends transition music. Still think it would be a good idea 😅

Very cool Rachel! I was looking for footage of LA sessions and I'm not sure if Nathan played on any FRIENDS music but I felt it was "wrong" to cut him out of the shot! Ha!

I agree. very underestimated fantastic music. I am still searching these tracks without voices. edit: I was so enthusiastic finding this video un my search for the Friends transitions music. A bit of a disappointment there is nothing about the music in this video. It is just naming people. To be honest I find it totally not interesting to hear with which people these guys played. I just don't care. I value the musicians for their transition music for friends. I really don't care who knows who and who played with who on other projects. It says nothing compared to just listening to the great tracks made for friends.
I'm saddened that you were disappointed by my video. However, the video is titled The Studio Musicians of Friends and that was my main interest. Who played on these recording sessions and what else have they done? I feel that I have achieved my goal here. You can find the individual songs on youtube but many are pulled from the video and have sfx and talking.
I feel like this was a really well presented, edited and articulated video and I thank you for making it. But, respectuflly, for 9 minutes I was hoping for more than basically 9 minutes of dropping names of people I don't know and never will. I was hoping to maybe hear a little more indepth about the actual music itself, where the initial ideas came from, what influenced the style, how it developped over the years etc.

@@DarrellNutt I don't have a reference but some years ago I read an interview with Mike who had just released a CD with his band Seventh Key. They were filling in his history and said something to the effect; Mike does a lot of work for movies and TV such as the little bits of music you hear on Friends.
