    Hey Jill! Love rewatching these videos. So i was hoping you could help me out a bit. Theres a girth that reminds me of an anatomic girth at 3:33 of the video. Do you remember where you got that or the brand of it? If you dont, do you have any nice inexpensive girths that work well with jumping horses? I figured you have way more experience with different brands and I want my tack to give full movemtn to my girl so that she is comfortable with everything. Tysm!

    Yay for baby bird rescue! They looked like fledglings which is why they were on the ground. We rescue baby birds often (thanks to our cats) and the whole thing about touching a baby animal will make the parents reject it is beyond false. The smell of their baby is a lot stronger than your hands touching it. People just say that so other people won't go around "saving" every baby animal they see

    Do you have any advice for a horse who hates fly spray? Like she will not stand still for the life of her, its like she was tortured with fly spray or hoses or something that sprays.I honestly don't know how to make her okay with it.

    • @evaneilan7359
      @evaneilan7359 7 лет назад +1

      Lady Bug Spray it onto a sponge and rub her down with it to get the spray on.
      Then to desensitise her, get a spray bottle with water in it and start to spray it around her, everyday bring it closer to her feet then work up from the legs xx
      Hope it helps ❤️

    My new horse is exactly like Zoe ( only from what I saw so I don't know if it was just me it was only that she looked quite strong sorry if i offended you )in this only much more strong because she doesn't like to trot into poles or jumps and is constantly not able to stop do you have any tips I've only got her so I'm still not that strong but it will build she's only 5 so quite young I only jump her twice a week is that enough? And I haven't jumped her over 80cm yet

    • @JETEquiTheory
      @JETEquiTheory  7 лет назад

      riding isn't about strength and you shouldn't have to be pulling to get through the exercises! I would only jump 2x a week if I were running upper levels and really needed to but other than that flat work and conditioning is where you build the horses strength and hind end for jumping; id just take it slow and try to relax and give, holding and bracing only make the horse feel trapped and like they need to bolt. so try trot poles on as loose a rein as you can and give your hands forward until you both realize its not something to fret over. for zo her issue with getting "hot" was because she couldn't breathe properly (see "hair analysis" parts one and two for details there) and after resolving that, she's so quiet and calm no more panicking!

    Toe out? I was always taught not to do that. What is your coaches reason if I may ask?

    • @JETEquiTheory
      @JETEquiTheory  7 лет назад +1

      check out the description (; also to add onto what I had already said, i turn mine in really bad so thinking turn them out keeps my leg on as zo is very narrow. if you watch my leg my toes are never extremely out. just thinking turn them out keeps them straight and my lower leg on not curling my ankle in!

    why is your trainer saying toes out, I have always been taught to keep my toes in to keep riding neat. When you turn your toes out you rest on the heavier part of your thigh, is it an encouragement to keep you leg on while jumping?

    • @JETEquiTheory
      @JETEquiTheory  7 лет назад

      I have a problem of turning mine in so telling me to turn them out keeps mine straight, I believe I detailed that a bit in the description!

  • @nataliekelley801
    @nataliekelley801 7 лет назад

    Does anyone have any advice? I have started riding one of my instructor' s new horses and whenever I post the inside of my knee, under my kneecap keeps hitting the hard part above the knee roll and I have a large reddish purplish bruise. I am going to get some new riding pants tomorrow since I have been riding in leggings. It is mostly on my left one so I am aware that it could be how I sit but I only get to ride once a week

    • @RidewiththeWind
      @RidewiththeWind 7 лет назад

      Natalie Kelley yeah! You could both work on new things and learn together! It could also be not having knee patches as well but idk! I hope that helped!!

    • @JETEquiTheory
      @JETEquiTheory  7 лет назад

      Natalie Kelley definitely ask your coach about it. it sounds like the saddle just doesnt fit you

    • @nataliekelley801
      @nataliekelley801 7 лет назад

      Also, (could be the way I sit) there is one area in the arena where she tends to get wiggly and try to turn to the outside while going counterclockwise...

    The moms of the baby birds where I live will force the babies out of their nests. The moms take care of them from the ground. They almost always survive unless one the horses squishes them. We learned to stop putting them back in their nests. I don't know if theyre the same type of birds, but just thought I'd let you know that COULD be why.
