Fun fact: both this mission here in the game and Top Gun Maverick are inspired by a real life mission during WWII where the RAF had to do a bombing run through a valley in W. Germany, using Mosquito bombers, in order to hit a dam.
The mission was a success & also inspired the attack on the Death Star in the original Star Wars movie.
Love this mission. As a ground pounder in my military days it feels good to hear the troops on the ground getting shit done even in a flying game. To often the ground forces are useless without you. It is nice they didn't have to ask you to shoot a missile through a window.
Also find this mission humorous because no one heard these jets screaming though the canyon. It truly is Strangereal.
Maybe they're unmanned searchlights. Or maybe everyone in Erusia is deaf as shit
@@joaogomes9405 considering the set up defenses, the cost of putting half a dozen people alongside these lights would cost almost nothing. It simply doesn't make sense. It's good for playing with an airplane in a war simulation though.

The New Top Gun really highlights the challenges of the pilots during such missions. If the Gs in a canyon run is that stressful, imagine fighting Hugin and Munin or Mister X
maverick is just an AC protagonist but his blood is affected by gravity
The canyon run part of the mission kicked my ass.
Right after you hit waypoint 3 and pass the searchlights the left, right, left, right section got me over and over and over.
If I went too high I'd hit a rain cloud and my canopy iced up and I couldn't see.
If I went low the rocks would all blend together and I'd hit the wall.
I just did it first time and first time ever playing an ace combat. The second part the bombing of the place its what's being difficult for me.
@@mrgreen027 took me 7 attempts since i keep lagging and crashing, 8th and final attempt didnt lag as much and that was the last attempt before i finished the mission lol.
try the one mission in ace combat joint assault in which you fly a 747 through a canyon, while being shot at by every single enemy.

That was the narrowest canyon I've seen since AC1, known in the U.S. as Air Combat for the PS1.

Am I the ONLY one who loves this mission due to the stealth portion? I swear it's challanging but it's FUN. I usually try to stay low in the canyon and go fast to dodge the lights.

This reminds me of that one mission back in Ace Combat 6, where Talisman and Shamrock flew in low between a valley to take out some WMD that would've been used on Gracemeria.
Pretty sure it's tradition at this point, flying a bomber to destroy ICBM's in both Assault Horizon and Infinity and I expect it to be in Zero,4 and 5 cuz I haven't played them yet.....I know I'm ashamed of it
Also this mission is similar to One Night Stad from AC2/ACAHL
Low altitude flying in valley has been there since AC, even AC3 International version has that mission. Of course, tunnel flying too
The thing that confuses me can't the guys operating the search lights hear the jet engines pass them i know it is a game but i can hear when jet fighters pass over me when the are at least over 500 meters above me
it's not a completely realistic style game. So you're given some liberty on the story design and enemies would respond.
They don't hear or feel the jet blasting past them at mach 2 but they spot the stealth craft on their radar as soon as it goes past 501 meters in altitude. Because why logic

They probably think those aircraft are theirs since they're stationed near an airbase. Probably they can see the Osean markings when you pass through their searchlights

Very good plane and lacm worked perfect for me, just gotta take out the jets and dodge quickly cause when they come after you. Thanks and thumbs up got it first try on normal

I used the F-15C Strike Eagle if that is correct with the SFFS. S-ranked the mission too.

AC has a weird effect on me. Whenever I am dogfighting with some tough enemy, I get all focused and stuff. Then, when I manage to get a blow on them, I start laughing.

Personal log: September 16 2019 (32 hours after the Alicorn sunk): We're almost ready to attack Farbanti. The only thing to do first is capture cape rainy base. Won't be hard, we can handle it we'll fly to the canyon then, we strike with all we've got.
This mission is similar to liberating the sachhana airbase in Ace combat X .

Theres that point where the Su-35s show up and everytime they take me down within 10 seconds with a barrage of missiles that i just cant seem to avoid.
