  • Self-test for diastasis recti
The most common mistake women make when performing the Diastasis Recti Test is to lift their head & shoulders before applying pressure, thus contracting the Rectus muscle before you start. This will give an inaccurate result. It's important to keep your head & shoulders relaxed on the floor, then apply pressure with your fingertips as you raise you head very slightly from the floor.
If your post-baby belly 'pooches' or domes, if you have a weak or sore lower back, DR could be an issue - find out more here!

I have a round and hard abdomen when I stand up. When I just tested myself for diastasis recti I could not feel either side of abdominals coming over my fingers. It was soft and squishy and painful to press. So I’m wondering if this MUTU SYSTEM would even help me . It’s been three years since I gave birth and I’m just now finding out (from a doctor) what is wrong with me. My ob/gyn wouldn’t even look at my stomach at my six week checkup. I asked her why wasn’t it going down and she just said she didn’t know and she’ll see me again in a year.

Hey Marlena. Thanks for your comment. MUTU can help with strengthening your core and pelvic floor but we'd advise that you see a women's health physical therapist (physiotherapist) who will be able to take a look at you for diastasis recti and determine where you are at. Pain in your abdomen needs to be check out and a specialist women's health PT would be the right person as the first point.
