Fun fact, on TL class 700s the rear of the train is always declassified first class. You'll get a table wether airline or set of 4 and a much better seat than the iron board as well as a plug socket. Worth noting for the future
Unlock your inner GLovesTrains by playing at the playground.... that what it is! Never visited those Stations.... apart from Peterborough and love the AI Nick at the end.
I do what you do in your videos often, I really like trains and I’ve never felt confident enough to record it. I guess that’s why I like your content but I also really like how it makes me feel like I’m not weird for doing so. Thanks ❤
Pleasantly surprised to see a video about my town! For a station with four platforms St Neots doesn't see much traffic, but maybe EWR will change that.
Brilliant video Nick, I've never been down this part of the ECML myself but the towns do look nice, especially Huntingdon. Fun fact, there used to be a viaduct that carried the A14 across the ECML south of Huntingdon station until they built a new Huntingdon Bypass between 2018 and 2020. The park bit was brilliant as with the AI voice at the end.
When I think of Huntingdon, the old A14 comes to mind and the big flyover that crosses right over the town centre and the ECML and is now being demolished because they added a new road to the south. Apparently the demolition is quite a major project. I thought he might go and have a look at that, not sure how far they've got...
Far enough that the viaduct isn't there anymore; it crossed above the road bridge at the end of the station shown in the vid, the new looking footpaths explored were part of the town centre works. The A1307 seen on a few road signs in vid is (what's left of) the old A14/A604.
Only just getting acquainted with your videos, which are great fun. My only trip to Sandy was to walk the old east/west line (now footpath) to Bedford, so I could have a complete round from/to Croydon.
brilliant im loving Huntington & Sandy St Neots & Sandy ive never being on that part of Thameslink but wouldnt mind visiting some of the places on that part in the future anyway keep up the awesome work
this video made me quite happy, as a resident of st neots I dont often see it pop up on these channels, I have to admit it made me giggle when you walked past my house in the video and into my local park, its a shame that the station itself is a fair wee walk away from the actual town, because the town itself albeit small is very very nice
Lincoln, Metheringham, Ruskington and Sleaford last December. Today Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots and Sandy. How about visiting the station you missed out Nick......Spalding. Ride on EMR from Peterborough through the Werrington underpass and see the return of our flower parade on May 13th. We have fields too and play equipment!
I presume you took a wrong turning in St Neots, where it takes a good five minutes just to walk to the road that leads to the town centre (which is then another fifteen minutes walk)
I thought that too, I wonder if it's the recent ECML works? Last weekend all services were diverted onto the Hertford loop which is only double-track, so they may have reduced the service to avoid delaying intercity trains?
You were a year or so too late to see the mighty Huntingdon concrete viaduct, which carried the old A14 just near the station. It's since been rerouted.
@@joshtrains-qr8ie i didnt say it wasnt ok, its better to keep feet off the seats, but to tell someone to take their feet off is also not ok to a lot of people
I have lived in the South all of my 66 years, birthday today, but much prefer the North. I now live on the Southern part of this line, near Coulsdon South station. It’s normally a 30 minute service, did you go on a Sunday?
Great video. You’ve missed a whole recent back-story of the station at Huntingdon. The removal of the enormous viaduct over it and the ECML - piece by piece over years. That’s restored the green space you walked in. ruclips.net/video/1EZHbYn24XU/видео.html 😀🌉🚙🚗

@@khmcc5556 hence the "link" part. If you're in Peterborough and want to reach the Thames, it seems this is the way to go. When you reach Blackfriars you're literally above the river.
As a St Neots resident, if you want to get technical we're just in East Anglia, but in terms of the big 'North-South divide' it's most definitely in the south,

And there was me thinking Peterborough et al was up north!
But I think the North of England is a beautiful place! Interesting as well
Rear first class on the 700s is comfier and declassified! Great video though!

I grew up near Huntingdon and St Neots, wild to see the streets I walk down every week on RUclips lol
When you make it to Hatfield, we can take you to see Tudor Hatfield House and the newer Jacobean one. Lots of history just out of the station.

As a southerner, Peterborough doesn't quite qualify, more of an East Anglian city. Great video as always 👍👍
Hang on I thought Thameslink ran every 30 mins in either direction up there. Unless u went on a Sunday?
I thought that too, I wonder if it's the recent ECML works? Last weekend all services were diverted onto the Hertford loop which is only double-track, so they may have reduced the service to avoid delaying intercity trains?
This ^^
"There's a rather nice looking path here...." 😏 🥰
I have been to Peterborough before when I used to live in Norfolk and went on the train from Norwich to Peterborough which took over an hour.
Thameslink seats are better than their sister rolling stock on Northern at least. I really need to use both services more before my Railcard expires.
You were a year or so too late to see the mighty Huntingdon concrete viaduct, which carried the old A14 just near the station.
It's since been rerouted.
Lonon Thames link seems a bit like Metrolink - Eletric, crowded on the train, crowded at the station
Can I ask what type of ticket did you use? Did you use a normal return, or did you use some sort of day rover?
Love your AI voice LMAO it can at least pronounce my name
Peterborough looks very much like Milton Keynes in some parts
Looks so odd seeing Sandy on there! I've never been fond of it tbf, It is quite quirky though
I grow up in Huntingdon. For 13 Years
Another Pointless journey soon? How about Canning Town to Royal Victoria.

Peterborough is a good station for train spotting.
Award yourself a medal, Mate, for using Thameslink when you didn’t have to
I'll have many medals then as they're my go to from East Croydon to any stations south hahaha
That declassified first class is not too bad

The perfect response to being in Peterborough Oh God
I've been to Peterborough before and I actually rly liked it
At least theres a heritage railway there which I've only been near briefly but do have plans to ride it propper at some point.
Ah yes! Thameslink. Seems far from the thames for me.
It goes through London

The trains have to run from somewhere after all. Peterborough is a good place since LNER doesn't serve any stations south of it except Stevenage.
Good video, but no way is St Neotts in the South of England. It is way north of London. Cheers
As a northerner, St Neots is definitely rather southern for me 😂
It South Midlands at best, but by Northern Standards, if it below the Humber is The South lmao.
