The G219 in the Guangxi section is basically an upgraded version of the "China-Vietnam Border Highway S325". The highway spreads on the edge of the Shiwan Mountains. Leaving Dongxing and driving in the direction of Pingxiang, you will encounter the legendary Ma'an Mountain Pass with 28 "elbow bends" and 17 U-turns.

The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China has eight counties (cities, districts) and 103 townships (towns) adjacent to Vietnam, with a land border of 1,020 kilometers long. For a long time, due to its location in high mountains and traffic congestion, the economy of border areas has been relatively backward. On August 7, 2000, the Party Committee and the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region decided to use two years to carry out border infrastructure construction in eight counties (cities, districts) bordering Vietnam. The third-level highway along the border in Guangxi is one of the important construction projects. The route starts in Zhushan Village, Dongxing City, and passes through Dongxing City, Fangcheng District, Ningming County, Pingxiang City, Longzhou County, Daxin County, Jingxi County, and Napo County. It covers 8 counties (cities, districts) and 31 townships (towns), and ends at Nonghe Village, Napo County. The total length of the road is 725.0 kilometers. At the same time, most of the road sections are also G219 national highways.
