Another Tip: Oblivion the center of your mountain peak, re-add another mountain to it and you get the resources from making it a mountain peak a 2nd time :D
Retro, the game doesn't really explain it so I'll help out: The "Camp Item Slot" thing doesn't affect your gameplay at the moment. Once you craft a specific building then it comes into play. I'm trying to not spoil it since I know that you don't want excessive backseating.
One thing that can help with resources is that since cementeries and groves give resources when you walk through them, removing other monsters generators to make these more common can help a lot
Staggering villages is a good idea since they heal you. This way you can place more wheat fields and not have too many boosted quest monsters around. Also recommend only using the vampire mansions to upgrade them one at a time in chapter 2
Quality of life thoughts : Putting battlefield next to wheat field is soft synergy as the scarecrow don’t have souls and can’t become ghost, you can also put two graveyard in there and if the wheat field was placed before it doesn’t spawn the blood clot. On the camp screen next to each upgradable slot there is a red symbol that become green when you have enough ressources to upgrade the slot. Is a goblin camp spawn next to a wheat field, you could consider keeping it there as scarecrow deal damage to other ennemies. If you plan on keeping the road lantern out of your deck, you should take another look at the damage to all gear cause it really does the job. Loving this series, you made me completely addicted to this game and I’m here for it!
I just wish there was more of this series so I could binge it all evening. I haven't been this excited about a new series of yours since Ziggurat 2! Loving all the good work!
One thing you could try is placing the mountains in a 5x5 (leaving the middle hollow) and the normal rocks in the middle. Those normal rocks turn into the peak then. That way you don't waste any mountains on building the peak and have ideal adjacency for the mountains.
One way of collecting resourses and keeping challenge up, you can try to farm in Act 1 - if you get to boss early and feel like you want more resources and challenge you can continue looping. This is based on my demo experience: got boss spawned on loop 7 but continued to loop 11 (filled map competelly) and oh boy during last loop there is challenge in every single slot 😅
I know I'm late to the video but I think when you upgraded the base at the end, that "carry extra items" part was talking about the extra health pots you can carry now
Love the series. Keep on playing however you want to play the game. You can never satisfy everyone and we choose to watch you, so we should respect how you want to play. Keep up the good work!
In order to see if you can upgrade a certain building just look at the arrow sign on the building: if it's red you don't have the materials and if it's green you have them. Cheers!
Hey if you're going for the vampire + village combo, you can use road lanterns to make it way easier to live through the early loops by reducing the amount of ghouls from 4 to 3 or even 2. This seems like it would really help on chapter 2 especially, that looks brutal. And with great placement you can even do two vampire villages and come out alive, at least on chapter 1. But I dont know how well this would work on chapter 2. Beacons and road lanterns are both worth considering though, there are some pretty good synergies with them.
A really good tip he doesn't consider is waiting to place villages until they stagger for a loop. Place one loop 1 (or 2 if it takes a while, RNG is rough) Place the next Loop 2 Place none Loop 3 if your difficulty is higher, place another if you've got good gear Loop 4 your first one will reconstruct (I try to make this the middle one of the three) Loop 5 you only have one to worry about Loop 6 you have basically a full-heal if you make it this far before spawning the boss enemy.
Goblins don't seem too bad by themselves, but they combo with other things really nastily. High evade + high attack speed + natural boss-mob spawn gets nasty real quick with a slime's -defense or a vampire's lifesteal. Maybe leaving a goblin camp that spawns off by itself can be good loot farm, but it's a high priority to oblivion when near literally anything else? Can still get unlucky with a slime spawn though.
Switching all your items to Evasion with Article of Protection DEVASTATES the lich. Your run is pretty much over at that point unless your only creature spawns are gargoyles or other like, single entity mobs, but the Lich really can't fight you anymore.
That is true, but the villages get the same effect either way as both still have wheat fields on both sides. In effect, villages spaced farther apart just need more total wheat fields placed for the same amount of healing boost, so it just depends whether you want more scarecrows or less.
Great series! I’ve really been enjoying it! I’d love to see you use that level ability for storing resources in the camp. Possibly leveling up the herbalist allows you to store more there? May be nice to play with and see if you can bring back more materials even when you die :) haven’t played myself so just a theory!
You can put the villages two apart and put a field on either side of them and it counts for both. The fields benefit everything connected to them through other fields or villages. So if you had Field Village Field Field Village Field both would get the benefit of all 4 fiels.
Wheat Fields are also a good counter to Goblin Camps. Scarecrows usually don't hurt the Goblins enough to trigger Rage but lower them enough to avoid too much of it. You also no longer spawn slimes in in that space to see what Reto dealt with on this video's first run. You do have to save a Village for it, though.
This TedTalk brought to you by overthinking caused at 36:19 when Retro picked up a Lvl.8 white chestpiece, with Hp at 50% and being past his camp with 0 health potions. So the thought "is MaxHp that valuable?" occurred. I'm thinking that MaxHp on the chestpiece doesn't matter much, it seems like a "stat stick" really because if you can't get up to that MaxHp having extra MaxHp is mostly worthless, especially because the main heals (Vampirism, Hp Regen, & Hp per Day) do not seem to scale based on your MaxHp. The only thing I have seen scale with MaxHp is the soul shield trait & your camp potions, but I feel like stats besides MaxHp on your chestpiece may help you sustain in fighs way better in the long run. Just don't go crazy and keep lvl.1 legendary chestpiece when all your other gear is lvl.6 or something.
@@bowman5846 I suppose that could be helpful in some niche situations, but I think I'd still rather prefer sustain. Also, I forgot about the heal you get from passing over the campfire, I believe it is a 10% or 20% heal so more MaxHp is more useful for that.
you could consider doing act 1 again for farming resources, you might get 40% less but the fights will be much easier so you can go on longer. up to you tho there's benefits in both.
So I bought this game and have been playing the demo as I wait for the release, and I think I figured something out. At some point, your max HP doesn't matter anymore, especially if you have amazing evade or vampirism. What do you think?
There are many things that depend on your max hp, from healing at camps to some traits like the phantom armor (whatever it was called) so maxhp never stops mattering specially as difficulty ramps up.
Because of the unmentioned stamina system (it's a grey bar), evasion isn't an absolute meta against hordes. Against the Ch1 Lich, it is the ideal option, but when your stamina is empty, your attack speed is lowered by an amount I'm not sure of, and your evasions cannot happen until you have enough stamina. Counter is also reduced while Stamina is low.

Personally I prefer placing one block over to a Wheat Field. You still get Goblins this way, but only 3 and the Scarecrow will help you kill them. You also get much more equipment this way. Absolutely. I think I went hard on Counter my first attempt, but Counter doesn't really work because...well...you still take the hit. Ergo, Evasion!
The Village placement seems strange
If you separate them by 2 instead of 1 you get twice the amount of Wheat Fields you're able to place, right?

You should do a run where you try to put spider caves next to wheat fields, so that the scarecrows kill the spiders when they attack you.
