The plagiarism was about clothes, hair color, background colors. Ridiculous stuff because BTS was beating out groups from the three largest music companies and this had never happened before. BTS rose to fame without the push and money from a large label and this was unacceptable. Even now that BTS is more global, the American music industry (Billboard, Grammys, Rolling Stone) do not like BTS and do lots of underhanded tricks to keep them out. BTS’s label refuses to play or pay, so the American music industry can’t make money off of BTS’s success. That too is unacceptable.
There is no mention that at the same time sll this was happening all the injuries illnesses and exhaustion from constant work without breaks, and in Vs case his grandmother who he was raised by died and he was deeply grieving he had to deal with death threats. The youngest 3 were still in school at debut. They were so young. We watched them trying to work out how to get a day or half day off. We watched them get through it all because of the affectionate love, support and laughter between them.
You are right a lot of artists forget where they come from but If you had followed BTS from the start then you will realized that they continue to be humble and remember their roots. In South Korea the loss of reputation is far worse than the threat of violence. Whether you're famous or just an average person if your reputation becomes even slightly damaged the consequences are severe. Disowned by family, loss of job, friends & much more. In SK your reputation is everything.
Korea has a cancel culture even bigger than the US, bigger than you can imagine. Idols have to have a perfect reputation. Idols will get in trouble or even kicked out if there are photos of them smoking a cigarette while a rookie or young. Kpop group fans of one group always hate fans of other groups. Just like sports fans!! The kpop world is like professional sports, just without the weekly sporting events! Imagine BTS is like a football team and their rival teams hate them.

When you commented about Jungkook crying, I think you forget that he started at age 13 and they debuted when he was 15 so for many of the years, he was a teenager which is a very emotional time. Also the comments about the death threats, the threats were made here in the US, this is where the xenophobia comes in, it wasn't people in Korea and their fans aren't all of Asian descent. 3:45 it's not common for western men to cry. I was married for 30 years and never saw my husband cry until a year before his death. It should be common & more accepted out here. The usual military service dates are age 18 to 28 at start. This issue really blew up when the online gaming team won an international competition and earned military exemptions. BTS's agency didn’t join in when the idol exemptions were requested, but when the 2-year delay to permit enlisting up to age 30 was enacted, BTS was the only group that met the criteria of having received cultural awards. I can't say whether the members are learning life lessons that they can bring to their music. But I can say that the group picture taken of them the night of Jin's discharge was really illuminating. RM looked so relaxed, like he hasn't been in years, so much weight off his shoulders. Yoongi looked about 14 years old also. Their military service is that much less stressful than the work of being BTS.

If you Google them you can learn more. In South Korea gaming export revenue is higher than from Kpop, which is why their government rewarded the team. What’s crazy is that the hate bts gets has worsened in recent years, I mean just this year, it’s like Korea turned on them and the kpop community has grown to hate bts even more, they got cult accusations just a few months ago and Korean media published many articles spreading fake news of bts and their label mates being in a cult, bts got death threats even after they were in the military, when they had covid a few years ago the kpop community wished terrible things upon them, every week I see hit tweets other fandoms make basically hating on a bts member, just a few days ago another kpop fandom’s groupchat got exposed for planning to trend a terrible hashtag on Twitter and spreading rumors, 2 days ago a Japanese outlet posted a clip of RM that Japanese neo n@zi’s hate and many fandoms were bashing bts when all bts did was defend their country from the men that called Koreas tradition clothing “comfort women clothing” which is a very nasty thing to say due to the history between Japan and Korea. Also a few months ago, it was discovered that Min Heejin (a ceo of one of the subsidiaries under Hybe) dislikes bts and wanted them to enlist as soon as possible so that they would go down and so would their company Hybe. She wanted her group to replace bts and even contacted bts’s accountant when she has no business doing that. During her feud with Hybe, bts received lots of hate online and articles were written painting bts in a bad light. They received chart manipulation accusations again and their success was being questioned once again. A rumor even went around that an investigation on bts would happen again and if proof was found that this happened then their cultural merit award would be taken away, this turned out to be a false rumor.
They are still mistreated everywhere still even though they are in the military. Other fans don't like that the boys are still ahead of there group. They don't understand that the boys love the ARMY so much that they prerecorded a bunch of content prior to leaving. We miss our boys very much and I cannot wait for the new record from Jimin this Friday. Then in August Jimin and Jungkook will release their travel show on Disney plus. But I love watching your BTS content and I hope you do more.

Per the military conversation: 1) They ARE at war. The war between North and South Korea is still ongoing, despite the lack of skirmishes. This is why South Korea mandates that all able bodied men have to be trained by the military. 2) They have to enlist by age 28 (if my info is correct) unless they are exempt as a medal winning athletes (including e-sports) and certain artists who have contributed to the country in some way. The new law stated that entertainers who have received cultural merit awards may postpone their enlistment until age 30. At the time, this only applied to BTS.

All able bodied males 18-28 have to serve at least 18 months in the military or 21 months in an administrative position if something physically impedes you from serving in the regular army (prior surgeries, etc). The new law extended entrance into the military to age 30, but only for those who hsd been given the culture of merit award which so far only BTS has earned. That’s why the other companies complained, because none if their groups have earned it and are not likely to. 😎💜
About all looking the same: When I saw BTS for the first time (a good year ago), apart from RM, they all looked the same to me. Maybe not the same, but very much alike. And I had difficulties telling them apart, (and the constant change of hair collor wasn't helping). And now that I've got to know them better, they all look very different to me and I can't understand that I was thinking they all looked pretty much the same before 😃

I don't know if someone already talk about this, but about the T-shirt, the extremist was against BTS. But the problem was about the Court's decision to make Japan pay indemnisation to the victims of forced work (I don't really know how you say in english, but for koreans who were force to work in Japan during the War). BTS was just an excuse to lash out against Korea. A Japan journalist who is an ARMY was surprise to learn that BTS were facing accusation of being "anti-Japan" and "N*zi". He surch and found the mention of the T-shirt and explain in an article that it may be shoking for western people, but that for Korean the liberation from the Japan imperialism is related with the bombing. The two are related, but in any way the Korean celebrate the death of more than 80 000 people, they celebrate their freedom. (Like in France we celebrate de 14 july for the revolution, despite all the death that came with it. We celebrate the freedom, not the fact that people were killed unfairly. I think it may be the same for the independance day in America). The accusations spread and was distort by many international media who didn't really search into it before following the accusation of *N*zism", so ARMY step in writing the "White Paper Project" to explain in the most neutral way all the events, and putting in light the mistakes that medias made. For the misogynist accusation, it was for the song "War of Hormone" and it was due to a bad translation. The lyrics were "Women are an equation, we have to do them", making think that you have to slep with them, they are object, a thing. But it was in fact "Women are an equation, we have to resolve them", saying that you have to understand women to get close to them. The family names in korea came from the clans that existed at a time, so there is only few names : Kim, Park, Min... so it means people with the same name at some point, were in the same clan, centuries ago.

The hate from other fandoms and antis was and still is to a point, relentless.... certain groups did not want BTS to succeed... the industry got little from them because they were not part of the big 3 agencies... not being able to control BTS became a problem for many.. so they would get death threats and their concerts would be cancelled for safety (for everyone, not just the group) Eventually more security was added so that the concerts could continue. Fortunately these threats were mostly baseless, but it interrupted and disappointed the group and Army... which was what the intention was.
Since I was present in these events and faced them with army forcefully... I will tell you some of these harmful characters 22:41 😂They are talking here about fans of a group called EXO.. 23:02 And here.. they are talking about a band called Big Bang 😂 24:35 These are also EXO fans 33:24 This band, for which BTS was excluded and the music programs were manipulated for their sake, is a band called Blackpink 😂

The misogynistic lyrics they were talking about are from a song War of Hormones, where they sing about young guys feelings (they were all between 17 and 24 at the time). To me as a woman the song is cute and depicts honestly what guys are feeling in highschool. Like the lyrics that bothered most people were : "girls are like equations, guys just do them" , but the most accurate translation from korean would be "guys solve them", and it doesn't have the same connotation. So compared to US music, imagine those lyrics being a huge issue lol. Also, the death threats were for concerts in New York, Forth Worth and Mexico, so I'm pretty sure the people making those threats were not korean. South Korea has very very strict gun laws, so no they don't have the issues you mentioned. You made me curious what scandalous things you said that you cut a part of this video 😅 And we know about black lives matter even if we're not in the US. But at the time people didn't know and supported the cause.
War of hormone is a tongue in cheek humorous songs depicting boys going through puberty and the feelings/changes they go through. Like the song isn't serious at all nor is the tone of it serious. They had lines like "women are the biggest gift" "they're national treasure" or something along those lines😭😭😭💀 I'm still so bitter that we'll probably never get war of hormone performed live like the song slaps soooo hard. They haven't done a performance since 2016ish if I'm not misremembering sighhhh

So the kind of mistreatment and in disrespect is still ongoing now recently there was a campaign launched by an ex company employee who wants to take BTS down because she thinks if she can take them down she can take the company down to and take over is subsidiary of bts's record label so she started a rumors that BTS was in a cult and the Korean media took it and ran but luckily the x executive is really stupid because she wrote about her sabotage plan in many emails to other company members and the the label found out about it because it was on her laptop that they gave her ! Also just so you know the death threats that they received at the time was not from Korea it was from America and and surrounding countries. you are right some people do forget where they come from but BTS is not one of those. Korean men do have facial hair, but for many it only covers their mustache and chin areas, some their jawline as well, though not as thickly as westerners. BTS shaves it all off as that is whst the udol look requires. They do have very smooth, youthful features, but we’ve seen V let it grow a little a couple of times on his live streams. Korean men can look very young even at middle age, so it’s not so weird to see them have baby faces in their 20’s-30’s. 💜

Almost everybody got on the BTS hate train. They had a lot of competitors. And they didn’t go thru the “proper channels”…. Korean culture relies heavily on trending news, & sensationalized tid bits about movie stars & those in entertainment. Often their local news stations latch on, & keep the heresay going….. much like ours in the US do now, & resembles what we used to refer to as gossip rags…like the INQUIRER, even TMZ… not dissing my beloved Korea, but pointing out cultural differences in our medias. South Korea still has compulsory military service. All able men between 18-28 are required to do 18-24 months of service. Time of service is dependent on the branch of military they choose to serve in. BTS recieved a cultural merit medal from the government. This gave them the privilege of postponing military service until age 30. Jin went in at 30, J-Hope Rm and Suga went in at approximately 29. Tae and Jimin was 27. Then Jungkook went in at 25. They will all be done June of 2025.
- The accusations of misogyny were mainly about two short tweets of RM covering US rap songs with slang that did not "translate" well culturally speaking and their song War Of Hormone. As a western woman I have absolutely no problem with the song which is so clearly an ironic look into the mind of a teenage boy. And it's a total banger btw. - Apologising is very much a cultural thing in SK where reputation is extremely important to the point that you can get sued for defamation even if you're telling the truth if it's deemed to have been said with malicious intent/to intentionally cause harm. - Do sh__tings occur around the world? Sure, they do, but it's a waaay more prevalent problem in the US. And most of the threats made against them have been either from or in the US. - Tbh I think most non-US citizens do know about the scammy side of BLM by now but BTS donated in good faith to support a message they believe in and that's what matters. They always have and always will donate to and support good causes. They've never forgotten where they came from and are still as humble and grateful as ever. - You're totally right that much like in the West certain companies run the K-pop industry. They're also known as "the big three": SM, YG and JYP. Big Hit, now under the main company name Hybe, has far surpassed them in terms of money however they don't have the same "ol' boy connections" in the media and they have always refused to buy their way to the top. - Don't be mistaken - all of this BS is still going on to this day. There have been so many more incidents of blatant hate and disrespect since this video was made. And also, these are just a few examples, the tip of a very large iceberg. - Haters will even go after prominent private ARMYs as well: Filing false copyright claims, doxcing, targeted cyber attacks, d_ath threats, etc. simply for promoting BTS on social media. And much like the then multi-fandom Break Wings Project antis will often pose as ARMYs and behave really badly and/or aggressively online to discredit the fandom and ultimately BTS themselves. While it's inevitable that there are some rotten apples in a fandom this big it's definitely a point worth keeping in mind. - I very highly recommend you check out the RUclips channel Boracity Magazine. She has some great videos about the US music industry and their scummy tactics as they relate to BTS and in general, such as BTS vs Spotify, BTS vs Radio etc. They're very well done and very eye opening.
The various groups are friends its their fans see BTS as denying their idols awards because BTS were winning them all. For instance winning all 4 grand prizes at the MAMAS and MMAs. BTS has continuously given back as a company as a group, and as individuals.

18 to 28 is the ages, BTS had until 30 to go in. The younger members went in early so they could be back as a group in 2025. They serve 18 to 24 months. They are still at war with N. Korea they never signed a treaty only a armistice so they have to be ready.

No one should be treated harshly for their reaction to something new or different. I'm so sorry you had to deal with hateful comments from people for your opinions. That is definitely NOT how true ARMY would would or should respond. Unfortunately, like any fandom, there are people who are toxic. Again, they are NOT representing BTS well and are a part of the problem in why many reactors tend to stay away from BTS. Unfortunately, as you can see from the Hardhips video ARMY tends to be very protective of the guys because we know the struggles they have had to deal with. But, it is not right for anyone to respond with hateful or rude comments. There are many who pretend to be ARMY only for the purpose of slamming reactors so they stay away from BTS. It's disgusting and bot behavior. There is a great video called "How BTS ARMY changed fandom culture." Is very enlightening. I provided the link below. And, it is important to do what you want and react to what you want on your channel. Don't feel like you have to become a BTS only channel. Military service is mandatory in South Korea not because it teaches young men good skills and character but because North Korea and South Korea are still technically at war with each other. North Korea could literally attack at any time and South Korea has to be ready with as many trained soldiers as they can in case that were to happen. While I don't know if I necessarily agree with making military mandatory I do think here in the US many people take for granted the many men and women who have served or are currently serving our country. I have a feeling if it were made mandatory in the US people would be using every excuse in the book to try to get out of it. And thank you for your service.
@@sc33h3o3 In the US? Men have always had to sign up for selective service after turning 18. It just hasn't had to be implemented since I believe the 1970's because we have enough men and women who voluntarily serve. But obviously that could change at any time and they could activate the draft again if need be.

My personal experience is that, as an American, I originally couldn't tell one BTS member from another, but now I question why I had so much trouble, because CLEARLY they look very different from each other. However....it does make it difficult to tell people apart, no matter what your culture is, when they all sport the same dress and hairstyles, and have much less genetic diversity (ie: similar body styles and facial structures) unlike Americans or Europeans who have very diverse genetic makeups. Often new kpop stans will look for clues such as "the guy with the purple hair" but in the next video that same guy has a different hair color. (In my family, all the females look alike and others have trouble telling us apart. Sometimes I have to look twice to figure out which of my daughters I'm looking at. It's just genetics.)
Definitely so much of the ‘criticism’ was indeed nit-picking. BTS was a target but there was seriously nothing to actually hate on, so the tiniest most meaningless thing was manipulated into a ‘controversy’. Also, most of the death threats were in the US, although one was also for a concert in Mexico.
the misogynistic accusations came because of a song called ''war of hormones'', many accused the lyrics of being misogynistic and objectifying women. the argument was where the lyrics objectifying and misogynists or just a song made by horny young men, i personally dont think the lyrics where misogynistic but in bad taste and a bit weird in modern lenses. but they have made it a mission to change and be more mindful of women's views, and thats amazing growth and has stayed prevalent
To me the song perfectly represented how teenage boys who are "warring with their hormones" would react and think. It's like if they had no filter and blurted out their awkward and hormonal thoughts which I feel was the point.personally, I found it hilarious from the beginning

OK, I will cut you a pass on the complaint about Korean names sounding similar. There are only 300 or so different family names in Korea; 20% of the population in south Korea are named Kim (like 3 of the BTS guys, who aren't related at all). Add in Park, Lee, Choi names and you are close to 50% of the population. In group TxT, 3 out of 5 members are named Choi. I heard that a TV show invited BTS Park JiMin and got a female actress with the same name instead. On the other hand, once you fall in love with these guys, the fan name chant should just roll right off your tongues: Kim Namjoon! Kim Seokjin! Min Yoongi! Jung Hoseok! Park Jimin! Kim Taehyung! Jeon Jungkook! BTS!

@@mplahke last name/family name/surname, it's all the same thing. Except in South Korea it's the opposite. When someone is called Kim Namjoon, his name is Namjoon and not Kim. Kim is his surname/family name/last name (even if they put it at the front, before their name). I can see how it can be confusing for some people...
Here when you say your name is Samantha Lee, Samantha is your name and Lee your surname/family name/last name. In South Kore when you say Kim Namjoon is your name. Namjoon is your name and Kim is your surname/family name/last name. Just remember that it's the opposite than wath it is in Western countries, that makes it easier to understand it.
Do Koreans or Asians shoot up events?? No. Strict gun laws. I remember the threats against Jimin. I saw an IG post of a white woman in new York holding an AK47 and talking about killing Jimin. So... in that case the murderer was in the house (Jimin/BTS appearing in Fort Worth, TX). I don't know who made the previous threats toward RM, but it was while they were on tour in NY and Mexico.
In South Korea they traditionally have 288 family (clan) names which is the name they say first... eg. Kim, Park, Lee, Min.. that is why so many of them share the same surname and why names sound so similar. In BTS 3 of them have the surname Kim and yet are not related, their families originated in the Kim clan and all the people of that clan were known by that name and the name is passed down and now in modern times used as the surname.
you were asking some about Asian gun violence. Every country is very different, but in Korea guns are very illegal and hard to access. Even police officers don't need to carry guns often and when they do it is very very controlled down to the bullet. Sadly, the vast majority of death threats BTS receive are when they are travelling in America. Because of American gun laws maybe it just seems that way because they need to take threats in America more seriously
They have to enlist for 1,5 years. They almost earn nothing during this period. Some lose their job, can't pay off their costs (house, electricity,water,...), lose their company (if they own one), artists can lose their fanbase...
From what I heard most Korean men enlist upon completing high school that way they get it done and over with early instead of having to sacrifice 18 months in their 20's. Obviously when it comes to kpop idols they tend to wait because it's tough to pause your career for 18 months and usually a part of a group.
In SK, all able bodied men must enter military service by age 28. Exemptions are given to classical musicians and athletes who have won global awards/championships. There was a lot of debate about BTS getting an exemption because of their level of global influence ( SK is big on soft power). Other record labels, who normally turned a cold shoulder to BTS' success, were now using it to try to get exemptions for their idols. When the government passed a law granting postponements until the age of 30, these other record labels got upset because BTS were essentially the only group that qualified. In order to qualify they had to have received a government appointed award for their contributions of spreading Korean culture, which BTS was awarded several years earlier. The award BTS received was usually awarded to people well beyond their 30s, so it's almost impossible for other idols to get the same treatment. But mind you that BTS and their label have never once requested special treatment from their government for military exceptions. There are laws in Korea about making profits while in the military, celebrities can not make money from activities they do while enlisted, and BTS members have been releasing content constantly, but all of it are things that were recorded and produced prior to their enlistment. Other fandoms are hellbent on crying over how unfair it is, but none of them seem to realize that their idols could have done it as well but simply chose not to.
The hate comes from jealousy. I believe the death threats kept coming because the haters realized BTS would cancel the concerts to protect the members, which they did. This only gave the haters power. You notice after a few times, that the concerts weren't canceled, they just increased security. There is no reason to hate this group. They are the most kind, caring men who want to help people and spread positivity. I am a 60-year-old ARMY and I bleed purple (purple is the color of BTS). I can't think of a better group to support and follow. It is now less than a year until they are all out of the military. Their return is going to be epic!
Service in the military is mandatory for young men in South Korea. Even though BTS were the only group to have cultural merits, and maybe could have been exempt, they never tried to get out of going. From what I can tell, most of the hate comes from the west (USA). These guys do Super Bowl performances - but I doubt they would ever be invited to do one... it's still a lot of hate out there... 💜
I am 67 yo ARMY in the U.S. You have to understand a bit about North Korea vs. South Korea to know why the military is mandatory there. I don't think it is as much about building more character there as it is making sure they have enough able-bodied men to protect their country if/when needed. Anyway, they are all serving and yes, Jin, is out and working hard. He started his own variety show called RUN JIN, which is on RUclips and the Weverse app. It is on Tuesdays and so far there are 2 episodes. Jimin and Jung Kook also now have a travel vlog show called "Are You Sure" on Disney+, which they recorded at various times in 2023 before they enlisted. So far there are 3 episodes and there is supposed to be a total of 8. It is on Thursdays. So, even though they are in military, these 7 amazing talents pre-recorded and filmed so much content, including albums and shows, for us individually and as sub-units that we have not really had a break from content since their enlistments. I am sure we will be fed content until they regroup in mid to late 2025. What other group does that? One of the reasons I am a fan, besides enjoying their music and dance, is their perseverance through all the hate (which still continues by the way), their passion, their hard work. They basically didn't have any more than 2 extended (month or two long) breaks from 2013 through 2022. They don't live together anymore since after the pandemic and their last tour. They told us in mid-2022 at their FESTA dinner that it was filmed in their group apartment which they were cleaning out, and that each had visited the other members separate places. Oh, and all 7 of them now have a "7" tattoo somewhere on their body - different places for each - to represent that BTS will always be 7. They are brothers from different blood, family. That doesn't mean they don't have quarrels and differences; they do, but they work through them and it makes them stronger. I think even in US and Western cultures, entertainers, actors, news room people, etc. ALL wear make-up. Most all of them have manicures, though not as many wear different colors on their nails. I say, why not. It's different, and people do that at Halloween a lot. Rock Groups like Kiss used to wear a lot of makeup and such. People just hate on BTS because they are jealous, ignorant (lacking knowledge), and/or don't like change. Like every fandom, there are some toxic fans, and those that "ship" two members romantically to they point they hate on other members. That's just wrong. I mean, poor Jung Kook has been shipped with all the other members. Clearly the shippers aren't correct! lol Anyway, I love and respect the whole group and I was raised in the 60's and 70's on good ol' rock and roll and enjoyed what I call folk-rock the most, up until I found BTS. They say BTS finds you when you need them the most, and I believe that to be true. Anyway, thanks for watching this. The dumb sh!t about the makeup comments is that are we going to now say women couldn't do hiphop bc they wore makeup, plus there is no way in hell ur in the entertainment industry and ur not going to put on makeup it doesn't matter what genre of music you do, u must put on makeup if you want to presentable. With regards to their military service, they certainly aren't sitting around expecting favours, they have all excelled at the various branches of the military they are stationed in... in fact in is often harder on Idols as they often have to prove themselves even more than the average person. Taehyung (V) was actually accepted after rigorous testing into the elite SDT counter terrorism squad and has risen to be the captain of his team. They are taking this time as an opportunity to grow on a personal level before returning to the group. They are proud to serve their country like every other able bodied male is expected to. The experiences and the friendships they gain through this will certainly add to their lives in a positive way.
The boy band group being interviewed didn't say BTS isn't a boy band. They were saying the winner should be an American or European artist. The message is, that a Korean group shouldn't win Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. So the big mouth of the boy band being interviewed said BTS should be in a genre of their own. Nothing like admitting you can't compete with BTS. How about this group and others, work harder to improve themselves so they can compete with any artist. By the way, does he know what a "genre" is? K-pop IS NOT a genre IT IS AN INDUSTRY! BTS sings hip-hop, Pop, Ballads, Latin Pop, EDM, and Rap. Those are genres.

They have said some pretty shitty things regarding the guys... albeit from a place of ignorance but it was said, nonetheless. Not all Army are "attacking" them but giving them constructive criticism which they should take heed to. It's all about respect. Of course, F the trolls, delulus and toxic army/solos but on one video they were saying off the wall stuff about their sexuality regarding their looks and lack of facial hair as if that is what makes up being a man of all things. They also barely paid attention to some parts of the guide video. on their phones and such came across ass uninterested. Re the plethora of antifans that BTS has... Something you have to realize is that 1. Fan groups in Korea are organized with leadership and chain of command unlike western fans. 2. Fan groups are affiliated with a label. and 3. Some labels (like SM) have been known to weaponize their fan groups. i.e. they manipulate and 'send' the groups out to attack other companies' talent. And for many years, BTS was the whipping boy for other fandoms because Big Hit had no way to protect them.
You have to realize the cultural differences. Being a K-pop artist includes makeup. But like you said, people in front of a camera male and female wear makeup. 💜
I remember when I started to know BTS,and it was at the end of one of worst years in my life. I watched this video (I was still learning abt them not a full Army) I cried so hard and wondered how were they able to continue despite all of that? Cuz I would have quit and Ik they tho abt it too but they still kept going , and that was the best motivation I had after that year.
In a previous video you mentioned solo k pop artists so I also wanted to mention IU, she’s like Korea’s most popular solo female artist. Her song “love wins all” is beautiful (and sad😅) and one of the members of BTS acts as her love interest in it (he’s not a vocal feature just a visual one lol)
In entertainment industry when you’re trying to build a fan base they have to be careful not to offend people. That’s just business. Once you have a huge devout fan base you can be less vigilant about that. While you think that the plagiarism claims are just nitpicking, it’s about the band’s reputation when they’re just starting out. Bear in mind all of this was happening because BTS had started winning awards and beating out bands that were managed by the Big3 agencies.
I think you guys should react to the rap line’s cyphers {1-4+RunBts} [different from song ‘Run’] (they’re not a series of music video, it’s just rap line on beats that they released on SoundCloud originally, in direct response to haters throughout the years. It’s a good way to see how they’re improved in rapping throughout their career. I’d love to see who you guys end up picking as your fav rapper after those cyphers lol ) or dance practices (you haven’t really seen a whole choreography from them yet, if you’re not there yet as reviewers than maybe On: Kinetic Manifesto MV which is them straight dancing) I’d LOVE to see those reactions lol
ALSO Ddang + explanation (explanation video is necessary because it’s “repetitive” but they use a Korean word that has a lot of different meanings with no exact English translation and once you understand the different references/ uses it shows how talented the rap line is at writing bars)!!! And they also have A LOT of solo songs. So maybe also look into Agust d for a look at who suga is as a musician/ producer/ writer/ rapper outside of BTS cause Agust d is how suga lets off steam without being as filtered as he is on group songs
The Rap line has great songs such as Ugh and Ddaeng which should each be combined with the DKTV explanation of the lyrics to get the meaning of the songs. Outro Tear and Cyphers 1,2,3,4 which are worth a listen. RM, Suga and Jhope all have solo songs that are excellent.
South Korean men have until their 28th birthday to submit their name however if they are say in hospital, under doing recovering from injury, or still receiving life saving treatment via having to attend hospital visits that would make them medically unfit they can postpone until they are fully discharged from hospital/treatment. Also if they are in the studying for their Master's Degree they can also defer. Those are the legal ways to defer a bit longer. Only the BTS members are allowed to wait until they are 30 years of age and if any of those deferment reasons came up they could defer a bit longer. However they decided to just go when they were ready and some of them didn't wait until even until their 28th birithday as they wanted to get back together as a group as quick as possible.
In my opinion, bts goes to military is a good example for korean citizens to the importance of fulfilling their duties for the country.. a lot of rich people or parents bribe military's personels so that their sons / siblings / themselves can avoid military enlistment.. that's corrupted behavior, like a coward.. but bts members and the company always keep themselves stay in honesty whatever they do..
I am not aware of mass shootings perpetrated by Asians. However there is toxic fans called sasaengs that some have been arrested and jailed/fined for poisoning, kidnapping, drugging food, stalking, etc. Big Hit/HYBE has done a fantastic job of protecting their artists including BTS.
It is absolutely acceptable for a man to cry. Men who cray are passionate empathetic people. Maybe the prevalent machismo in America is what is causing the divide. There is no compassion for fellow man. You guys are not understanding being in the military fosters a unifying instinct. Soldiers regard each other as brothers in arms. America could benefit from that sentiment nationwide. Maybe then we would treat our vets better.
The misogynistic accusations were from the song "War of Hormones". Technically it is a song about pubescent boys and how they relate to girls they like. As a woman and mother, I wish this song would have been out when my kid was going through it. Just my opinion. I love the song and mv.
The plagiarism was about clothes, hair color, background colors. Ridiculous stuff because BTS was beating out groups from the three largest music companies and this had never happened before. BTS rose to fame without the push and money from a large label and this was unacceptable. Even now that BTS is more global, the American music industry (Billboard, Grammys, Rolling Stone) do not like BTS and do lots of underhanded tricks to keep them out. BTS’s label refuses to play or pay, so the American music industry can’t make money off of BTS’s success. That too is unacceptable.
There is no mention that at the same time sll this was happening all the injuries illnesses and exhaustion from constant work without breaks, and in Vs case his grandmother who he was raised by died and he was deeply grieving he had to deal with death threats. The youngest 3 were still in school at debut. They were so young. We watched them trying to work out how to get a day or half day off. We watched them get through it all because of the affectionate love, support and laughter between them.
Most of the death threats were made against BTS for their American concerts, so yes, there was precedent for concern
You are right a lot of artists forget where they come from but If you had followed BTS from the start then you will realized that they continue to be humble and remember their roots. In South Korea the loss of reputation is far worse than the threat of violence. Whether you're famous or just an average person if your reputation becomes even slightly damaged the consequences are severe. Disowned by family, loss of job, friends & much more. In SK your reputation is everything.
Korea has a cancel culture even bigger than the US, bigger than you can imagine. Idols have to have a perfect reputation. Idols will get in trouble or even kicked out if there are photos of them smoking a cigarette while a rookie or young. Kpop group fans of one group always hate fans of other groups. Just like sports fans!! The kpop world is like professional sports, just without the weekly sporting events! Imagine BTS is like a football team and their rival teams hate them.

When you commented about Jungkook crying, I think you forget that he started at age 13 and they debuted when he was 15 so for many of the years, he was a teenager which is a very emotional time. Also the comments about the death threats, the threats were made here in the US, this is where the xenophobia comes in, it wasn't people in Korea and their fans aren't all of Asian descent. I appreciate the last few minutes when you realized where ARMY is coming from with our concerns over many of your statements in your videos.

However, BTS' response to this was heartwarming. They showed they cared. At the time, and probably now too, they had a majority of female fans. The usual military service dates are age 18 to 28 at start. This issue really blew up when the online gaming team won an international competition and earned military exemptions. BTS's agency didn’t join in when the idol exemptions were requested, but when the 2-year delay to permit enlisting up to age 30 was enacted, BTS was the only group that met the criteria of having received cultural awards.

In South Korea gaming export revenue is higher than from Kpop, which is why their government rewarded the team. But granting military exemptions is increasingly controversial.

What’s crazy is that the hate bts gets has worsened in recent years, I mean just this year, it’s like Korea turned on them and the kpop community has grown to hate bts even more, they got cult accusations just a few months ago and Korean media published many articles spreading fake news of bts and their label mates being in a cult, bts got death threats even after they were in the military, when they had covid a few years ago the kpop community wished terrible things upon them, every week I see hit tweets other fandoms make basically hating on a bts member, just a few days ago another kpop fandom’s groupchat got exposed for planning to trend a terrible hashtag on Twitter and spreading rumors, 2 days ago a Japanese outlet posted a clip of RM that Japanese neo n@zi’s hate and many fandoms were bashing bts when all bts did was defend their country from the men that called Koreas tradition clothing “comfort women clothing” which is a very nasty thing to say due to the history between Japan and Korea. Also a few months ago, it was discovered that Min Heejin (a ceo of one of the subsidiaries under Hybe) dislikes bts and wanted them to enlist as soon as possible so that they would go down and so would their company Hybe. She wanted her group to replace bts and even contacted bts’s accountant when she has no business doing that. During her feud with Hybe, bts received lots of hate online and articles were written painting bts in a bad light. They received chart manipulation accusations again and their success was being questioned once again. A rumor even went around that an investigation on bts would happen again and if proof was found that this happened then their cultural merit award would be taken away, this turned out to be a false rumor.
It is really so sad, and makes me so angry! I have wanted to visit South Korea, but now I am not so sure. :(
They are still mistreated everywhere still even though they are in the military. Other fans don't like that the boys are still ahead of there group. They don't understand that the boys love the ARMY so much that they prerecorded a bunch of content prior to leaving. We miss our boys very much and I cannot wait for the new record from Jimin this Friday. Then in August Jimin and Jungkook will release their travel show on Disney plus. Per the military conversation: 1) They ARE at war. The war between North and South Korea is still ongoing, despite the lack of skirmishes. This is why South Korea mandates that all able bodied men have to be trained by the military. 2) They have to enlist by age 28 (if my info is correct) unless they are exempt as a medal winning athletes (including e-sports) and certain artists who have contributed to the country in some way. The new law stated that entertainers who have received cultural merit awards may postpone their enlistment until age 30. At the time, this only applied to BTS.
There is actually a study that says it is harder to immediately differentiate between people within a different culture than yourself.

All able bodied males 18-28 have to serve at least 18 months in the military or 21 months in an administrative position if something physically impedes you from serving in the regular army (prior surgeries, etc). The new law extended entrance into the military to age 30, but only for those who hsd been given the culture of merit award which so far only BTS has earned. That’s why the other companies complained, because none if their groups have earned it and are not likely to. 😎💜
About all looking the same: When I saw BTS for the first time (a good year ago), apart from RM, they all looked the same to me. Maybe not the same, but very much alike. And I had difficulties telling them apart, (and the constant change of hair collor wasn't helping). And now that I've got to know them better, they all look very different to me and I can't understand that I was thinking they all looked pretty much the same before 😃

I don't know if someone already talk about this, but about the T-shirt, the extremist was against BTS. But the problem was about the Court's decision to make Japan pay indemnisation to the victims of forced work (I don't really know how you say in english, but for koreans who were force to work in Japan during the War).
BTS was just an excuse to lash out against Korea. A Japan journalist who is an ARMY was surprise to learn that BTS were facing accusation of being "anti-Japan" and "N*zi". He surch and found the mention of the T-shirt and explain in an article that it may be shoking for western people, but that for Korean the liberation from the Japan imperialism is related with the bombing. The two are related, but in any way the Korean celebrate the death of more than 80 000 people, they celebrate their freedom. (Like in France we celebrate de 14 july for the revolution, despite all the death that came with it. We celebrate the freedom, not the fact that people were killed unfairly. I think it may be the same for the independance day in America).
The accusations spread and was distort by many international media who didn't really search into it before following the accusation of *N*zism", so ARMY step in writing the "White Paper Project" to explain in the most neutral way all the events, and putting in light the mistakes that medias made.
For the misogynist accusation, it was for the song "War of Hormone" and it was due to a bad translation. The lyrics were "Women are an equation, we have to do them", making think that you have to slep with them, they are object, a thing. But it was in fact "Women are an equation, we have to resolve them", saying that you have to understand women to get close to them.
The family names in korea came from the clans that existed at a time, so there is only few names : Kim, Park, Min... so it means people with the same name at some point, were in the same clan, centuries ago.

The hate from other fandoms and antis was and still is to a point, relentless.... certain groups did not want BTS to succeed... the industry got little from them because they were not part of the big 3 agencies... not being able to control BTS became a problem for many.. so they would get death threats and their concerts would be cancelled for safety (for everyone, not just the group) Eventually more security was added so that the concerts could continue. Fortunately these threats were mostly baseless, but it interrupted and disappointed the group and Army... which was what the intention was.
Since I was present in these events and faced them with army forcefully... I will tell you some of these harmful characters

The misogynistic lyrics they were talking about are from a song War of Hormones, where they sing about young guys feelings (they were all between 17 and 24 at the time). To me as a woman the song is cute and depicts honestly what guys are feeling in highschool.
Like the lyrics that bothered most people were : "girls are like equations, guys just do them" , but the most accurate translation from korean would be "guys solve them", and it doesn't have the same connotation. So compared to US music, imagine those lyrics being a huge issue lol.
Also, the death threats were for concerts in New York, Forth Worth and Mexico, so I'm pretty sure the people making those threats were not korean. South Korea has very very strict gun laws, so no they don't have the issues you mentioned.

War of hormone is a tongue in cheek humorous songs depicting boys going through puberty and the feelings/changes they go through. Like the song isn't serious at all nor is the tone of it serious. They had lines like "women are the biggest gift" "they're national treasure" or something along those lines😭😭😭💀 I'm still so bitter that we'll probably never get war of hormone performed live like the song slaps soooo hard. Korean men do have facial hair, but for many it only covers their mustache and chin areas, some their jawline as well, though not as thickly as westerners. BTS shaves it all off as that is whst the udol look requires. They do have very smooth, youthful features, but we’ve seen V let it grow a little a couple of times on his live streams. Korean men can look very young even at middle age, so it’s not so weird to see them have baby faces in their 20’s-30’s. 💜
The major companies were trying to bring them down, the fans of the second bands were trying to bring them down, the officials in other countries were trying to bring them down, and the American media was trying to bring them down, but thanks to their persistence, determination and courage, our young internationals reached the top and became the first group in the world that paved the way for all art in East Asia, so the Army is deeply attached to them and is desperate to defend them. The big 3 didn't want BTS to succeed
Almost everybody got on the BTS hate train. They had a lot of competitors. And they didn’t go thru the “proper channels”…. Korean culture relies heavily on trending news, & sensationalized tid bits about movie stars & those in entertainment. Often their local news stations latch on, & keep the heresay going…..
much like ours in the US do now, & resembles what we used to refer to as gossip rags…like the INQUIRER, even TMZ… not dissing my beloved Korea, but pointing out cultural differences in our medias. The Idol business over there is no joke. Very competitive, cut throat & you could be cancelled for anything…plus, public opinion carries a lot of weight.

Some Korean kpop companies actually "encourage" their artists to get laser hair removal on their face!! But, yes, they can grow it, lol.
In South Korea they use their family name first. (Last name in America). So names like Kim, Park, Min, etc.. are all last names
South Korea still has compulsory military service. All able men between 18-28 are required to do 18-24 months of service. Time of service is dependent on the branch of military they choose to serve in. BTS recieved a cultural merit medal from the government. This gave them the privilege of postponing military service until age 30. Jin went in at 30, J-Hope Rm and Suga went in at approximately 29. Tae and Jimin was 27. Then Jungkook went in at 25. They will all be done June of 2025.
- The accusations of misogyny were mainly about two short tweets of RM covering US rap songs with slang that did not "translate" well culturally speaking and their song War Of Hormone. As a western woman I have absolutely no problem with the song which is so clearly an ironic look into the mind of a teenage boy. And it's a total banger btw.
- Apologising is very much a cultural thing in SK where reputation is extremely important to the point that you can get sued for defamation even if you're telling the truth if it's deemed to have been said with malicious intent/to intentionally cause harm.
- Do sh__tings occur around the world? Sure, they do, but it's a waaay more prevalent problem in the US. And most of the threats made against them have been either from or in the US.
- Tbh I think most non-US citizens do know about the scammy side of BLM by now but BTS donated in good faith to support a message they believe in and that's what matters. They always have and always will donate to and support good causes. They've never forgotten where they came from and are still as humble and grateful as ever.
- You're totally right that much like in the West certain companies run the K-pop industry. They're also known as "the big three": SM, YG and JYP. Big Hit, now under the main company name Hybe, has far surpassed them in terms of money however they don't have the same "ol' boy connections" in the media and they have always refused to buy their way to the top.
- Don't be mistaken - all of this BS is still going on to this day. There have been so many more incidents of blatant hate and disrespect since this video was made. And also, these are just a few examples, the tip of a very large iceberg.
- Haters will even go after prominent private ARMYs as well: Filing false copyright claims, doxcing, targeted cyber attacks, d_ath threats, etc. simply for promoting BTS on social media. And much like the then multi-fandom Break Wings Project antis will often pose as ARMYs and behave really badly and/or aggressively online to discredit the fandom and ultimately BTS themselves. While it's inevitable that there are some rotten apples in a fandom this big it's definitely a point worth keeping in mind.
- I very highly recommend you check out the RUclips channel Boracity Magazine. She has some great videos about the US music industry and their scummy tactics as they relate to BTS and in general, such as BTS vs Spotify, BTS vs Radio etc. They're very well done and very eye opening.
The various groups are friends its their fans see BTS as denying their idols awards because BTS were winning them all. For instance winning all 4 grand prizes at the MAMAS and MMAs. BTS has continuously given back as a company as a group, and as individuals.

18 to 28 is the ages, BTS had until 30 to go in. The younger members went in early so they could be back as a group in 2025. They serve 18 to 24 months. They are still at war with N. Korea they never signed a treaty only a armistice so they have to be ready.

The events I have encountered over the past 10 years through BTS are diverse and show the detailed and complex cultures, thoughts, and opinions of various countries colliding and being refined. Because of them, many ARMYs, including me, are learning new things, understanding things, and growing. And just as BTS is constantly reflecting on themselves, ARMYs are also trying to make amends for what is going on within the fandom and change things for the better.
Don't you think you can tell at a glance that it's not just influenced by BTS's 'popularity'? This is because BTS has been sending us their sincerity and politeness through their music and content for over 10 years.
My words have become unnecessarily long. The point is, you may feel attacked by comments and just ignore them and quit. But I wanted to say that it was nice to see people trying to understand and learn about the BTS (and ARMYs) we know. Well then, I hope you have a nice day. That's it. (And... I'm sorry it's in Korean. I'll use a translator, but... the translator doesn't translate well the expressions of words, so I'm going to leave the Korean as is.)
Military service is mandatory in South Korea not because it teaches young men good skills and character but because North Korea and South Korea are still technically at war with each other. North Korea could literally attack at any time and South Korea has to be ready with as many trained soldiers as they can in case that were to happen. While I don't know if I necessarily agree with making military mandatory I do think here in the US many people take for granted the many men and women who have served or are currently serving our country. I have a feeling if it were made mandatory in the US people would be using every excuse in the book to try to get out of it. And thank you for your service.

@@sc33h3o3 In the US? Men have always had to sign up for selective service after turning 18. It just hasn't had to be implemented since I believe the 1970's because we have enough men and women who voluntarily serve. But obviously that could change at any time and they could activate the draft again if need be.
"There's a troubling psychological phenomenon that just about everyone has experienced but few will admit to; having difficulty distinguishing between people of different racial groups."(Association for Psychological Science, Aug 2007) The more you are exposed to people of other cultures, the easier it becomes to distinguish one from another. My personal experience is that, as an American, I originally couldn't tell one BTS member from another, but now I question why I had so much trouble, because CLEARLY they look very different from each other.
However....it does make it difficult to tell people apart, no matter what your culture is, when they all sport the same dress and hairstyles, and have much less genetic diversity (ie: similar body styles and facial structures) unlike Americans or Europeans who have very diverse genetic makeups. Often new kpop stans will look for clues such as "the guy with the purple hair" but in the next video that same guy has a different hair color. (In my family, all the females look alike and others have trouble telling us apart. Sometimes I have to look twice to figure out which of my daughters I'm looking at. It's just genetics.)
Definitely so much of the ‘criticism’ was indeed nit-picking. BTS was a target but there was seriously nothing to actually hate on, so the tiniest most meaningless thing was manipulated into a ‘controversy’.
Also, most of the death threats were in the US, although one was also for a concert in Mexico.
the misogynistic accusations came because of a song called ''war of hormones'', many accused the lyrics of being misogynistic and objectifying women. the argument was where the lyrics objectifying and misogynists or just a song made by horny young men, i personally dont think the lyrics where misogynistic but in bad taste and a bit weird in modern lenses. but they have made it a mission to change and be more mindful of women's views, and thats amazing growth and has stayed prevalent
To me the song perfectly represented how teenage boys who are "warring with their hormones" would react and think. It's like if they had no filter and blurted out their awkward and hormonal thoughts which I feel was the point.personally, I found it hilarious from the beginning

The song is very obviously humorous and tongue in cheek because they're essentially making fun of themselves/boys in general, who go through puberty and have this naive childish mindset or thoughts. The song is satire and a total banger
OK, I will cut you a pass on the complaint about Korean names sounding similar. There are only 300 or so different family names in Korea; 20% of the population in south Korea are named Kim (like 3 of the BTS guys, who aren't related at all). Add in Park, Lee, Choi names and you are close to 50% of the population. In group TxT, 3 out of 5 members are named Choi. I heard that a TV show invited BTS Park JiMin and got a female actress with the same name instead.
On the other hand, once you fall in love with these guys, the fan name chant should just roll right off your tongues:

@@mplahke last name/family name/surname, it's all the same thing. Except in South Korea it's the opposite. When someone is called Kim Namjoon, his name is Namjoon and not Kim. Kim is his surname/family name/last name (even if they put it at the front, before their name). I can see how it can be confusing for some people...
Here when you say your name is Samantha Lee, Samantha is your name and Lee your surname/family name/last name. In South Kore when you say Kim Namjoon is your name. Namjoon is your name and Kim is your surname/family name/last name. Just remember that it's the opposite than wath it is in Western countries, that makes it easier to understand it.

I remember the threats against Jimin. I saw an IG post of a white woman in new York holding an AK47 and talking about killing Jimin. So... in that case the murderer was in the house (Jimin/BTS appearing in Fort Worth, TX).
I don't know who made the previous threats toward RM, but it was while they were on tour in NY and Mexico.
In South Korea they traditionally have 288 family (clan) names which is the name they say first... eg. Kim, Park, Lee, Min.. that is why so many of them share the same surname and why names sound so similar.
In BTS 3 of them have the surname Kim and yet are not related, their families originated in the Kim clan and all the people of that clan were known by that name and the name is passed down and now in modern times used as the surname.
you were asking some about Asian gun violence. Every country is very different, but in Korea guns are very illegal and hard to access. Even police officers don't need to carry guns often and when they do it is very very controlled down to the bullet.
Sadly, the vast majority of death threats BTS receive are when they are travelling in America. Because of American gun laws maybe it just seems that way because they need to take threats in America more seriously
They have to enlist for 1,5 years. They almost earn nothing during this period. Some lose their job, can't pay off their costs (house, electricity,water,...), lose their company (if they own one), artists can lose their fanbase...
From what I heard most Korean men enlist upon completing high school that way they get it done and over with early instead of having to sacrifice 18 months in their 20's. Obviously when it comes to kpop idols they tend to wait because it's tough to pause your career for 18 months and usually a part of a group.
In SK, all able bodied men must enter military service by age 28. Exemptions are given to classical musicians and athletes who have won global awards/championships. There was a lot of debate about BTS getting an exemption because of their level of global influence ( SK is big on soft power). Other record labels, who normally turned a cold shoulder to BTS' success, were now using it to try to get exemptions for their idols. When the government passed a law granting postponements until the age of 30, these other record labels got upset because BTS were essentially the only group that qualified. In order to qualify they had to have received a government appointed award for their contributions of spreading Korean culture, which BTS was awarded several years earlier. The award BTS received was usually awarded to people well beyond their 30s, so it's almost impossible for other idols to get the same treatment. But mind you that BTS and their label have never once requested special treatment from their government for military exceptions.
There are laws in Korea about making profits while in the military, celebrities can not make money from activities they do while enlisted, and BTS members have been releasing content constantly, but all of it are things that were recorded and produced prior to their enlistment. Other fandoms are hellbent on crying over how unfair it is, but none of them seem to realize that their idols could have done it as well but simply chose not to.
The hate comes from jealousy. I believe the death threats kept coming because the haters realized BTS would cancel the concerts to protect the members, which they did. This only gave the haters power. You notice after a few times, that the concerts weren't canceled, they just increased security. There is no reason to hate this group. They are the most kind, caring men who want to help people and spread positivity. I am a 60-year-old ARMY and I bleed purple (purple is the color of BTS). I can't think of a better group to support and follow. It is now less than a year until they are all out of the military. Their return is going to be epic!
Not only Korean people go to see BTS in concert or at events. They have a global multiracial audience
Service in the military is mandatory for young men in South Korea. Even though BTS were the only group to have cultural merits, and maybe could have been exempt, they never tried to get out of going. From what I can tell, most of the hate comes from the west (USA). These guys do Super Bowl performances - but I doubt they would ever be invited to do one... it's still a lot of hate out there... 💜
I am 67 yo ARMY in the U.S. You have to understand a bit about North Korea vs. South Korea to know why the military is mandatory there. I don't think it is as much about building more character there as it is making sure they have enough able-bodied men to protect their country if/when needed. Anyway, they are all serving and yes, Jin, is out and working hard. He started his own variety show called RUN JIN, which is on RUclips and the Weverse app. It is on Tuesdays and so far there are 2 episodes. Jimin and Jung Kook also now have a travel vlog show called "Are You Sure" on Disney+, which they recorded at various times in 2023 before they enlisted. So far there are 3 episodes and there is supposed to be a total of 8. It is on Thursdays. So, even though they are in military, these 7 amazing talents pre-recorded and filmed so much content, including albums and shows, for us individually and as sub-units that we have not really had a break from content since their enlistments. I am sure we will be fed content until they regroup in mid to late 2025. What other group does that?
One of the reasons I am a fan, besides enjoying their music and dance, is their perseverance through all the hate (which still continues by the way), their passion, their hard work. They basically didn't have any more than 2 extended (month or two long) breaks from 2013 through 2022. They don't live together anymore since after the pandemic and their last tour. They told us in mid-2022 at their FESTA dinner that it was filmed in their group apartment which they were cleaning out, and that each had visited the other members separate places. Oh, and all 7 of them now have a "7" tattoo somewhere on their body - different places for each - to represent that BTS will always be 7. They are brothers from different blood, family. That doesn't mean they don't have quarrels and differences; they do, but they work through them and it makes them stronger.
I think even in US and Western cultures, entertainers, actors, news room people, etc. ALL wear make-up. Most all of them have manicures, though not as many wear different colors on their nails. I say, why not. It's different, and people do that at Halloween a lot. Rock Groups like Kiss used to wear a lot of makeup and such. People just hate on BTS because they are jealous, ignorant (lacking knowledge), and/or don't like change.
Like every fandom, there are some toxic fans, and those that "ship" two members romantically to they point they hate on other members. That's just wrong. I mean, poor Jung Kook has been shipped with all the other members. Clearly the shippers aren't correct! lol Anyway, I love and respect the whole group and I was raised in the 60's and 70's on good ol' rock and roll and enjoyed what I call folk-rock the most, up until I found BTS. They say BTS finds you when you need them the most, and I believe that to be true.
Anyway, thanks for watching this. I hope you continue on a BTS journey, 'cause in my humble opinion, it is well worth it!!
The dumb sh!t about the makeup comments is that are we going to now say women couldn't do hiphop bc they wore makeup, plus there is no way in hell ur in the entertainment industry and ur not going to put on makeup it doesn't matter what genre of music you do, u must put on makeup if you want to presentable. All ur favorite artists have their makeup done before show or tv appearances, artists have been wearing makeup since the early 1930s even much earlier than that, especially rock bands and political rap groups in the 90s...

With regards to their military service, they certainly aren't sitting around expecting favours, they have all excelled at the various branches of the military they are stationed in... in fact in is often harder on Idols as they often have to prove themselves even more than the average person.
Taehyung (V) was actually accepted after rigorous testing into the elite SDT counter terrorism squad and has risen to be the captain of his team.
They are taking this time as an opportunity to grow on a personal level before returning to the group. They are proud to serve their country like every other able bodied male is expected to.
The experiences and the friendships they gain through this will certainly add to their lives in a positive way.
Kim is the most common surname in South Korea. There are 3 in BTS: Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin) and Kim Taehyung (V)...
The boy band group being interviewed didn't say BTS isn't a boy band. They were saying the winner should be an American or European artist. The message is, that a Korean group shouldn't win Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. So the big mouth of the boy band being interviewed said BTS should be in a genre of their own. Nothing like admitting you can't compete with BTS. How about this group and others, work harder to improve themselves so they can compete with any artist. By the way, does he know what a "genre" is? K-pop IS NOT a genre IT IS AN INDUSTRY! BTS sings hip-hop, Pop, Ballads, Latin Pop, EDM, and Rap. Those are genres.

They have said some pretty shitty things regarding the guys... albeit from a place of ignorance but it was said, nonetheless. Not all Army are "attacking" them but giving them constructive criticism which they should take heed to. It's all about respect. Of course, F the trolls, delulus and toxic army/solos but on one video they were saying off the wall stuff about their sexuality regarding their looks and lack of facial hair as if that is what makes up being a man of all things. They also barely paid attention to some parts of the guide video. on their phones and such came across ass uninterested. Nothing wrong with calling out their or anyone's else's BS if done respectfully. Speaking of respectfully this is just my 0.02 meant as such. no offense whatsoever.

Re the plethora of antifans that BTS has... Something you have to realize is that 1. Fan groups in Korea are organized with leadership and chain of command unlike western fans. 2. Fan groups are affiliated with a label. and 3. Some labels (like SM) have been known to weaponize their fan groups. i.e. they manipulate and 'send' the groups out to attack other companies' talent. And for many years, BTS was the whipping boy for other fandoms because Big Hit had no way to protect them.

I have been watching a lot of K dramas and other Asian dramas. They are always apologizing and being told to apologize. It's in their culture.
You have to realize the cultural differences. Being a K-pop artist includes makeup. But like you said, people in front of a camera male and female wear makeup. 💜
The other group is Exo, Bts and Exo are friends but their fandom aren't.
I remember when I started to know BTS,and it was at the end of one of worst years in my life. I watched this video (I was still learning abt them not a full Army) I cried so hard and wondered how were they able to continue despite all of that? Cuz I would have quit and Ik they tho abt it too but they still kept going , and that was the best motivation I had after that year.
The threats came when BTS was on tour in the US.
In a previous video you mentioned solo k pop artists so I also wanted to mention IU, she’s like Korea’s most popular solo female artist. Her song “love wins all” is beautiful (and sad😅) and one of the members of BTS acts as her love interest in it (he’s not a vocal feature just a visual one lol)
In entertainment industry when you’re trying to build a fan base they have to be careful not to offend people. That’s just business. Once you have a huge devout fan base you can be less vigilant about that.
While you think that the plagiarism claims are just nitpicking, it’s about the band’s reputation when they’re just starting out. Bear in mind all of this was happening because BTS had started winning awards and beating out bands that were managed by the Big3 agencies.
In South Korea there are many dilects of Korean depending on the districts/state/province that you are from.
I think you guys should react to the rap line’s cyphers {1-4+RunBts} [different from song ‘Run’] (they’re not a series of music video, it’s just rap line on beats that they released on SoundCloud originally, in direct response to haters throughout the years. It’s a good way to see how they’re improved in rapping throughout their career. I’d love to see who you guys end up picking as your fav rapper after those cyphers lol ) or dance practices (you haven’t really seen a whole choreography from them yet, if you’re not there yet as reviewers than maybe On: Kinetic Manifesto MV which is them straight dancing) I’d LOVE to see those reactions lol
ALSO Ddang + explanation (explanation video is necessary because it’s “repetitive” but they use a Korean word that has a lot of different meanings with no exact English translation and once you understand the different references/ uses it shows how talented the rap line is at writing bars)!!! And they also have A LOT of solo songs. So maybe also look into Agust d for a look at who suga is as a musician/ producer/ writer/ rapper outside of BTS cause Agust d is how suga lets off steam without being as filtered as he is on group songs

The Rap line has great songs such as Ugh and Ddaeng which should each be combined with the DKTV explanation of the lyrics to get the meaning of the songs. Outro Tear and Cyphers 1,2,3,4 which are worth a listen. RM, Suga and Jhope all have solo songs that are excellent.
South Korean men have until their 28th birthday to submit their name however if they are say in hospital, under doing recovering from injury, or still receiving life saving treatment via having to attend hospital visits that would make them medically unfit they can postpone until they are fully discharged from hospital/treatment. Also if they are in the studying for their Master's Degree they can also defer. Those are the legal ways to defer a bit longer. Only the BTS members are allowed to wait until they are 30 years of age and if any of those deferment reasons came up they could defer a bit longer. However they decided to just go when they were ready and some of them didn't wait until even until their 28th birithday as they wanted to get back together as a group as quick as possible.
In my opinion, bts goes to military is a good example for korean citizens to the importance of fulfilling their duties for the country.. a lot of rich people or parents bribe military's personels so that their sons / siblings / themselves can avoid military enlistment.. that's corrupted behavior, like a coward.. but bts members and the company always keep themselves stay in honesty whatever they do..
I am not aware of mass shootings perpetrated by Asians. However there is toxic fans called sasaengs that some have been arrested and jailed/fined for poisoning, kidnapping, drugging food, stalking, etc. Big Hit/HYBE has done a fantastic job of protecting their artists including BTS.
It is absolutely acceptable for a man to cry. Men who cray are passionate empathetic people. Maybe the prevalent machismo in America is what is causing the divide. There is no compassion for fellow man.
You guys are not understanding being in the military fosters a unifying instinct. Soldiers regard each other as brothers in arms. America could benefit from that sentiment nationwide. Maybe then we would treat our vets better.
